I think that depends on how you see greed. I have seen every angle on the BG3 announcement this week about no DLC/Expansion/Sequel. I saw a couple of people being upset at Larion and calling them greedy because they weren't going to make something using the D&D IP. Their logic was since they have to pay to use the IP, not paying for the IP means they are greedy. I wonder if this was a licensing disagreement. We know that almost everyone at WoTC who greenlighted the deal for Larian has gone, caught up in the huge layoffs, and I feel like Hasbro was caught unawares at how successful BG3 was/is. I wonder if they're regretting not negotiating for a bigger slice of the pie. And I wonder if the no BG4 announcement is a result of Hasbro being way too greedy with what they want. Sounds like Larion just wanted to do something different, but of course there could be another story that they aren't talking about. Such as Hasbro laying off almost everyone that was involved with BG3.

The best game last year and the best game this year could very well be a non AAA game, which is just an amazing place for the industry to be (and a gigantic middle finger to AAA practices and greed). And of course Rockstar will ruin the run next year by releasing GTA 6

Putin orders Russian government to look at production of home-grown gaming consoles -TASS www.devdiscourse.com/article/law-order/2870515-putin-orders-russian-government-to-look-at-production-of-home-grown-gaming-consoles--tass?ampI’m going to have an aneurism, this is so stupid. Ignoring the obvious political issues, let’s look at this from a logical point of view. 1. Russia is firmly a PC State, there is no domestic demand nor want of a local game console. 2. Russia’s electronics manufacturing sector is incredibly backward and only really fit for mass production of cheap components for military applications. 3. What domestic games justify a console? Russia’s video game industry is mediocre because of brain-drain, sanctions and lack of creative freedom. The only games worth their salt from Russia are military sims…what a surprise. Honestly, if he cares about rejuvenating the sector, improve domestic electronics manufacturing and don’t strangle devs with creative regulations.

You know what’s interesting? The combat reminds me of that South Korean Persona-like game Eternights and Sekiro. Game look's good. For those who may not know, playstation store will release a demo for the game on March 29.

Yeah but it's hard to differentiate between normal studios now and the monolithic studios with thousands of employees which are the real problems. For example Ubisoft has 11 Assassins Creed Projects going on, at the same time, and they can do this because they have 20 thousand (bazillion) employees (and also by not putting any care into their games, *looks at Skull and Bones*). So it's like we know Larian is AAA with 400 to 600 employees, but then what's Ubisoft with 20000? So because I don't like using the stupid AAAA(AAAAAAA) category, Larian (and Bethesda now) are AA to me. They don't have the employees needed to churn things out as quickly or work on as many projects as the larger studios.

Xbox has been making a lot of stupid decisions and statements too:
You would think the Global Marketing person would not risk a PR backlash by making such an incendiary statement. I guess that’s what happens when brain rot becomes terminal.

It's too bad they don't make exclusive PC games these days like they used to. I mean, especially with the amazingly powerful hardware that PCs now have and will continue to have.

At leas that's how I see it. I thin kit' sone of the main reasons wh yexclusivity is dying somewhat becaus eth ecompanies jus taren't making enouh money to justif yit. It's why I think these days why we'lllikely only get timed exclusives now like Forbidden West fo rexample was exclusiv e to PS fo r2 years and now we have access to it on PC .I think it's all down t omone ythough.

Why would you need to upgrade your PC hardware yearly to game with? My PC is over 8 years old by this point with one side-grade or maybe minor upgrade to the GPU due to hardware failure and I am expecting it to last until the end of this generation if not early into the next. If you are happy with how games look on your PC there isn't a reason to upgrade unless you just want to be on the bleeding edge for most games don't make use of hardware beyond what consoles offer unless you are looking for native 4k@60fps.

I rather have something in the game that requires payment that I can avoid over being misled about what the final product is. I am still extremely salty at CDPR over the DMCA takedowns when people got their copies of Cyberpunk for the PS early from online purchases. Since the optics to me was that they were scrambling to coverup how the console versions weren't even close to the PC release. As far as Capcom their microtransactions don't bother me, it is the fact they are removing DRM from already released PC games and replacing it with an even more aggressive one. Such as Resident Evil: Revolutions was orginally released in 2013 and they broke the game putting their new DRM into it.
