I'm getting notifications for people posting in threads I've posted in but I've never got those before. I haven't changed any settings. Is this a new Proboards thing? The notices aren't even regarding people I'm friends with.

Haven't changed anything on the forum side, it could be ProBoards doing something. I'll see if there's anything in their support forum. Otherwise, please keep me updated for what it's doing. I'm not currently getting any unusual notifications.

I also get notifications for posts made in threads I bookmarked or have posted in myself. I still use the Experimental theme, if that might have something to do with this. 
Edit: It seems to affect only bookmarked threads, not those posted in.

Edit: It seems to affect only bookmarked threads, not those posted in. It's still annoying and unnecessary. I already get the little red "new" box next to "bookmarked" so I know there are new things posted. I don't need the detail of who posted where in my notifications, especially for people I don't care about. I'm unchecking the bookmark box under profile settings/notifications to see if that stops them from coming in. ::crosses fingers::

Okay, I found it, apparently it's a new ProBoards... feature. So, changing themes won't help, it's just... something new they dropped. I'm guessing these are bookmark notifications. A change was implemented yesterday that integrated bookmark notifications into the Profile notifications. You can read more about it here: linkHere's what it says, if you don't want to follow the link: We took a look at how the bookmarks work, and how you are informed of any changes to those threads you decided to mark as important. In ProBoards v5, you receive an extra menu item (“Bookmarks”) when you bookmark a thread. This navigation item can also have a notification bubble indicating that one or more bookmarked threads have been updated. This notification is entirely separate from your other forum notifications. This leads to either the menu item being completely ignored, the notification ignored, or simply the under-utilization of the bookmark feature on forums.
To fix this, we are merging bookmark notifications into the primary Profile Notifications bubble that most users commonly interact with.
Do I need to make any changes to my forum?
The answer for the vast majority of admins will be “no”. There is no required change, the notifications for bookmarks will now be merged with the rest of the Profile Notifications, rather than being separate.To keep this from happening, go to your profile, edit profile, notifications... scroll down and look for bookmark notifications, and uncheck the box. I haven't unchecked it yet in this screenshot, so it still shows as checked, sorry..  |
