Is there any way to play keyboard only? You mean ASWD without the mouse turning your character? Yeah, I think you can rebind absolutely everything in SWTOR so you don't rely on mouse clicks. Check out your controls and see where you can double bind stuff off the mouse.

Check out your controls and see where you can double bind stuff off the mouse. Playing 100% keyboard though will become quite unsustainable eventually unless you have insanely dexterous fingers, if we're including keybinding EVERYTHING you ever use. Personally, I keep the default keybinds for quickbar #1, and then use Q, F, E, R, T, Y, G, H and mouse buttons 3-5. That's been enough for me to get everything I really use with any regularity, anything beyond that is used rarely enough that it's been fine to just click the ability, or it's non-combat stuff like refreshing the class buff, speeders, quick travel, priority transports etc.

If she wants to try it, why not? I have a standard 42 binds set up for every character i’ve played, because I pvp’d and pve’d on most of them, but for solo it is not necessary. I certainly consider the number of abilities in Swtor extreme to the point of driving me to leave eventually. I shudder to think what it is on level 70. That’s one thing I do not miss.

Is there any way to play keyboard only? I play almost all keyboard, but there are a few things that you can't really do without the mouse. As a subscriber, combat is feasible enough if you don't mind having tons of keybinds, but it if you're playing free, you'll be much more limited in terms of quickbars. As for me, I have around 36 set by default, and that covers pretty much everything I could need in battle, and it also controls most of the UI toggles, but not necessarily their elements. Also, regarding your mission question: you can generally ignore any mission that doesn't have a purple icon for the contact. Those are "story critical" missions, and the game's pretty close to balanced around the XP you'll get just doing those. If you get behind the level of enemies you're fighting, you can throw in a few extras here and there.

If you get behind the level of enemies you're fighting, you can throw in a few extras here and there. While you definitely CAN just do the "story critical" missions that will basically be the class story and the main planetary quest line of each planet you visit, I would definitely recommend doing most of the stuff you come across at least the first time around for the story experience, if not the XP. It's nice when leveling your 50th character or whatever to just skip through all but the essentials, but doing just the bare minimum leaves the game and the characters, especially your player character feeling rather bare bones since you're missing the majority of the content/dialogue. I don't know what the leveling rate is as a F2P player, but at least with a sub right now you'll most likely hit the level cap waaaaaaaaayyyyy before even the end of the base class story, let alone any of the expansions. I might be in the minority, but I actually liked the leveling and balance way back around when the game launched up until roughly when they introduced the level scaling for everything. If you did all of the sidequests and maybe fit in a handful of flashpoints as you went along, you'd hit that original level cap of 50 sometime on Corellia, which was fitting since that was right at the end of the original story portion before you started endgame stuff like ops and hard mode FP's. Another thing that might get tedious when leveling your umpteenth character but that part of me really misses was that the random mobs you came across on each planet were WAY tougher than now. You actually had to use that channeled heal ability between groups of enemies every now and then before jumping to the next! And something like a single gold enemy could actually kill you if you didn't somewhat know what you were doing, even if you had a healer comp or played a healer yourself with a tank comp, whereas now you can breeze through a dozen of them at once. It did a much, MUCH better job of prepping people for the group PvE content.

As an F2P her progression is uber slow, and she will be capped at 50, and won’t get past Corellia.

I suggest the planet+class missions. It should keep you about the right level. If needed you can do a couple extras or save them for once you're done and come back later. I love most of the planet stories though.

Doesn't everyone get the Dr. Oggurob holostatue now? Or ever since Rise of the Hutt Cartel became just part of the deal and not something you had to purchase separately? I was just thinking about the skill trainers, and that nifty little holostatue is the only trainer I've ever used for years now. That's it. Your insinuation that the EXCLUSIVE SUB REWARD that validates some people's lives is available to every common scrub is an insult of the highest order. Prepare to be flogged with wet noodles. But no, the Hutt trainer is still locked as a sub reward. Daring to suggest otherwise in the wrong place will get you (metaphorically) flayed for real though. At least unless/until BioWare finally abandons this bullshit idea and I get to rub people's faces in it. Anyway, for the rest of us there's the Satele (Pub) and Malgus (IMP) statues that do the same thing for their respective sides, sadly minus the "haHA!". I think there may be a Senya one around there that does both as well. Problem is they're all well beyond the price range of any F2P (and most sub as well; thanks, gougers!) so unless they do a direct sale and you're willing to fork over CCs, you're out of luck. As for interface, I am a primarily a clicker (shocking, I know). Anything that's not the number keys within reach of my left hand gets clicked. The only exception is healing. I use the F keys to switch between group members and I've bound some additional heals to other keys. I could probably bind more, but ehhh. And as far as progression goes, if it's your first time, do the planetaries+class story people mentioned, but I would say also pick up the heroics. Not only are they a good source of XP (and my primary source for leveling gear now) but the quick travel points to them can be convenient for getting around. Subsequent times, you can skip planetaries, do just class +heroics + the odd flashpoint and you're good. For the latter, be on the lookout for storymode, some of them you can do a solo mode for and do at your own pace. Otherwise just queue and hope for a non-crazy one and/or a good team. Use general XP boosts if you got'em.

The Senya holostatue is the only one I have, but I don't remember where I got it from.
Doing only the main quests will get you leveled sure, but you end up missing out on some neat stuff.

I decided that maybe SWTOR just didn't know what to do wth my computer screen having built in speakers. I plugged in some $1 headphones. The sound works. I went through the opening sequence and had a laugh when my Sith Warrior said she'd have "killing acolytes" in common with the monster slugs. it made me wonder if F. Hawke writers had worked on this. F.Hawke voiced F.Inquisitor in Swtor. Warrior has a few funny responses, but Bounty Hunter and Smuggler are the two closest to Hawke. Bounty Gunter as a aggressive-humorous Hawke, Smuggler as that charming self-depreciating Hawke. Yep, I suspected the Swtor is not reading your sound output correctly, you can go through sounds options and see if you can reselect it for the speaker to start working. Sorry to correct you, but F!Hawk - Jo Wyatt - voiced Female Imperial Agent in SWTOR . Inquisitor was voiced by another great actress - Xanthe Elbrick. About missions - for the first character and first time on one side (Republic/Imperial) I'd say do everything. Including quests that you have to actually switch on (on the map top right corner - check the check box). All the quests are animated and voiced, all have some story in it - why ignore them?!

The bolded is why I like doing planet missions while leveling, because your companions will sometimes comment on things that are happening and the like. It gives you a deeper relationship with them, I think. I actually liked Vette. I was even writing a fanfiction for a while from her perspective for that romance (and slash with Quinn obviously. It is a fanfiction after all). I dunno, she was just more fun and less irritating to me than some of their other littl' sister rogues Imoen incarnations.

Vette was one, and, I am sure there was another at some point, but I am growing old, so my memory is not what it used to be.... Did not really like either LI in the BH story. Both male and female protagonists though were awesome. The one LI that actually creeped me out in the "taking advantage of" way was Nadia. Mako, I did not mind, just not really was keen to romance her. Her story was interesting. My favorite female LIs were Vette, Ashara and Elara.
