I wonder why Pol didn't have his vallaslin yet if that were so. I mean, during that time he's been with the clan for what...4 to 5 years by that point? According to what we were told previously, the person has to feel ready themselves before they take them. Also if they flinch or show discomfort when they are being applied, then it is considered they are not yet ready for them. If Pol was a trainee hunter and wanted the vallaslin of Andruil, it is possible he had to prove himself in some way before he could take them. Going into the cave with the hunters may even have been the test of nerve that he had to pass before being considered worthy of the vallaslin. Ah right, I forgot the part with the whole 'being ready and not showing discomfort/fear' thing, that would make sense vartherals are supposed to leave the people (elves) alone, unless agitated...which in the few instances we've seen one, yeah... as Merrill stated, something must've provoked it somehow, Right back in Act 1 Merrill says that the spirits of Sundermount are not resting easy, so I would imagine that would apply to the varteral as well. I think the demon probably had a lot to do with that. I think so too, after all the demon has been there since before the clan came to Sundermount, Merrill says that it might've been there for years if not centuries... coupled with the whole 'the veil is thin here' part, it would make sense for a varterral to be affected as well

I think starting from Act 1. The Demon maybe influenced not only her but the whole clan. I don't understand why Sabrae clan of the Dalish GW from DAO changed so much. They just turned into some assholes tbh even if you speak polite with them. So maybe the Demon changed them too. The Demon possessed the Keeper, influenced the whole clan, spirits of the mountain (also the life of the clan, you can hear that hunting goes bad e.g.). A theory but it could explain clan's behavior and some other things.

If you mean their attitude towards humans, it's about the same. Distrustful, but can be convinced to make an exception. something like that. As a future Dalish GW I talk to the members of the clan, there are even cutscenes. And from those talks I get an impression that Sabrae Clan is not hostile in the whole: like e.g. Junar teaching Pol how to hunt tells that they will never become bandits when Pol mentions stories about the Dalish, they even trade with towns/villages; the whole clan actually treat Duncun well; Merrill and Fenarel show respect for him. So the whole impression: Sabrae Clan is actually toletant to hamans. But in DA2 after (again say it) 50-60 PTs I ALWAYS get the impression that the clan is hostile no matter how you talk to them (hell, even when you ask iron bark and use polite phrase, the Master is insulted, but use ironic phrase and he thinks you are respectful though you just use sarcasm + some phrases like "humans, wonderful! Do your business and go away" or "Cause trouble and you meet our blades".) I thought about possibility that my impression is based upon playing a Dalish Elf as it is (my 2nd favorite origin after the City Elf) and then coming to the clan as a human - there will be difference, of course. But I thought about it a lot and that's not the point in my case. I still find that the clan changed and the theory is the same: a demon influenced them.

If you mean their attitude towards humans, it's about the same. Distrustful, but can be convinced to make an exception. Alright. Just yesterday finished Dalish Origin in DAO. Talked to EVRYONE THERE. Always told Duncan is a good man, can be trusted. The Keeper, Merrill, Fenarel were good to him. Some just asked my opinion about Duncam and I always said "He is a good man and can be tusted". Junar again told they would never become bandits and that Pol was fortunate because Junar thouhgt Pol himself was a bandit (but he just wanted to find the Dalish). Again, my general opnion the Sabrae Clan is rather tolatant to humnans. But another opinion. I still think the Keeper became possessed from Act 1, but maybe the clan became so hilstile because they lost two of them - Tamlen and your GW. As you always stumble on sentences that it's such a loss if someone dies, that you belong to the whole clan + Merrill decided to work with that shard. And who know what a possessed Keeper told the clan about Merrill. So the loss of two of them changed the clan as well I think + possessed Keeeper influence. Note: sometimes it's so annoying you can't figure out some things in the game and write only theories (good for mental development as it is, but w/o satisfaction as I always want to know devs opinion on facts they gave us, even if I need too dig it out and find clues.

Talk more to them. Some of thr Dalish npcs there suspect Duncan was the one who hurt Tamlen and others weren't happy about him sticking around in the camp a long time. You simply were lucky enough to only get the lines you'd like to hear.

You simply were lucky enough to only get the lines you'd like to hear. I know that the Dalish know GW have duties and they do not involve helping out of charity. He came after darkspawn. Period. About the rest like "suspected Duncan hurt Tamlen" - it's the first time I even hear about it even play Dalish Origin very often. Talked to simple npc and they always say phrases like "I want to be a hunter as well" (children), "we lost Tamlen?" "What happened?". Nothing ever-never about suspecting Duncan hurting Tamlen. That's strange. I talked to EVERY of them. Maybe it depends on the answers you give about Duncan? Hmm. Your comment puzzeled me.
Added: I wrote "in general tolerant". Not" were very glad to meet him". So some happy, other not.

Your comment puzzeled me. sometimes when you click on certain npc's they have a set of dialogues they repeat a number of times
for example, one hunter may say "We lost Tamlen" and the next time you click on them they say another line, I think that's what Iddy meant
I went into the toolset, and one of the lines the hunters (mostly the male ones) can say is "Can we trust this Grey Warden? How do we know he didn't hurt Tamlen?" so yeah, some of them are suspicious of Duncan, since he did return with you (the player) but not Tamlen who they know left the camp with you.

Will try it next time (don't have saves there). Didn't understand what Iddy meant really. Turns out could be simly explained in one sentence (clicked only on some npc always several times, but stumbled only on phrases I wrote above). Again, thank you.

Or even inclidng important events. Grand game.

Now, thanks to LadyofNemesis, it makes sense what Iddy meant about the Clan not happy to meet a human. I just wasn't lucky to get those lines in DAO (not what "i'd like to hear" - funny phrase). Maybe bugs or something. But still the topic: "from Act 1".

Favorite origin - City She-elf 2h warrior (I just like when my females run around with a huge sword or another weapon; the same goes for Hawke or Inquisitor =) Favorite and ONLY romance - Zevran (ftw). A great character with development, characters which I really like.

(currently on fourth) I've played DA2 more then I've done Origins though...and only finished Inquisition twice now
currently I'm trying to make my canon world state...so far so good

I, e.g. is a huge fan of DA2 and DAO (also MET) and play when have time, have many-many ideas about builds/patry compositions (only yesterday finished a game like that in DLCs). Tbh, I don't really like mages (in DAO if play, it's a melee mage, like was yesterday). Always prefer to be on the frontlines playing as damager. So 2h warrior suits just fine and is my favorite =). About canon world state - I, e.g. again, have done it already, and now only try to use my ideas in all 3 games Mais, good-luck with building your own state of world. It's really fun and interesting

It's really fun and interesting I just dislike how slow two-handers swing...else I'd play more of them
my problem is, that I tend to get fixed on a certain story quite easily and then never play in a different way that way my characters tend to turn into carbon copies of one another (coupled with also looking very much alike), for example...I've yet to play "evil" in any of the games
for me, I also really love archer rogues in Origins, some people don't like them due to low damage output or something like that,
but I once had an archer that could deal with that one abomination in the Circle quest (in the room with the captured tranquil) almost single handed...and he was I believe level 10 I'm currently doing a mage playthrough, but chances are I'll create a new character once I'm done with this one
and thank you, I'm having quite some fun atm.

I just dislike how slow two-handers swing...else I'd play more of them that's why I like DA2 combat system and tactics to the death. But I actually feel the same: even if in DAO 2h warrior are slow, I still play them more than others With "evil PT" (though imo the options are grey in DAO, in DA2 they mostly can be evil, in DAI there is nothing evil at all), I had a lot of fun. If you like such things, you'll get a great satisfaction from such PTs =) Wish you have fun! About DAO Archers: I don't agree they do low damage, actually they do a huge damage, but the probleme with them - enemies just die from auto-arttacks and that becomes really boring (I tried every class and spec, even warrior archer PT). So archers are very good damagers just boring (my last Dalish GW is a rogue archer - who talked to npc and couldn't get lines "Duncan hurt Tamlen". I stopped at Ostagar as was already bored, switched to my warriors but still want to play the archer as know she - in my case - will do hell of a damage even from 1 shot soon).

Merrill was actively communicating with Audacity regularly throughout the six years she's part of Hawke's crew, which is implied she does because she feels confident that said demon is locked securely in the idol on Sundermount. But this changes when Audacity is removed from the idol and she can't talk to it from a distance anymore, which is implied to mean it has been moved. Therefore, Marethari could not have been possessed longer than it would take Merrill to notice during Act III, and then as long as it takes her and Hawke to visit Sundermount to check. It's also heavily implied that once Merethari let the demon possess her she as its vessel did not move from the cave we find her in, as the rest of the clan has noticed her absence as well.
Would Merrill, as desperate as she was to fix the Eluvian in Act III, have waited very long in between "messaging" her demon friend for help? I doubt it. I don't know how often a Keeper might seclude themselves or for how long before their clan becomes worried, but given the likely hours of travel time between Merrill telling Hawke that her "friend" is missing and arriving at the Sundermount cave I'd estimate Marethari to be no more than a day or two possessed.
