71C is not critical even for a laptop. Sometimes the issue is loading new zones. Have you try to leave game with that black screen for 5+ minutes? Just to see what happen?

Thank you saandrig, azarhal and Amirit. The last few times I've played I've not had the issue so I still don't know about the alt+enter or the letting it run (if it happens again I will try both things). I don't know how to find out what version or w/e it is I'm supposed to have of .NET or C++ so I haven't checked those either. I did try to look around in files and stuff and didn't see anything. Maybe it's in my updates? I can check that later. There is another driver out for my card (which is a gtx 970, btw. Sorry I forgot to mention that). It'll be 4 yrs old in January if that means anything? But I honestly have no issues at all, ever, except those black screens in SWtOR. I will keep trying all the things that have been suggested though if it happens again and I will def let you guys know!  |

Thank you saandrig, azarhal and Amirit. The last few times I've played I've not had the issue so I still don't know about the alt+enter or the letting it run (if it happens again I will try both things). best thing in the patch notes: "After realizing she isn’t defeating trees, the Shae Vizla Companion will stop saying “Timber” all the time."  though I actually found that rather hilarious on a serious note though - 2 very good (and needed) changes: - increase of tech frags! - no enemy respawn in instanced areas on Mek-Sha heroics |

So I ran GSF a few times last night for the daily and weekly. I noticed the crates had lower gear than I remember from running it before. My knight was in 270 gear before and got several 290 items pretty consistently. Now he is at 296 and getting around the same level, instead of higher, plus no mod drops.
Anyone else notice a change?

Out of my toons, only the female sith warrior and the female JK made it to the expansions. I stopped after they took over the throne. The time when the devs started making changes to loot etc.
I don't want to sub any more so it's going to be f2p mode. It's still there right?

I doubt I'll be going for 75 or doing the expansions; I found them interesting but also a pain in the ass where crafting is concerned. The highest of my old toons is F-sith warrior who is 70. My target is just doing the old class stories. When I logged in yesterday, I saw the new expansion is about Malgus. Again? Isn't he dead? Anyway, I forgot I no longer sub so speeder thingy is going to be at 20, not 10. I still have the boot boosters. My stronghold should still be around. Used some of the free cartel coins to get some features I'm used to. Made a male JK because the old roster is mostly all female chars. I do have a M-sith warrior and one other, I forgot what it is.

The new expansion isn't about Malgus. You interact with him if you play Sith but less than with the other new characters, he's not interacted with on the Republic side (you do hear he is back though). Also, he feels like a robot wearing Malgus's skin and he is a puppet. I'm not sure if he qualify as alive.

I presume they're still around; Kaidan Fosterfan or something like that. I shut off GC and TC because it's full of nonsensical talk and the persistent irritating bot adverts. It also impinge into cutscenes. I also kept getting unwanted guild invites, including one called FU EA Bioware. I think.

I can see I'm going to have problems with the new toons regards gear because they're leveling so fast and still on the early planets. I'm using adaptive armour so there're not going to be vendors selling the mods for the higher levels, if I'm not mistaken. At the most, I could have my old toons craft the mods up to 70. I think. Before I left, I was running the Starforge or whatever it was; the Valkorian expansion and using crystals to exchange for mods, etc.
Any suggestions? I'm not fond of raiding or whatever. I prefer to solo than to group up with strangers because it's hard to predict their interaction; helpful or just bull dozing their way forward, leaving the newbies behind.

Gear is pointless for everything that isn't max level because of the "downscaling" adjusting stats anyway (and it's actually better to not be in base level 75 gear because it downscale worst than level 60 gear). You'll be fine with the mods sold on the fleet for all content except the latest expac and you get gear early in the expac so...

But then I realised I forgot about the other companions when the sorceress got Andro. Do I have to bother with their armour? Companions power scale with your character level (or planet level if downscaled) and their influence level since 4.0 (aka KOTFE), which turn armors and weapons into cosmetic items for them. They can all do healing/dps/tanking as well. So you want to feed your companion gifts, send them on crafting missions and pick dialogues choices they approve or don't approve (approve gives more influence).

So I can "cosmic" them with flashy armour and weapons and it's not going to matter because their stats will just auto level to the best there is. That's the best news I've ever heard. I think I wasn't paying attention back then when I played KOTFE or perhaps it was implemented after I left after finishing the expansion.

Companions power scale with your character level (or planet level if downscaled) and their influence level since 4.0 (aka KOTFE), which turn armors and weapons into cosmetic items for them. They can all do healing/dps/tanking as well. So you want to feed your companion gifts, send them on crafting missions and pick dialogues choices they approve or don't approve (approve gives more influence). So I can "cosmic" them with flashy armour and weapons and it's not going to matter because their stats will just auto level to the best there is. That's the best news I've ever heard. I think I wasn't paying attention back then when I played KOTFE or perhaps it was implemented after I left after finishing the expansion. Yep, their gear is cosmetic.  The weapon doesn't matter either, although they need to equip one.
You do need to get their influence as high as possible. The easiest way besides natural leveling during the class stories, is to buy gifts as Azarhal said. That's expensive though. You can start with cheap green gifts, maybe 200, then 200 blue tier 5 gifts, finally, purple level 5 to max them to 50. Purple ones are really expensive though.
