Blizzard is more a subdivision of Activision than a separate entity, to my understanding, not unlike the relationship between EA and BioWare though perhaps even more closely bound together. I’m not saying you can’t hope, just that it may be an unrealistic hope. Bungie’s situation, being a very large independent studio with a contract for a specific game with Activision, was very unusual. |

Good news for Bungie, and Destiny 2, and only possible thanks to a contract that doesn't sound like it was profitable enough for Activision/Activision Blizzard. Sadly will not happen with Blizzard. Both Blizzard (video game development) and Activision (game publisher) are owned by a holding company named Activision Blizzard. Very different situation  |

Blizzard and Activision are sister companies under Activision-Blizzard, the parent and holding company. Neither one owns the other. Activision and Blizzard are still separate entities and can operate independently of each other, and typically they do. Blizzard self-publishes their games, Activision doesn’t really interact with them, which is why I find it so bizarre that people blame Activision for Blizzard’s shitty behavior. It’s not Activision that’s harming Blizzard, it’s Blizzard harming Blizzard. |
