Kelly Louise Daniels @kelly_Daniels1 Oh I see thank you, I’ve no idea how it works either but I’m definitely getting worried about spoilers now so hope that’s not the case 🤞🏻
Michael Gamble @gamblemike Reviewers need the right amount of time to play and enjoy the game prior to launch. Stability and predictability are critical these days. We can’t place the game up at the last minute.
I suppose we can infer from that that reviewers got access to the game and are playing right now.

Yeah. Mike had mentioned earlier that reviewers would have plenty of time to play the game without rushing.
Which also means plenty of time for spoilers to leak out.

Oh, it's going to happen, especially given how tight-lipped BW is about many aspects of the game, implying that the huge things they already revealed are not as huge as things they didn't.

I can safely say there are many builds for each class that will feel very powerful if you're not on the highest difficulty 😉. What I'm really excited for is when the guides comes out that show people the fastest way to get some of the uniques that unlock 'special' gameplay 😊. Let's just say I love the feeling of rushing to Patches in DS1 and kicking him off the bridge for the Crescent Axe (iykyk).
Speaking of guides. Will there be a guidebook like there was for DAI?

Not that I'm aware of but I'm happy to help feed info to somewhere like fextralife or the dragon age wiki after a week or so to help with those pursuits. Have to leave some time for exploration and discovery before the optimizers streamline the experience 😉

Aren't most story achievements usually hidden on Steam until they're unlocked in-game? Strange that these got posted with full descriptions - enough to qualify as spoilers from what I understand.

John Epler is eternally tired @eplerjc.bsky.social they are hidden on the console, but the way MS and Sony handle achievements even hidden achievements have the details available, just not by default
there is nothing we can do about it. it’s just the way the consoles work.

So I have a question: Does preloading a game mean anything else than you get to play the game straight away when it launches? Does loading the game after the launch really take that much longer?
So I have a question: Does preloading a game mean anything else than you get to play the game straight away when it launches? Does loading the game after the launch really take that much longer?
It can be complicated. For example Steam encrypts preloads, so when the game launches it may take a while to decrypt the files. Depending on the size and your CPU, it can be anywhere between 5 minutes to over an hour. If you got a slow connection, then the Steam preload is still better to do. If your connection is fast, then it will probably take less time to download the game at launch and play instead of waiting for the preload decryption. Personally I don't do Steam preloads since I can download 100GB in like 15-20 minutes.
Afaik, the EA App doesn't do encryption on preloads, so on it you will be able to start playing right away at launch.

Thank you! This was very illuminating and just what I wanted to know 😊

I was wondering. Can you block certain words on YouTube? Like Dragon Age for example. The recommendations suck sometimes with crappy YouTube headlines.

I am happy they are not using Frostbite for the next Mass Effect and hope they don’t use it for the next Dragon Age.
Frostbite might now be able to do more realistic hair, but the faces also need to look good, not just the hair.
I don't care the look of hair and face.
I want them to use the engine the dev. can work the best with. So they can use their time best and not to get the engine handelt.
Yeah Frostbite is a fin eengine. Granted faces can look a bit odd on i t bu tfor me it gamepla ytha tmatters not necessarily how thuings look. Because fo rm eFrostbite does do grea tenvironments an dquiet impressiv ecutscenes th escene we first see Skyhold in DAI i sstill ver yimpressive. Unreal does d ofaces better but for m edoesn' tlook a simpressiv eon the locations fromt. But I thin ki treasll ydepends on wha tyou're going for with you game.I'm not saying Unreal doesn' td ogood locations they jus thav enever looked s aimpressive t ome as they have in Frostbite. So again like I said i tdepend on wha tyou'e rgoing for.

Yep, likely Ranking.
On UK I see it's high up, not far behind COD. Life is Strange, Sonic x Shadow, and Tomb Raider (that one doesn't release until February!) are the few games behind COD and ahead of Dragon Age. LIS and Sonic x Shadow do come out before but other games that come out before (TMNT, Mech Warrior, and Ys X) aren't up there.

I read a few days ago that Veilguard was 3 and 4 (normal and deluxe editions) on PSN sales rankings.

You can do cube faces, any faces on any engine. Please lets not continue saying this as it is not true. The engine just renders art. Now if the face is animated by an external library for example, that is a different thing, as it basically is not the engine anymore - engine renders it (to put it simple).

Do we know when the review embargo lifts? Seems like they've been pretty confident so far and I know the new norm has been day before but wondering if they will do 5-7 days before, given that it seems like they want to show the public how much they've turned this game around.
Kaidan, Cullen, and Alistair... I think I have a type.
