I buy the ME + DA games for the story + chars + exploring the environments and secret places + the loot..... and a lot less for the fighting. Unfortunately, from my perspective, fighting+chars+story is Bio's secret Trifecta. Bio's CC feature to reduce enemy DPS is great. However, I still have to go through the slog of eliminating their shield+armour for the kill = the slog continues. The "I don't get kill switch" is no help in reducing the fighting time. My wish is for another slider to increase the Rook + team's DPS on top of reducing the enemy DPS..Look, it's a feature and won't interfere with other gamers' love of mindless slaughter.
DA4's CC is way above and beyond what we normally get from Bio, especially the ability to reconfigure our stats while playing and that photo mode. Maybe a thread can be made about our best in-game photos.
There are settings to reduce health and damage of enemies. You can also increase the amount of damage they take from damage type bonuses. I can't get into the specific maths until after launch but I promise if you just put it on Storyteller the combat will be VERY fast.

Nothing from that even looks like Dragon Age, it basically looks like generic fantasy haha. They didn't even bother to match the cover art... like most guide/art books do. These people don't give a damn - they'd have vegetarian cookbooks featuring meat dishes on cover, as the entirety of the book is generated by AI, and usually published on Amazon by automated script. The only thing they could tell us, I guess, is that people are interested with Veilguard enough that grifters published several guides so far, just to try and catch well-meaning, gullible fellow they can earn a buck on.

if you just put it on Storyteller the combat will be VERY fast. Sauron difficulty. So basically, you can adjust the difficulty entirely to suit you.

Seriously I would love a nightmare difficulty without the sponginess of the enemies. Just raise everyone's dps to eleven on both sides, maybe more enemies/-abilities; with the revamped combat speed already, that should make for one hell of a ride.

I was watching a video in which they alternated between shots of DAI and DAV and suddenly it hit me what has been bothering me at the back of my mind. This is taken at Haven This is at Solas' ritual site. And the shot, presumably from the Fade in the trailer It's like a main shot superimposed on a green screen. I mean I know that is probably what it is but it wasn't so noticeable in DAI. Then I seem to recall that I read or heard somewhere that this can be adjusted so it doesn't look so soft focus. Is that the case?

Is that the case? You mean the atmospheric perspective? The reason there's so much contrast between foreground and background in shots from DAVe's marketing materials (bit of a futile thing to compare those to screenshots from the game, IMO) it's because there's a lot of light/ash/water vapor in the atmosphere. In case of higher image it's understandable - it's raining, so there's a lot of water vapor in the air (also, there's clearly a lightning strike on the right, which amplifies the contrast).

This is pretty obvious for us here who've played these games extensively, but JorRaptor (YouTuber) did confirm through an interview with someone at BioWare that there won't be New Game +.
Im not disappointed, as i never expected it. I do hope the Golden Nug returns though.
(For those concerned about the "Bad News" in the thumbnail, it's the lack of New Game + and having parts of the game being locked away - depending on your choices- that they didn't like. I think, generally, most RPG enthusiasts are probably okay with the latter since it promotes replay. Ive listened too these guys for some time, and theyre mainly Ubisoft Open World players; like playing Assassins Creed titles. Thats primarily what informs their opinion).

Ive listened too these guys for some time, and theyre mainly Ubisoft Open World players; like playing Assassins Creed titles. Thats primarily what informs their opinion). I do find it interesting that on one hand people expect a game advertising itself as one with meaningful choices to have those meaningful choices, and then some of those folks are annoyed that parts of the gameplay are locked out after we make those choices? Like... how much more meaningful could it be? If anything, I hope those will be parts of the games locked out by actual choices, and not me accidentally locking myself out of a thing/zone, because I've missed something or decided to progress the story a bit and didn't know I couldn't go back - or I miss a significant interaction/step with a companion/NPC after missing some minor dialogue 5 hours earlier. THOSE things are indeed deeply frustrating. And while I don't mind it being done occasionally for the sake of "even your minor choices can influence something big later" - those things can be very rewarding if done well, the "done well" part is the secret sauce here.

DA:V is leaning a little in the direction of ME now, and looks like there'll still be plenty of abilities available, even if you hit max level in the game. Add another tier or two to the gear and... it could be fun.

A Golden Nug kind of feature would be great. Get all your cosmetics and sh*t unlocked from the start. NG+: they could implement the ability to choose a companion skill for Rook (maybe not particularly unique ones, like Taash breathing fire and Lucanis abominating and stuff, but all the others) in the same way of Mass Effect's Bonus powers.

And for your other question: Yes* 😉 I don't know how you decide how achievements work, but thank you for not making complete the game on Nightmare an achievement. That's disappointing. I'm going to play Nightmare regardless, but I do enjoy that small moment of validation when I receive that trophy. Also, I occasionally like to compare trophies with my friends and feel superior for having that trophy they didn't even try to get. 😄 I'm not sure I've ever bothered to get a Platinum/100% completion for a DA game. I've always hated Dragon Age gameplay, and accordingly played far less often than I do with other beloved games. Plus, maybe more importantly, I didn't really catch the trophy-completionist bug until around the time DAI released. I probably will "Platinum" Veilguard, but will miss getting that Nightmare trophy.

Technically we do have a New Game Plus going into it, or at least as much of one which matters. The ability to just import our faces between playthroughs without the need to just re import everything else is one of those nice QoL improvements we really didn't know we needed.
Levelling a character is one of my favorite things to do in an RPG so its always a little bit of a mixed feeling in my mind (even though I usually take advantage of it admittedly) to have NG + with levels carrying over between Multiple playthroughs. I do like the character development that is implied by such levelling.
Carrying gear over is a little bit firm. I don't always like hunting for it and think its a whole lot more unnatural that you wouldn't have that best gear, especially in Inquisition when you craft...but even then starting over does encoruage more experimentation which has helped me continue to imrpve my characters over the years.

Thanks for the tip

People needn't worry about Skynet taking over the world, it'll be too busy making AI crap to sell to people.
Skynet: Why create even a single T-800 to destroy humanity when for the same cost you can have millions of T-800 toys to sell to those organic suckers?

This is pretty obvious for us here who've played these games extensively, but JorRaptor (YouTuber) did confirm through an interview with someone at BioWare that there won't be New Game +. Nooooooooooo... I'll be honest, I never used the NG+ option in Mass Effect, but I think I'd want it for Veilguard. Filling up that skill tree must be satisfying to experience in the field. Ah, well...Modifying files and adding extra skill points will be the way then
