If Solas never turns into a giant black wolf with 3-6 eyes in DA4, I’ll be disappointed
Agreed. Especially now that Patrick's so unequivocally confirmed shape shifting for him.
Hopefully, they can work on cloth draping and fur physics a bit this game and it will look really good. I mean... I'd live with a giant wolf with static fur, but if you're gonna make a giant wolf, make him fluffy, right?
EDIT: Oh! And you say black wolf there, but what if the color changes depending on his disposition/your relationship? I dunno how I'd feel about the DAI tarot cards being more than just symbolic, but then the Fade *IS* about concepts and ideas manifesting, so its possible. I'd want him to still be a giant white wolf though for the cool factor. lol

I always loved Lady of the Forest/Witherfang and there was no way I was ever going to kill her/him (I pretty much guessed the spirit of the forest must have become Witherfang after the Poetree told us the story). I also thought that Solas was an embodiment of the old native American story about the two wolves inside you battling for supremacy, the white and the black, and it is up to you which you allow to get the upper hand.
I seem to recall that the Trespasser epilogue screen has him haunting Lavellan's dreams as a sorrowful looking wolf. Having a dream sequence next game with Solas as a fluffy white wolf or a slavering six eyed black one would be very cool.

lol Watch there be an inordinate amount of wolves next game just... as part of the landscape or something. And we'll all be suspicious of them. It'll be the new "apostate mage companion" of npcs.

I'm pleased to finally have an answer to whether or not Solas actually shape-shifts into a wolf. I've been wondering that for quite some time.
One day, the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see. -Sandal Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a world to save. Again. -Inquisitor

In the interests of managing our expectations, Patrick didn't say shapeshift into a wolf. He just said he could shapeshift. It could just mean Solas has a dragon form. (It'd be stupid as hell if it did. But it could. >_>)
I'm with you on the assumption its a wolf, of course.
Maybe someone should clarify with him? Though if you ask for a specific like "Shapeshift into a wolf, right? Not just a dragon like the others?" he might just say "spoilers". I'm honestly surprised he just straightforwardly confirmed this much.
Riah @tezariah does Solas actually know how to shapeshift or is that forbidden knowledge?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Yes. Whether he could do so pre-power-up (ie, could’ve done so in DAI if we had had gameplay to support that) is up for debate.
Riah @tezariah Quick related question, if it's not too bothersome. Gonna go out on an assumption and say due to his nickname he often shapeshifted into a wolf. Now, does he shapeshift into a "regular" wolf or the six eyed wolf he's often depicted as? and do the six eyes the wolf he's depicted with/as have anything to do with his name meaning pride?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes And here we have reached...

Me too, I thought I remembered them deflecting shapeshifting questions in the past.

Hopefully we'll still have the Packmaster's Amulet available so we don't have to kill them all.
Automatic-attack wild animals like wolves and bears are the ONE thing I wish game companies would stop doing. Wolves and bears don't automatically attack people in the real world. They usually disappear long before you see them. If you happen to surprise one because you are being too quiet or the environment is being too loud (wind, rain, rushing streams, etc.), they will usually try to warn you off because they are not actually interested in getting in a fight with you. If you are dumb enough to approach them, or their hard-won food source, or their offspring still, THEN they might attack you. Attacking is a last resort, though.
(I teach safety in bear country as part of my job.)
Yeah. You could say that's a pet peeve of mine. And so many people are urban these days, with little to no experience in a natural environment, and so many movies portray animals as these terrifying things out to get you. It would be nice if video games had animals act like they actually do in the wild so as to help reduce peoples' fears about going into the woods.
