Rio is definitely not an easy map, but I find that using a grenade kit, like the Krosent, the Batsol or the QME, helps a lot.

Also escorts or pizzas on objective waves can very easy turn to nightmares.

Yes, I used the most unrewarding weapon in the game - the cheesegar.  

Working on my Solo Mastery number 100 (50PC, 35 Xbox and 14 PS3), I am also trying to solo Platinum for the first time on PS3, so I decide to go all cheese: Turian Cabal with Carrier&Acolyte White/Reapers. Everything goes quite well up to w4, when a Brute(!) grabs me in the middle(!!) of my Poison Strike and executes me on the spot...  I've met "magnetic hands" on a Banshee but on a Brute?

I double-checked the definition and it says: "Invulnerable while this power is in effect."  

It's absolutely amazing the number of ways in which this game manages to piss me off...

P.S. Actually, reviewing it, the Brute stopped me in the middle of the Poison Strike by melee-ing me and after that grabbed me and executed me on the spot. Still doesn't make any sense...

Since my laptop died, I am playing on my old computer (C2D E8500+4GB DDR3+GTX 550 Ti) until I get to but new PC - which will have to wait some time. With heavy tweaking of graphics settings, there is stable framerate of 60 FPS.
Got to the stage where I can comfortably solo platinum in 40-50 minutes if everything goes right, but I am satisfied with everything under 60 minutes to be honest. So decide to take on one of the challenges, nothing special Reapers/Giant/Plat.
Maybe this could be my first solo to record video of? I set MSI Afterburner to record it. Framerate is around 25-30 FPS, sometimes goes down to single digit FPS, but I managed to stay alive and carry on. Record the whole thing. Took me 72 minutes (WTF?), find out my video is 133 GB (exactly how much there was free space available) and it stopped recording around 30th minute, and even tho it stopped recording - it still greatly throttled my PCs performance.

But RNG BS make this game so much fun! I've never slammed my fist on the key board and I've never thrown the mouse on the desk in frustration over all the BS, oh never!

Well, PC Platinum solo number 16 (18th overall) was Turian (what else?) Cabal Vanguard with Piranha/Acolyte on White against the Reapers. Again it was too long (113:25) which is why I didn't bother with the screen capture. I survived Targets on W3 (which left me with only 3 missiles), Devices(thank you RNG trolls!) on W6 and Pizzas on W10 (to my great shame, delivering pizzas is something I have yet to learn). I understand the best way to learn is with a Batarian or a Krogan as they do not dodge... Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Anyhow, still 9 to go.
After which I'll try soloing platinum on the WiiU and that should probably keep me busy till ME:A gets out...

This being the official thread for solos and the related pain (as our lovely OP pointed out) I thought it's about high time to revive it. The title comes from my latest endeavor: the under 60min Plat Solo. As you might see from my previous posts I managed the feat several times (22 times to be exact) but I've never gotten under 1hour.
So I've decided to go as OP as possible: GI with GPS&Hurricane. Here's the result my first attempt:

Of course the game trolled me: targets W3 and W6 and some miraculous spawns right near me (twice Ravager plus one Marauder), still I'll have to do better in my nuking as I was left with only one missile when a Phantom (of course!) shishkebabed me...

Third Troll

Is the toughest one to swallow: had 2 missiles left on the end of w9 when a phantom spawned right next to me; managed to kill her, but got grabbed by the Banshee...

After complaining in the other thread here are some successes, one for each faction. I my first attempt with the Justicar was with PPR and failed wave 10, switched to Harrier and all is good in the world, next time I'm speccing into pull. The three posted are Destroyer Saber/Talon Reapers/Giant/Gold (unintentional as I joined wave 2 as the only person in the game and no others joined, would not have done reapers with him because Banshees suck), Justicar, Harrier Collectors/Reactor Hazard/Gold, Geth Engineer Falcon Geth/White/Gold. There's a TGI Crusader solo vs. White/Cerberus/Gold I forgot to take a photo of too. Time to start UUG solo adventures.
