Kept running into this MEUITM game crashing bug during testing around with other mods and clean game re-installs. Posting simple solution here in the case it saves others troubleshooting time.
Has to do with BioEngine config file in documents (C:\Users\Emil\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config). Original workaround was deleting it and so it will install a new one, but then it will default to low graphics settings which will mess with the MEUITM texture mod when bringing it back to high graphical settings. Forcing a clean game reinstall.
So better solution is before installing MEUITM hi-res textures, is to go to in game settings to max out graphical settings, then exit game so it saves it in the BioEngine. Then simple go to my documents, locate BioEngine, copy and paste it somewhere else so you have it as a backup in case you get the rendering thread exception error. Now you can install MEUITM and if the error shows up, just copy and past that BioEngine high graphical setting file you saved over the one that's in my documents.

This error should not occur with Anniversary Edition. You must have another issue. Did you try to apply game & lod setting with MEM? Also make sure you followed the step by step in the Nexus page (ie: you should run the game once before installing MEUITM: copy/past from the page: 1). Run Once. (and optionally make a back up) Now we can run the unmodded game one time for the game to establish directories, paths, and settings. This is a good time to go in and Max Out in-game graphics settings and choose your gaming resolution)

And yes, run game once first + have it backed. Not sure if other two mods messed with it (Re-calibrated & Controller) and the various orders I've installed them (though try to install MEUITM last if can remember). Don't believe it always occurs, if recall correctly. Though once it let me in game and as soon as I loaded into a new area (from Presidium to Presidium Tower), game crashed before getting off elevator or facing toward new area at top of elevator ride.

Well maybe you should ask why you have this problem on the nexus page, this is really not normal ^^; I don't use recalibrated or controller mod so not sure if they are the issue >.<
