My first reaction was Nooooooooo! But at the same time, the PTS was a buggy mess and no way it was going to be ready for Dec 14th. Downside, it release a week before GW2 new expansion now...

I feel bad for anybody who subbed recently expecting being able to play the expansion next week. But if past holiday releases prove anything they would have dropped a buggy mess on the players, then peaced out for the holidays lol

I'm rather relieved about this - I'm not on the playtest server but it was obviously going to be a buggy mess. I was planning to hold off on resubbing until next year until they'd fixed it anyway, so this works well for me. I should really log in and get on with finishing my Trooper story in progress before then, though ...

It's a bit scummy they announce it now, just a week before the 14th. The required delay was obvious from all the PTS testing and threads about major issues. But Bioware waited for the last possible moments, grabbing whatever new and renewed subscriptions they can get.

I was looking forward to levelling another Jedi knight with shadow spec, but other than that, I'm ok with the delay. Better a delayed expansion without bugs, than an expansion in time with bugs.

Never doing another Nathema Conspiracy FP with two or more first timers.
I just had a Merc and Mara healing the final boss all the time. Even after the beam mechanic was explained several times after each wipe. The Merc was ranged, so he kept at range. I had to literally chase him all over the place to keep in the green range. Then he died and we got the boss to 5%, but our Operative revived the Merc and boom, boss at 15% in seconds... I rage quit.

Ya I won't even bother doing fps unless I'm in a guild group. They can end up being way more problems then they are worth in gf. Especially if you are doing the MM versions.

I unlocked a bunch of stuff from my collection and bought one armor set on sale: the energy one. Aka "be naked" armor set. It's great to hide bracer/gloves when making outfit appearance (some bracers actually clip, it's super annoying), but just buying one piece cost millions on the GTN and it's a rather expensive Carter Market set when not on sales. I wanted to get it for years... Now waiting for the expansion.

I'm convinced they want to move on to different projects after 10 years, but the CM keeps making too much money off whales so EA won't let them lol

That is what I am thinking as well especially after Microsoft saying there are 25 million people that are part of Gamepass. EA might be seeing growth for the game by expanding it into the console market and have more revenue for the game that way. I could see a lot of people trying out The Old Republic if the throw a few Cartel Coins each month to the people with an active Gamepass/EA Access account.

What is getting worse? The last post is about removing things that won't work in 7.0. Renown is going away, the social meter is getting revamped into achievements and I know Thermonuclear Fusion is backed into the Arsenal skill tree, so most of those tacticals are probably also backed into the new trees and tus useless come 7.0. Tacticals are also sell for more than 100 credits right now...

They already nerfed the classes with the pruning and now they remove some of the best Tacticals. Some classes like the Carnage Marouders will suck in 7.0.
Edit: And they only give you 100 Credits for every removed Tacticals. The original Price for a tactical was 1 Million Credits and 3000 tech frags

Tacticals resell for ~6500 credits already, they won't be 100 credits next week. They just forgot to put the current price like for the boosters at 800/1000 credits. Also, that 100 credits is better than the 1 credit the stuff removed went for when 6.0 dropped. As for the 1m/3000 tech frag, most of the tacticals I have I obtained via loot/crate drops and cost me nothing... Ah yes the pruning, characters lose access to 0 to 3 abilities, mostly because those are now role only (all the revive are healer role only now, all guard/taunt skills are tank only) and now it's the end of the world. Abilities were rebalanced, some got 6.0 passive built-in, others get the bonus from the (will be removed) tacticals or the tacticals was changed into a selectable passives in the skill tree. There are also entirely new passives to select for certain skills. There are just a few abilities you can't use at the same time because of how the skill tree works and those choices you can swap at any time out of combat (or at least you could on the PTS).

The more I read on 7.0, the more it looks like some sort of half-baked update that should have been more like a patch 6.5 or something.
The only excuse they have to call it an "expansion" is that they rework the classes a little bit. And in a way to nerf them. Which is fine, but I think they are going to do it in an overly complicated way. I don't see how the "new" way of "pick 1 out of 3" is different than the Utilities we already have. Just reduce the Utility points and be done. Unless the new way is meant to be "do it once and it's like that forever", which is a major blunder. If I can't change my skill choices on a character, this update feels like a massive downgrade in the QoL experience.
I am not sure I got the gist of the new gearing. But it also sounds too complicated. I honestly see zero issues with the current system - "play as you want and get the gear". I hear we now get a bunch of new currencies from different activities that we need to exchange inbetween in order to get a new gear piece while turning in the old one. While keeping the Tech Fragments (no idea how they will be earned now) for gear too. Maybe it's easier in practice, so I will have to reserve judgement.
And no moddable gear for casuals. Like who the hell thought that's a good idea? Casuals are like 99.9% of your playerbase. I like to dabble and exchange the stats on my gear. Now I am locked into set stats and will have to try and offset things with augments only. What was the issue of making a vendor that sells mods based on your gear level? Perfect credit sink - everyone happy.
And it seems augments will now be required more than ever With so much gear switching. Well, I got a few thousand MK-11 in my storage. I guess now is the time to sell them for a million a pop, rofl

A new cinematic trailer will drop tomorrow. The more I read on 7.0, the more it looks like some sort of half-baked update that should have been more like a patch 6.5 or something.
The only excuse they have to call it an "expansion" is that they rework the classes a little bit. And in a way to nerf them. But it also sounds too complicated. I honestly see zero issues with the current system - "play as you want and get the gear". While keeping the Tech Fragments (no idea how they will be earned now) for gear too. Maybe it's easier in practice, so I will have to reserve judgement.

Perfect credit sink - everyone happy. And it seems augments will now be required more than ever With so much gear switching. Well, I got a few thousand MK-11 in my storage. I guess now is the time to sell them for a million a pop, rofl The problem is more that most of the stuff meant for the expansion was pushed to 7.1. It's basically only the story and classes/origins changes now. The new skills trees were not locked on the PTS. There was no cost to switch the choices either. Gearing is still "play as you want and get gear", even more than 6.0 for the real casual. No need to do GSF, join a large yield guild or farm Red Reaper to gear up in a timeline fashion. 4-5 characters all achieving Conquest in a week (with the upped 100k requirements) is enough to reach the none-raid gear cap on a character as tested by people on the PTS. The way it works reminds me a lot of FF14 when I played it 2 years ago, except casuals won't have to run dungeons/raids (FF14 force you to do dungeons for currency to upgrade your gear just to advance the story). There is no mods for anyone until a few more patches are release. Apparently, too many players complained to BioWare about how hard it was to mod their gear at level cap or something like that. I think the real reason is more that it's one of the thing they decided to push to 7.1 before locking the features for 7.0, but now that most features for 7.0 have been pushed back to 7.1... Tech Fragments are still Conquest rewards (including guild conquests) and they are used to buy tacticals and the legendary implants from what I understood.

No need to do GSF, join a large yield guild or farm Red Reaper to gear up in a timeline fashion. 4-5 characters all achieving Conquest in a week (with the upped 100k requirements) is enough to reach the none-raid gear cap on a character as tested by people on the PTS. Tech Fragments are still Conquest rewards (including guild conquests) and they are used to buy tacticals and the legendary implants from what I understood. If we can respec, that will be good. Most of the choices seem easy, but definitely some are more of a PvP than a PvE thing. I would hate to need to have separate toons for PvP/PvE.
So, if I get that right, with 4-5 toons doing the Conquest, you hit a cap on the new currency. Is that a weekly cap that you can't go above once reached? Or you can spend the tokens and go to another 4-5 toons to continue and reach the cap again in the same week?
So Fragments will be limited to only Conquest farming or they will come from other sources?

There is a weekly cap and it's probably going to be different live than what was on the PTS where it was currently the same cap for the total and the weekly. Or maybe not. Fragments are rewarded by: All PvP & GSF Dailies and Weeklies Flashpoint Weeklies All Group Finder Rewards Heroic and Daily Missions Operation Bosses Personal and Guild Conquest Rewards Chapters You can check this guide which was written based on the last PTS version. The whole thing sound super complex, but if you stick to one thing it's not. The downside, you want to do Heroics to upgrade farther down the like, but at the same time it's easy Conquest points and credits.
