I don't know that they can't re-capture the charm of Kotor 1 and 2. In their respective games, Revan and Jedi Exile have their charm and excellent for their games.

For what it's worth... food for thought?

It's a terrible idea.
A movie trilogy set after KOTOR1/2 (there is a 300 years gap before SWTOR) that might reference the events would work, but doing an adaptation would be a disaster.

I've liked all the Star Wars movies so far, but this idea has me very worried. These were roleplaying games where we were the main character, an active participant, so there is no way they will be able to portray the characters in a way that will not piss a lot of people off. Just look at the reactions to some choices about characters that were never ours to begin with. Even Bioware couldn't get the characters right when they brought them back as NPCs in SWTOR, and they made KOTOR. I hope they decide against the games being turned into movies and instead focus on another part of the Old Republic history. They have thousands of years to play with.
