Had no idea Shep could get an apartment in ME1. Never have done Pinnacle station. I'm about to head to Ilos but is it worth doing to get his apartment to check it out?
Also, how long does Pinnacle take?

If you like playing ME1 and want to play pinnacle station to see new content then yes it's worth it but the apartment isn't worth doing all of it for otherwise. You should just look it up online and see it. How long pinnacle station takes depends on how good you are at combat in ME1 and what you difficulty you play it at. I would say somewhere between an hour and four or more. However it's more or less just virtual combat with a few people talking in between. It's a cheap dlc to buy so I would recommend playing it once at least.
And completing pinnacle station gets you fifty war assets in ME3 if I remember correctly

Shepard's apartment is really only worth it for the store, which allows you to buy random gear from a mostly-good collection of items: Serrice Council Omni Tools and Amps, and HMW X weapons (the Spectre weapons) to name a few.
It can be a grind though, and how long it takes you depends on how well you know the DLC, game difficulty, and so. It may take you a few tries to beat some of the missions.
Since you are this late in the game -- and I believe you stated in another post how ridiculously overpowered you felt -- you can safely ignore playing it. It has absolutely no effect on ME2 or ME3.
NOTE: If I remember correctly, I believe there was some cut content in ME2 that referenced Pinnacle Station. I think it was a Galaxy News audio file that made reference to someone wanting to beat Shepard's record at Pinnacle Station. This content was cut from the final game, but it may still exist in some audio files. I think I am remembering that correctly.

Also, how long does Pinnacle take? The fact of getting an apartment is cool but by the time ME3 rolls around it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Maybe Shep's death caused it to be sold off.

Since I play on the ps3, the dlc is not available. Maybe if the trilogy were to be remastered, it might be available to play on the playstation 4, or ps5, if that's what it will be called when released.

Shepard's Apartement is really only a single room. In addition, you can't travel around on the planet itself. Red mentioned the best feature about it being the "deliveries" terminal. The Wiki hast a listing of the gear that is available, but as I mentioned before, it's not like a store where you can decide to buy only what you want. This is more like slots... you pay an amount of credits iup front to activate the terminal and it will then randomly select an item from the pool. As a side note, there is also a free medi-gel dispenser and a grenade dispenser were you can always fill up your supply. The only other item that Shepard can interact with is to turn the music on or off.
The DLC usually takes me about 2 hours to play on insanity. The "story" behind the DLC is very minimal... just a few conversations. Mostly, it consists of several short combat simulations... capture, time trial, hunt and survival. The goal is to get Shepard's name to the top of the leaderboard for every single trial. Once that is done, a little special challenge will open up. It's also worth noting that, if you do return to Pinnacle Station after completing it the first time, other contestants will have beaten Shepard in a few of the categories... giving the player incentive to try to better their scores/times to put Shepard back on top of the leaderboards. There is also another conversation you can have with Ahern about the deliveries you get through the deliveries terminal in Shepard's apartment.

I don't think I've ever gone back to the station after completing all the challenges. I have left and gone back mid-way though, and had to re-do some scenarios so I was back at the top again.

I watched a video of a tour of the apartment. Nice view - but yeah probably not worth the effort to unlock it now. I like the elevator music console - lol. Also I saw how the deliveries worked - pretty nice for gear. Next playthrough, I will do this earlier.
Just finished Ilos, heading back to the Citadel for the end. Starting ME2 tomorrow.

Maybe that's the why Anderson gave his apartment on the Citadel to Shepard, he wishes to move there with Kahlee, since the location is on the fringes of the galaxy.
Perhaps he hoped to pick a ride with some stragglers going to Andromeda.
