So are the news about patch 6.0 being a new expansion true? Looks like it. Can't say I'm too excited about going back to the Imp vs Pub crap, especially since it won't even be as interesting as it was in the vanilla stories. It's not like the outlander, zakuul and etc were interesting either.

So will there be separate Republic and Empire storylines?

So I started playing SWTOR...I bought the game when it came out, and wasn't into it. Can't say I'm a huge SW fan.
But somehow I got hooked. I blame it on playing an Inquisitor. Years ago, I played some kind of Jedi and felt like tearing out my own eyeballs. Also I still feel like SWTOR is a really nice solo experience, but not so much as a MMO.
Still there's something slightly goofy about SW, the light side is all a bunch of dirty hippies who take themselves too seriously and blablabla about the light side but will kill people all the same. And the Empire with the slavery, humans first, and the sith killing each others and scaring everyone as a hobby ...it's hard to roleplay a "Yes, let's save the Empire !"
Mostly my Inquisitor enjoys murdering other siths, insulting everyone he meets, and then turn around and save orphanage and kittens from trees. It is amusing.

Honestly, I'll be glad to be away from Zakuul. I've mostly disliked the whole experience. I wonder when we'll get more info on the expansion and a release date? Maybe at E3?

I have been a Star Wars geek for as long as I can remember; going back to Republic vs. Empire is nothing new. In fact, it always seems to be a story line that comes up every three or so arc's in the Star Wars timeline/universe.
Great Hyperspace War, Republic versus Empire... Okay; Mandalorian War, Republic versus Mandalorian's, that was an interesting five minutes; Jedi Civil War, Republic versus Sith Empire, okay, I can understand the Empire wanting revenge; Dark Wars, Republic versus whomever was left of the Sith Empire, okay I guess they want to keep this going; Great Galactic War, Republic versus Empire, the bad guys recover the Empire and do the same stuff again... AGAIN; Cold War, Republic versus Empire, fake cease fire; Galactic War, Republic versus Empire, basically Great Galactic War 2.0; Revolt against the Eternal Empire, multiple parties versus Eternal Empire, finally a change of pace after so long; unknown, we will see; New Sith Wars, Republic versus New Sith Empire, again? ... AGAIN?!?! Mandalorian Civil War, Mandalorian's versus Mandalorian's, long over due change of pace arc that lasted all but five minutes; Clone Wars, Republic versus Not Republic (Separatists), another change of pace, except this time two democracies fight each other, both lose, but here is the funny part... the Empire returns, but instead of "Sith Empire", it is now called "Galactic Empire"... Wooo; Galactic Civil War, Alliance to Restore Republic versus Galactic Empire, remnants of the former Republic band together, defeat the Empire, and restore... You guessed it... the Galactic Republic. Except now it is called "New Republic", most likely for P.R. reasons; Cold War, Republic versus First Order, Imperial remnants pull a "Rebel Alliance" and form the First Order -- which is basically Empire 2.0 -- to fight the Republic in minor ways; Resistance-First Order War, Resistance versus First Order, the Republic is defeated again, the Resistance loses -- and grows smaller and smaller because of plot reasons -- the First Order dominates and corrupts, and it ends on a cliffhanger that the Resistance can... rebuild... Oh gee, I wonder what they could rebuilding... ... ...
I am not saying I hate Star Wars -- I, in fact, love it greatly -- I just think it is silly to be surprised when people point out how the story is going back to the Republic versus Empire. Are you really surprised by that?

I personally am just concerned about how things (like the Alliance, and all of our comps, and certain decisions of who to side with during Iokath, etc) are handled. Don't have a ton of faith in the team at this point. We will see though. Honestly I am excited that we're getting an expansion at all. :heh:

Everything after Oricon was a mistake, and even that was pushing it. Though it goes deeper than that. Anything not the class stories or class story adjacent is unfortunately either Bigger Jaws or trying to be, with varying levels of ridiculousness. Malgus, the Dread Masters, Revan, Zakuul, all of it is the same -oh noes, threat to both sides, drop everything and work together or separately to take it down. Makeb for all its issues is probably the least offender- it's small, it doesn't seem like the center of the galaxy has shifted to it, and both sides are true to character in their goals.
Republic vs Empire (or really, Jedi vs Sith) is the Star Wars formula and there's no escaping it. There are subversions or twists you can do to get around it sometimes, but Bigger Jaws isn't it. And even then you'll probably still draw plenty of criticism.

Nico, yes you get him during the KotFE story but subs could get him early as well as when he was first advertised as a companion Bioware bungled the wording and were forced to give a token so you could summon him early, like level 1 early. As for Shae, I can't remember if she was an exclusive sub reward or not. Not that it really matters as you still have to be subbed to get them with the new promotion anyway.

Allow you to experience the story without having some idiot shouting in the chatbox: "SKIP! SPACEBAR!" or crying about how the tank or healer sucks and it wasn't his/her fault for being dumb enough to stay in the middle of the boss aoe attack. I did liked the Eternal Throne story, i found it handmade to the JK. Only problem was it made no sense for half the classes who weren't force users.

It's not like either of them have any story content as companions... Shae has the story content where she's going senile and you meet her right after teaming up with her on Darvannis and she talks about how you recently teamed up on Denova instead. ...or was that just lazy editing?

They're having a big sale on the CM. Almost everything they've ever had will be available for purchase. I might look up a few armor sets and jump on them. Wish they would do the 50% off collections with it I already had Nico and Shae and I don't care if they make them available to everyone. It's not like they're special anymore anyways, what with our 847 companions that don't speak or interact with us and all do the same thing

And yeah, I agree they should've given something out to people who already had them as well, so everyone gets something. But I'm mostly just happy they ended this false exclusivity bullshit. Including being able to face Revan solo. Well, if by "solo" you mean "all-star cast of NPCs wails on him for 20 minutes, and also the PC is there" then yeah I guess. That was by far the biggest wank I had seen in a game, until Putting up with the Valkorions came along.

I mostly finished my Inqui story... I didn't play the story of each planets, I did the class story. The Inqui class story is okayish. The start is cool and the ending as well, the middle with the whole running after annoying ghosts is meh. I didn't really follow any light/dark side stuff. I felt the Inquisitor is good for that (don't know about other classes). The snark can be strong with this character, and I enjoyed it.
The expansions are rather bizarre, I felt like I was in a Telltale game, and the illusion of a mmo completly vanished.
It also felt like my Sith inquisitor wasn't so sith inquisitor afterall. I guess it's partly my fault because I choose a lot of light side choice. But I didn't feel like playing a wannabe emperor tyrant. Especially with the already psycho emperor tyrant the pc got in his head. Poor Inquisitor seems to attract every annoying ghost lying around.
I had no romance in the main game. Frankly I first wanted to throw Ashara out of the airlock. I like Jedi, especially the silent and away from me type. She grew on me a bit by the end. But I did make my Inqui flirt with her...and mock her in her face in the same convo.
I romanced Theron ... in insight it was a good idea. First I didn't realise who his mother was. So there was this very awkward moment in the revan story when I went "wait a minute...I banged the son of a master jedi??????!!!!!" Then I got his father killed...I was playing a Sith afterall, also I can't resist Acina, she's so sassy.
Anyway it all ends with the Theron "betrayal", although I sense some shenanigans because he didn't make any sense. I'm causing chaos and endless war because I want peace ???
Romance aside...I don't really know where the story is going beyond a shady organisation that probably wants to end the alliance and the Inquisitor life. On the bright side, if Theron stupidly die , I have a good reason to go full dark side now.
But yeah it really doesn't feel like a mmo game at all ...
I will probably finish an agent class story, and I can't imagine questing or farming beyond the main storyline. Also I don't feel like redoing Zakuul...

Isn't that pretty much what an Operations boss is? Yes, but at least Ops do you the common courtesy of letting you know it's group content and it's framed that way from the start. The building-sized multi-million HP thing is there to facilitate multiple people beating on it. It's still wank, storywise, but it justifies itself on multiplayer gameplay. The Revan fight has no such justification, in fact it specifically spurns it as it forces you to do it solo. It's pure wank, because Revan.

Ah well, they saved me some $$, so I suppose I should be grateful. I don't think I've ever used Nico or Shae. Don't care who has them. I would like to see them introduce more sub rewards though. This offering seems like it was a desperate move to bring back a few subs/keep a few subs around until at least the May patch. They'll have to come up with something more to keep people around after that though, considering the expansion isn't likely to drop before the end of summer, if then.

They're having a big sale on the CM. Almost everything they've ever had will be available for purchase. I might look up a few armor sets and jump on them. Wish they would do the 50% off collections with it I already had Nico and Shae and I don't care if they make them available to everyone. It's not like they're special anymore anyways, what with our 847 companions that don't speak or interact with us and all do the same thing Almost everything - except the stuff I wanted to buy. No Mira outfit. Bummer.
Did snag an Atton one for my Smuggler.
