I miss Iresso.

I know the Consular story gets a lot of hate for being "boring" but I really liked it and that was a great ending!

Yeah, when I started my 3rd gen (or is it 4th?) Knight on Tython a few weeks ago, I remembered the sense of wonder I had when I first played it.... and then immediately the absolute soul deadening bore of playing it as a Consular

When my friend and I were trying out the beta he started before I did and picked the Consular. I remember being a little jealous because I wanted Force powers more than pure lightsaber combat. Oh how little I knew. The Knight was voiced by Solid Snake, got to bang a chick on the starter planet and got an R2 expy and his love interest before even starting CH1 proper. The consular on the other hand... got a giant lizard my friend kept trying to dismiss. He hates the game now (for a slew of other reasons, some less justified than others) and I'm still here. His sacrifice will be honored in the coming empire.

Nah, but in all seriousness the consular starts to show promise once you get Theran Cedrax and really takes off after chapter 2. The other stories I find stay mostly even, for good or bad.

Trooper, warrior and BH are meh apart from the single characters that make them awesome, [redacted], Vette and Mako, respectively. Smuggler's just fun and rogueish and I like, not only how you can invert the Han-Leia dynamic if you romance Risha but also how you can start out being an expy of Han but move closer to Talon Karrde by the end of it. And the Agent, Knight and Inquisitor are of course excellent, apart from some redundancy in the latter two's ch1.

Vette is absolutely disgusting.

Elara requires you to fill out forms in triplicate before sex but she's really passionate about it.
Jaesa (DS) is like watching a trainwreck.
Ashara can't commit to either side but still has her lofty ideals that just get into the way.
Temple is a fanatic, if you ever say something bad about the Empire in your sleep, you won't wake up again.

I never actually looked into Akaavi as romance option (my smuggler is female *sigh*).

should I go Operative or Sniper? (I like AoE powers and a certain distance to the enemy more than close combat )

Your preferences indicate sniper. But Operative gives you stealth AND heals. So I guess what I'm saying is..
