Since around 10 minutes my normal DA5 background picture keeps vanishing. It shows for 1 second and then just goes white.  Selecting the picture in the selection window does work, but only until I change the page (i.e. refreshing/reading a thread/writing this thread) and then the picture vanishes again.  regack |

I mean updating as in going into the admin panel, removing the existing uploaded image from the theme, and uploading it again. The default theme image is having some issues (it's turning into "null" in the code, covering the custom choice people have selected, hence the flashing, if you have the default background then it doesn't show the image at all). I'm using black. |

Sorry, sorry, a plugin got activated that shouldn't have been activated. Completely my fault, I thought it wasn't active.
Side note, when you put a new plugin into ProBoards, the default state is ON.. instead of OFF. Now, why they chose this route, instead of the other route, I don't know... because, as everyone can attest, any settings that aren't correct will muck up the works, unless you ACTIVELY disable the plugin.
It's not an excuse, since I know that's how it works, but now you know, and knowing is half the battle. The other half is red and blue lasers.

I suspect its an issue with elements of the page being put up in the wrong order.
Instead of loading the plain white layer first then loading the proper background image on top of it like it should, the page is loading the rear layer later, covering up the image.
If I'm right, that'll be why you briefly see the image then see it vanish, that's the delay between loading the image and loading the base layer.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly it, the way ProBoards has it's plugins working, essentially using javascript to inject changes... it's ... well, it's not the best, but it's what we have.
