Geoff Keighley @geoffkeighley If you are wondering about other big game companies that could be acquired, here's who remains (market caps):
-EA: $38B -Take Two: $18B -Nexon: $15B -Bandai Namco: $15B -Embracer: $10.8B -Netmarble $7B -Ubisoft: $7B -Konami: $6B -Square Enix: $5.6B -Capcom: $4.9B -Sega: $3.6B
Consider this:
Nintendo's market cap is 53.79 Billion, 15 Billion LESS than the Activision deal.

The acquisition isn't finalized though. Letter of intent must be issued by Microsoft, then reviewed by government agencies and approved by shareholders. Still many months away before Microsoft takes control of Activision / Blizzard.
If it does go through, with the present CEO of Activision gone, hopefully, Phil Spencer could put things to right at Activision / Blizzard.

I wonder if that means they will get rid of Battle.net in favor of Microsoft Store, assuming the deal will even go through, there's a ton of IPs and studios under Activision Blizzard. I could see changes to Battle.Net such as the possible removal of CoD to improve its security, but at the same time with World of Warcraft players expect to be able to have addons for the game and unless the Microsoft Store has changed recently I don't see how that is possible.

That said, I don't think EA acquisition is necessary right now since they already have EA Play tied to Gamepass. Also... let's keep it real, EA isn't in the best state right now when it comes to the quality of their games. I think "It Takes Two" is probably the best title they've published recently.

Can't say much about the quality of Activision games either for I have a hard time thinking of a release from the Activision/Blizzard/King that has been well regarded for quality either. I do agree though the partnership with EA Access and Game Pass is probably gave Microsoft everything they wanted at a better price. So I doubt that would be a factor for purchase, the one thing that EA might have is the IP library they have sitting around, but Activision is pretty much the same for that right now where they control a good portion of the IPs from the 90s. I think the Activision purchase was one of convenience for Microsoft as well, some experts have claimed that Microsoft spent at least $30 billion less then it would have cost a year ago and that was mostly due to this scandal which probably mean the stock price would have returned to the $95 to $100 range over the next few years. The best way it has been explained to me is they went wholesale instead of retail to buy Activision where EA is still retail pricing.

I see Phil Spencer expressed his "desire" to see Call Of Duty on Playstation, note desire and not intent. People speculating that one of the "big picture goals" of the Microsoft purchase of Activision/Blizzard is to make Sony accept Gamepass on Playstation. So any future COD Playstation release would be conditional on Gamepass inclusion on the PS platform.

Yeah it's not my genre as I'm PC (rpg and strategy games) and multiplayer is not really my thing but it's interesting to see how things eventually playout.
