That ambient "thump-thump" on Ilos as Shepard chases after Saren. Was this ever explained anywhere in the lore? Am contemplating some fan-fiction that would use it but don't want to step on established lore.

I don't remember it. Was it background music? If there's something there, go for it. I'm writing an ME-fic that's probably going to at least partially re-write, or streamline, military rank. I've also made little changes like having the lettering on dog tags for biotics be engraved in blue. That one is so that military personnel or medics can be aware the the person might potentially lash out biotically if in pain of when barely cognizant. There are so many things in the ME universe that are ripe for exploration.

I remember the thumping. I don't have an explanation as to why it's in the game. Maybe it's for the situation that Shepard is in knowing if he/she doesn't stop Saren, it would be the beginning of the end.

I've played it on both PS and Xbox and you only hear it on one of them. Can't remember which one though. It was really audible though from memory.
