Didn't have time to do much yet since the ongoing Halloween event in GW2 is taking up much of my time, but I liked what I saw of the expansion so far outside of some minimap wonkinessa and being stuck inside a room after a cutscene, unable to get out except via quick travel. Are my ears playing tricks on me, or is that fucking Rosh Penin voicing the new padawan dude, Arn? Lana enjoying herself over him being a bit intimidated/flustered at her Sithyness was cute. It feels like they made some performance improvements as well, at least in my case things feel smoother than before. Onderon felt a bit empty though, they could've added a bit more background NPC's and some ambient crowd noise and bustle. Granted, I've only run around the initial city area and was in map instance 40 or something, so there weren't many players running around either Happy to see they've added at least two new lightsabers to the game that: look nice, aren't weirdly thick and don't have a super thin or otherwise modified blade. AND they're available just for plain ol' credits at the Onderon reputation vendor once you get a bit of rep.

BTW - they didn't mention this in the patch notes but for all those who missed the window back in 2016 to be eligible for the bonus chapter Shroud of Memory and getting HK-55 - you can buy this chapter now for 3.800 CC

Must be the shortest expansion with the least content this game ever received. Took just about 3 years... Don't know why I expected more... But it does have separate Imp/Rep sections, so at least it's not "one story fits all" anymore. Overall I am disappointed. No reason to get back to regularly playing endgame. Which sucks, because I love the game, but in the past few years I just do story runs.

As if someone can still believe in exclusives Just wait a bit - and it will come to you!
On another note: MG the Nautolan are hideous! It's like they had a competition for the worst possible model for that race. Until yesterday, there was not alien/fantasy race I could not work with, but BW managed to create one!

I always found Nautolan creepy looking personally. Never understood why people like that race so much in the EU.
I haven't started Onslaught yet (I'm not in a MMO mood right now), but I stashed all my crafting materials in the new pane last night. Now I got more free space for cosmetic gear in my legacy cargo. Woot!
I was surprised by the amount of new UI too.

It’s convenient for space management but I found it’s a pain to find stuff as it sorts alphabetically, and no other options. If I want to quickly identify tier 7 mats for instance, there’s no easy way to do that.

If I want to quickly identify tier 7 mats for instance, there’s no easy way to do that. I never had to find a specific material by tier before so that doesn't appear to be an issue for me. I do two things with mats in SWTOR: - stash for crafting and with the crafting dialogue autopicking materials from storage and telling me how much I have left, I rarely interact with the stashed materials outside adding more to the stash. - gather to sell, in this case the material stays in the character's inventory until moved to the GN. Saying that, I do find the crafting pane a bit barebone, but going by character/outfit pane redesign, item popup, the new icon border that tells you which mod slots are filled or not...they might have run out of time to do something more elaborate. With all the changes, I kinda feel like I should start a new character...again.

Looks like there was a Companion's nerf (lower health, tweaked AI and longer cooldowns) with the expac. I'll have to try the game to see if this is good or bad for me. The JK's Defender bridge most be super awkward if you romanced Lana and then go after Kira ... I can't wait for more Onslaught videos showing up, as I doubt I will ever have 4 characters (loyalist + saboteur x 2) far enough story-wise to see all the options despite having plenty of characters. I just lose interest in them eventually. I already watched a bit of loyalist Imp and saboteur Republic. I need more saboteur, as I don't feel like I will ever play one (except maybe with an Imperial Agent). Now I'm kinda tempted in making a new JK, although my current one is currently in KOTFE (right at the start of the chapter to go do a trip in the wilderness) so it might be more "productive" to just continue that one...and that means I will never, ever finish all of the base game Imperial side quests as I haven't been able to do that since the game released.

I started a new JK last night. Lots of people starting new Jedi, I guess I'm not the only one who can't get back into their old characters (even if they are less than a year old). They changed some of the cooldown notifier animations, I'm not sure I like them. Gold sellers are going to gain in popularity with the change to item value and item cost. Tython is still good old Tython...with more gold sellers spam. I also find Tython JK super boring or I just played through it too many times. Finally, I had to disable chat. Too many spoilers and people trolling. Is it just me, or does Arn Pelarun kinda resemble Bucky Barnes? With a lot more cyberparts and totally different personalities.

Chat not working in the new zones is in the known issues list. There is a few critical known issues in this release, but nothing that can stop you from finishing the new content...well unless you are trying to go through KOTXX/Iokath still and have to use a "tank" after you reached level 71+. Good luck with that.

Tython is still good old Tython...with more gold sellers spam. I also find Tython JK super boring or I just played through it too many times. Finally, I had to disable chat. Too many spoilers and people trolling. Omg, gold sellers? I haven't met those in years in SWTOR. Does that mean the game is picking up?
I played a little more and honestly, so not impressed. Everything in this update is made to prolong the grind (on many of the same activities we did since launch no less) to infuriating levels, akin to the Pay-to-Win Korean grinder MMOs. I don't know what Bioware is thinking, but I haven't seen one person in chat that liked the new changes. SWTOR's crowd is casuals. Why the F is the update targeted to hardcore grinders? I am starting to miss Galactic Command ffs! This is just a worse version of it and I didn't think it's possible. Ben Irving, come baaaack!
Crafting is ruined. One thing I liked about SWTOR was that crafting is simple, clean and never a chore. Now it's everything but those things. Now you need to keep tabs on a bazillion different materials you need and require Master FP and OPS materials for the most basic entry level gear in the update! I mean, I probably should not complain, I made over 100 million credits on the GTN in a few hours just by figuring out MK-11 augments (2-4 mill per piece) and selling the crapton of MK-10 I had for eternity (MK-10 were 20k before patch, 150k+ after, rofl). Now that I mention it...I get why there are gold sellers I also found bugs in the crafting skills and deconstruction. And have so much Jawa junk, that I will need to find where the Jawa vendors are for the first time ever
Went to play my OP Healer and guess where she was at? Chapter 8 KOTET, rofl Walker sections. Impossible to do.
Geared my Guardian with 268-274 stuff. Supposedly it had more Endurance, but each piece lowered my Health. I had 215k Health, then with the upgrades and several thousand Endurance more...I ended up at 200k... What the frak? And why all the new gear has Accuracy on everything? For some reason my characters got nerfed too. My 45% crit went down to 33% in the update. It all feels so underpowered when fighting enemies now. Takes long and is boring to death. Great job trying to push people into the grind, Bio...
Not even going to talk about how terribly optimized the new areas are.
The new "Renown" exp is accumulated slower than CXP ever was...I THOUGHT WE LEARNED LESSONS, BIOWARE???
The "Tacticals" are pointless fluff. And somehow 80% of the patch notes went on about them. I think that speaks for the whole update.
On the bright side - this all just motivates me to never ever bother with SWTOR's endgame again and just do story runs on new alts. Nautolan of as of yet undecided class, here I come!

Gold Spammers never really went away, but it's been ages since I've seen them spam general chat like that. Jawa vendors are in the Bazaar section of the fleet, unless they moved them this update. You are losing stats at level 75 because of the level sync (the game is all mostly level capped at 70 still). It's easier if you have trash gear and are under level 70, harder if you are level 70+ with no maxed gear. And from my Dantoine experience, this was how the algo worked before 6.0 as my level 70 Vengeance Juggy in 238 gear had an hard time on Dantoine, while my upscaled level 20ish defense Guardian in trash gear was killing stuff faster. Also, they reduced planet level cap, Tython used to max you at 12, now it max you at 10. Someone noted the changes on the PTS from Live before 6.0 released. There seems to be a bunch of bugs associated with gear drop right now. There is a few in the known issues list and from the looks of it, probably more exist. But someone found out that treasure hunting crates return level 276 gear at level 75 regardless of your current gear. It's so getting patched . I haven't tried gearing any character yet, didn't touch my Onslaught ready chars, but outside the exorbitant crafting cost, too many ilevels (or too fast leveling up to 75) and them thinking the whole system should only work at 100% for level 75, I like the concept over galactic command personally. I have even seen someone say it take about 2 days to gear one character and a week for casual. I can't say if that's accurate or not, but this suggest those estimates are probably correct....as the fastest method takes about 4 hours apparently. Personally, I got confused at some point last night on my newbie (well teenager now, new JK is level 17). I had an icon saying "alpha strike" and I had no idea what that was. Turns out, low level gear can have amplifiers and alpha strike was a +1% damage increase. Kinda cool and totally pointless at the same time. Looks like the Walker issue is going to be patched next week too.

And have so much Jawa junk, that I will need to find where the Jawa vendors are for the first time ever Went to play my OP Healer and guess where she was at? Chapter 8 KOTET, rofl Walker sections. And the one week - probably only possible if you do every single daily/weekly for PVP, Ops, GSF, FP, etc. and spam FPs for additional 3-4 hours a day. And all of the above is just to get to trash 306. Not even minmaxing yet.

Doing it using Hammer Stations takes 15-20 hours according to the same post. Boring to do, but for anyone with no life that needs to be top ilvl in less than a week to continue doing the same stuff they did before in lower ilvl, the option is there. I haven't seen a 6.0 minmaxing guide yet and going by the size of the community, I expect guides to take weeks if not months to be released. I'm not sure why anyone would try to minmax before the expac is even a week old. I have always been amazed by the SWTOR communities going apeshit over how long it takes them to get BIS gear though. When CG released hardcore players complained it was taking more than the week it used to take them to gear up...now those hardcore players are complaining that a few days is too much. At this point, I have to conclude that they just want bis gear the moment they ding max level so they can complain they have nothing left to do in the game faster...

- good crafting, viable for gearing at least a notch or two below BiS without the need to grind materials in group content.
- alt and solo friendly gearing system
The two kind of go together and now they are both screwed. I never wanted BiS, but just enough options to gear on my own and be able to jump into group content without being the weakest link with a new alt. Even on the few occasions when I had BiS in the game I actually played more while I had it than before I acquired it.

The current system is technically alt friendly with "everything" being bind to legacy no? Also, isn't it technically as solo friendly as it was before? (which means not much, lol, the moment I looked at Ossus crystals requirements and how to get them I went with "won't bother"). They really screwed the pooch with crafting though, someone on the officially forum suggested it was "by design" and I agree. My guess is that the game have insanely rich players BioWare is targeting at the expanse of everyone else or they just want more data about item drops and are funneling players toward content that drops items. Maybe both. I expect a lots of "grievances" to be attended in the next few months and I consider the expac a good base to start with though. Saying that, I think one of the biggest problem with the game is that the most fun content, class/planet stories, can't be replayed outside of restarting a char and KOTXX. If there was some sort of new game+, the gameplay loop would be a lot more fun. edit: People on the official forum are unsubbing because killing bosses on starter planets now takes 10 seconds instead of 5 seconds (effect of the level sync cap change)...

Not sure if that is a bug or a changed they did, but I did story mode The Esseles on level 17 JK and bosses, except one, gave me beside the normal credits and blue gear: - tech fragments (around 20 each) - 1 green crafting bag (says grade 11 and I can't open them) and there was a few processed isotopes stabilizers on the last bosses (which I don't remember ever seeing in story flashpoint...).
