I just want them to be more involved, in a manner of, "how will completing this quest directly impact this faction?" A "good" fetch quest will be tied into the game plot and have repercussions to relationships and plot outcomes Good DAI fetch quests: hunt food and then get medical supplies for Hinterland refugees. Bad DAI fetch quests: place flowers at gravesite in Timbuktu and never see the NPC again ... or ... retrieve stolen wedding ring and never see NPC again ... or wrangle livestock ... etc. I refuse to consider Druffy and Lord Woolsley "bad" sidequests.

I wonder what spirit Woolsley was? Like... is it just the most chill rage demon in DA history? You know, with the talking (telepathy?) and the not hurting anybody unless provoked. Or is it a spirit of something else that just turns in to a rage demon when attacked? Protectiveness or prosperity, maybe? It gave the family financial advice that provided for them, apparently.

Even Lord Woolsley says that the goat quest was "baaaaad" In unrelated news, I wished my sister a happy wedding anniversary today with the following dad joke: How do you get a country girl's attention? ... A Tractor She had the nerve to tell me it was a baaaad joke. I told her that she should feel sheepish for dissing me. Ah ... the wonders of sibling rivalry ... and puns ... never die ...

With side quests in these types of games, I’m usually looking for emotional connection and exploration of aftermath. The Redcliffe blacksmith quest is good example of this, because you immediately sympathize with someone whose daughter is in danger, their exact whereabouts unknown. At same time, it shows how dire situation is with Connor and undead, that villagers can’t spare anything for his grief. The quest itself is simple, Velanna is not hard to find, but the side quest contributes to atmosphere and sense of urgency. Hopefully Veilguard can hit similar levels as a baseline, but ideally are even better.

The blacksmith's daughter is Valena ... not Velanna, the companion from the DAA expansion. dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Lost_in_the_Castle
