That's be the giantest possible spoiler and I'd spend the entire time wondering if this is where one of them shows up, instead of enjoying the game I have to experience. It would also be super annoying to do all of them at once. Me on the other hand, I'd be totally intrigued. But then again I'm one of the like 5 people who would prefer Inq as main character anyway. There’s definitely more than 5 of us. lol Alix keeps giving me hope by her paying so much attention to this, even nearly ten (……….. ) years later. I’m trying not to read into it. Surely she does this with other old projects of hers, right?

Mythal @highdragonbaitCan you guys imagine if after you were done customizing your Dragon Age 4 protagonist you were then taken to a screen with this on it - Customize Warden - Customize Hawke - Customize Inquisitor - Start Game ALIX WILTON REGAN @alixwiltonreganMaaaaaaaaaaaate 😳😳😳 #dope While I really like customizing charas idk if I'd want that, but that's more because for me the stories of my Wardens and Hawkes are done. Also I just imagined being in the CC getting prompted to do that and going "OMG which World State did I load? Which Warden/Hawke/Inky is this?"

I don't know if I'd want to customize 4 characters back-to-back like that (just imagining the number of hours I'd spend), but I wouldn't mind if they found a way to incorporate all of the previous protagonists into the game in some way. Of course, some of them could be dead depending on world state.

I’d rather be given some kind of browser based CC in the DA Keep that would generate a face code attached to whichever characater I used it for. I hated being suddenly thrust in to the CC for hawks in inquisition. It’s a moment of “Hawke’s here?!” Excitement followed by two hours of “is the nose right? I can’t tell and I can’t tab out to check without crashing. Ugh.”
Gimme an indefinite amount of time before and after game launches in the keep with a cc that’ll produce an importable appearance, with no expectation of if it will ever matter and I’ll be fine tho. Plus people like playing around with character creators. It’s fun.

I liked when DAO released the character creator before the actual game, so I could spend as much time as I liked getting my character perfect, and then when the game actually came out I just imported her and jumped right in.

One reason why Antiva should have been saved for DA5 to serve as the Thedas connection. But no, DA4 is going to waste it as a setting for a mission then be written off. Alternatively, it could be a way of introducing Antiva to new players so setting it up as the jumping off point for exploration in DA5. They are one of the main seafaring nations of Thedas and with an interest in expanding their horizons for trade and it is said to have been Antivan ships in the past that actually got as far as another landmass and returned to tell the tale, suggesting it might be worth a major effort attempting to settle there in the future. So once the Qunari threat had been neutralised I could definitely see someone, may be even Josephine herself, suggesting embarking on exploration of the eastern sea with a view to founding a colony there. That would then provide the link with previous games. I would certainly enjoy a game along those lines rather than the usual save the world scenario. It's possible, but I doubt it. They've never done that before, and they'd probably do Rivain instead of Antiva. At most it would just be Antiva City again, and the rest of the country written off like the Free Marches since "Well we explored it in DA$ too for a mission". Sort of like Greedfall as an example. It'd be great if Josephine was involved (so long as they don't ruin her character) since she did express a desire to explore past the map, but to be honest I expect her to either be ruined or killed off if involved at all.

Where are you all hiding? Maybe I'm a little more pessimistic than strictly necessary. Just seemed so many people were happy when that "time for a new hero" teaser came out. It is not so much that I would prefer the Inquisitor to return as the main protagonist but that I have always argued that after Trespasser it made more sense that the Inquisitor should return as their story most definitely wasn't finished. (This isn't just my opinion but that of every casual gamer, i.e. doesn't frequent these boards, who played Trespasser that I've spoken with). It was finished as Lord Inquisitor of Thedas but not so far as their involvement and responsibility for dealing with Solas was concerned. Tevinter Nights didn't help much either with Solas still sending messages to the Inquisitor via Charter "apologising" for what he was going to do (which was really odd if they had a mutual contempt for one another so assume he was being sarcastic in that case). My main reason for being happy with the new hero trailer was that they had finally confirmed the game was coming out and made a categorical statement about the new PC. I might not have agreed with their logic for this but at least it ended the speculation and gave us something to work with for future discussion. The game did look promising. However, it now seems that trailer was premature because all the excitement it generated has gradually been diluted by the number of exits of key personnel and the paucity of information since around this time last year. I don't count writer Tweets about their day at the office when it only confirms they are working on the game. We are still getting most of our information about timing from "leaks" or deliberate feeding of information to reporters rather than direct from Bioware themselves. There was an official release stating that the game is good and the team are meeting their milestones, but if we don't know what those were to begin with, it doesn't really tell us much.

I’d say there are good chances that the teaser wasn’t premature, or at least, that part of the reason for not showing anything for more then a year (and likely close to two years) is that they changed direction, if the alleged informations on the shift towards SP are correct. If not, the game is possibly stuck in some form of development hell.
We’re most likely never going to officially know if this is true, or not. I still mantain my (fully subjective and quite possibly wrong) opinion that the dev talk trailer from Gamescon and the teaser at TGA gave me vibes of a fully online/Coop game similar to Anthem, as I got the impression the protagonist was a sort of agent that would work alongside others to stop Solas. Given the little info we got, it’s quite possible that it was a wrong impression, but that’s what some of the concept arts, and wording in the teaser lead me to believe, and fear.
A shift towards SP, if the game was truly focused on MP, and that kind of idea for the protagonist, or another that would work well or best for a fully MP game, could in theory lead to some big changes to be applied to the narrative, with the shift towards SP. Not to mention changes for the gameplay.
Again, it’s just speculation (although I do believe a shift towards SP happened), so who knows. I do hope this happened, only because it’d mean that the dev team had to spend a lot of time for the changes, and that the reason for the zero informations released after the teaser isn’t due to (only) development issues.

If not, the game is possibly stuck in some form of development hell. That's what I meant really. It was premature if the aim had always been to release the game at the end of 2023 or early 2024. That means it was either a way of appeasing the fan base by giving them something to keep them going or that it was leading up to the release of a predominately multi-player game, with perhaps a small single player core, and the change of direction last year, led to the establishment of new milestones and pushing back release to a much later date. Let's face it, considering the incredible amount of information we got in 2020 compared with 2021, it did seem like they had been building towards a bigger reveal and then something happened to stall it.

And thank the Maker for that. Only thing worse than waiting 8 years for the sequel would have been waiting 8 years for a sequel that was predominantly multiplayer.

Wow The Dread Wolf really is looking like a dragon/wolf hybrid. Which makes me wonder how much of Solas is really Solas anymore. Depends on whether you are meeting him inside or outside the Fade. Mind you, if the Dread Wolf you meet in the Fade is a reflection of his current mind state then I think it is safe to say that the big black wolf is winning out over the white one. Even so, I wonder if much has changed from previously. The Dalish Keepers always seemed to have this idea of the Dread Wolf stalking the Fade and someone you would want to avoid. May be a Keeper had an experience similar to that Mortalitasi when they tried controlling spirits and so the next Arlathven they warned all the other Keepers that the Dread Wolf prohibited the use of spirits; hence the Dalish aversion to any magic involving spirits. Also, Fen'Harel's self portrait from ancient times seems to promote this idea of a split personality. I seem to recall he says to the Inquisitor how the persona others have given you tends to subsume the identity of the real person. Perhaps in his case identifying himself with the Dread Wolf title started to impact on his perception of himself, particularly over the millennia when he was in uthenera. His time with the Inquisition probably helped him recover something of his own identity, if he romanced Lavellan even more so, but the spectre of the Dread Wolf was always lurking in the background ready to resume its hold over him. Hence the two different tarot cards.

Hence the two different tarot cards. I see what you're saying but I'm referring to Solas absorbing Mythal. I can only assume that's where the dragon form is coming from. So there is that duality of good wolf/bad wolf, but there's also the absorption of Mythal to consider and what that has done to his personality. If you think about it, it's almost like the same situation with Anders. Anders took a spirit of Justice/Vengeance into his body and it forever changed him. Solas seemingly did the same thing with Mythal, taking in a spirit of Justice/Vengeance in order to further his means. Though I can't speak for certain if the possession is the same.

This is what worries me. Even in Tevinter Nights, it’s described as a wolf/dragon hybrid. While it’s too early to say what they plan, one of the reasons I love Solas as a character is that these are his decisions, his views and his grief and anger. I don’t want Mythal influencing him in any capacity and possibly giving him a scapegoat. Whether it’s in stopping him or forcing him to actually do it in the end. If that makes sense. Good or bad, I want his actions to be solely his own.
