Hasbro wants to make another Baldur's Gate sequel but it's early days yet: 'We certainly hope that it's not another 25 years' www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/hasbro-wants-to-make-another-baldurs-gate-sequel-but-its-early-days-yet-we-certainly-hope-that-its-not-another-25-years/"We're now talking to lots of partners and being approached by a lot of partners who are embracing the challenge of, what does the future of the Baldur's Gate franchise look like?" says Evans. "So we certainly hope that it's not another 25 years, as it was from Baldur's Gate 2 to 3, before we answer that. But we're going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product that could represent the future of Baldur's Gate." "I think it's too early to express specifics and I think that there's a much bigger question about how we approach Baldur's Gate in the future," says Evans. "But I would like to think that all of those characters, for the sake of the fans, could potentially appear in future products."

Okay! I did the finale and epilogue late yester afternoon / evening. For Daarsendahriia Mirai we're coming at 114hrs and 39 mins plus a few more minutes for the last couple of convos before hitting the credits. Which of course does not include all the reloads when a combat goes bad or the CC time The Rundown: So the observor fight pretty much slowly encompassed the whole complex and I ended up summoning some fists to provide further back up, though they weren't really as useful as the harper archers. And I think my group ended up dealing with most of the enemies. Then we went through to the tower with the bottom of the netherbrain stem and started to make our way up, dodging nautoloid blasts, as I tried to have her knock over a stature to climb up I discovered that karlach's str had been tanked to 14 by becoming a minflayer very inconvenient for a BARBARIAN. Thankfully I had a cloud giant elixir but since we were turnbase another character left a smokepowder barel next to it and we blasted it down. Astarian was very chatty this whole sequence - yelled out for us to just push through to the brain rather than dealing with these enemies - so Karlach who had a speed potion continues up to a room with more stem, this teleported the rest of us up to her, now that was convenient. Mirai summoned an air mymidon as the previous air elemental had gone down and then she and wyll chugged a couple of those 2 round naps for a long rest potions and we began to climb the brain Now the first time round the fight atop the brain got pretty messy, as karlach didn't make it through the portal until after the nautoloid arrived, but then when I'd finally got most of the party through - I made the mistake of having Astarian shoot a blackpowder arrow, the resulting explosion flung karlach off the platform since she's the illithid necesary to finally stoppped the thing I didn't know if I'd just bugged up my ending, so I just decided to reload, but my last save was at the beginning of the fight... So the second time karlach made it to the brain and then the portal tout suite by having her chug another speed potion and carefully avoid oppurtunity attacks from things that could grapple or stun her, everyone raced to the portal (as per astarian's exclaimations) but wyll summoned Dame Aylin (aka the one reinforcement who can't dye) to help the zombies, dryad, wood woad, and air myrmidon keep the emporer, his dragon and the miniosns busy before going through himself. Things were fairly simple after that. The sequence of the brain falling out of the sky and baldur's gate rallying was great. Left it up to Lae'zel whether she wanted to go with orpheus or not, of course she did - on the whole I really enojoyed lae'zel's character arc. Poor Astarian had to flee the sunrise. And Mirai supported Gale in his quest to revenge on and unseat mythal. Next sequence is waking up in bed with Wyll, he's so very poetic, and being invited to storm the hells to kill mizora. Of course Mirai accepts, killing outsiders is one of her favourite things. Didn't realise we'd be leaving IMMEDIATELY until the 6 months later party when it turned out no one had seen me since not thrilled with the idea that she just left without like - checking that astarian wasn't ash and making sure no one was going to try and kill karlach. But it sounds like they were both avoiding me anyways. Astarian seems to have finally reached a good place in his life, I was worried when Karlach's "voice" sounded a bit reserved but she seems to be doing okay - I still have misgivings though. Gale has apparently NOT killed or unseated Mystra and instead become god of ambition - Boo! sais Mirai the god hating dragonborn, Boo to that! (though I personally am unsurprised) His tressym isn't happy either. Apparently Halsin has adopted a huge bunch of children and settled down to rebuild Reithwin/moonrise, it seems to suit him . I never did find out what the hell was Boo's deal! The Post credit sequence further makes me certain that Withers must be Jergal himself, i though he might just be a priest there of before - but who else would talk shit like that? Pics: On the whole I'm quite happy with my experiance (though i'm given to understand that finishing so late has gotten me a bigger and better ending then finishing earlier would have) and I'm looking forward to seeing alternate outcomes with other characters! Really enjoyable game.

Of course they're getting greedy now and want another success. Good luck finding somebody like Larian. Don't care about a BG game made by somebody else personally.

Made some more progress yesterday with Moonrise & the Shadowfell... ... but I also made the same mistake as I did in the first PT, which required a little backtracking. What happened? I went to the Shadowfell first before clearing Moonrise Tower of enemies, and... yeah. Well, at least that segment is short. So I wound up loading an earlier save and started clearing out the Tower, top-to-bottom. Easy enough. I KO'd Roah and left Araj Oblodra alone. I didn't recall seeing Araj in Act 3, so I must have killed her in my first run. And I'd almost forgot about this doggo... With that taken care of, now I could go back to the Shadowfell. Then it was back to Moonrise again to deal with Ketheric. This time I decided to leave Jaheira to guard the tower instead of taking her with us. Also swapped out Astarion for Wyll, but kept Minthara & Shadowheart. You can see how seriously bipolar Ketheric is veering from dialogue responses to cutscene. And this would be the last fight of the night. The Illithid Colony is up next, and it looks like I even managed to avoid the "Enemy of Justice" bug this time around.

clearing out the Tower, top-to-bottom. Moonrise is an excellent place to indulge in major barrelmancy. You can just wander around talking to them all and dropping a present next to them. Then one firearrow/firebolt to turn the whole place into an inferno whilst you laugh maniacally. Maybe that last bit is just me?

I didn't recall seeing Araj in Act 3, so I must have killed her in my first run. ---- With that taken care of, now I could go back to the Shadowfell. I wonder what the tipping point is for Shadowheart (or if there is one). I left her alone to make her own decisions and she chose to release Aylin.
I get that our actions have been (mostly) good aligned ones, but would she have chosen differently if we had say... burned down the grove? Could also be that you didn't give her your blood? Or managed to not pass her flaming hot home? As for Shadowheart Think it's purely based on approval if you let her decide for herself, since she spared her even if I'd killed my way through the grove and generally did Evil McEvil things but we were almost max approval since I let her cut herself. Then she shanked her on a good run which she had spent most of the time in camp minding the cooking pot. Don't know what the tipping point is exactly though. If you've got lower approval but still enough that she spares her, asking her not to will make her kill her just to spite you. And I think if you're a Selunite Cleric and pick your [Class] option she will also skewer her just to spite you. So spite could be another tipping point.

Finally got through the Arcane Tower in the Underdark, recruited the owlbear cub (I wanted to slap Shadowheart for scaring the poor thing...twice), and I summoned that little imp Shovel (or Fork or Basket).
Christ this game needs a strategy guidebook! Don't get me wrong YouTube is great but there are times when I don't want to stop playing my game and so searching through YouTube and trying to find the most current video on it. Maybe once Larian gets through patching and updating it maybe someone will do one, but I highly doubt it since those days are pretty much over, and IMO gaming is worse because of it.

Didn't have a lot of time, but I managed to get through some of the Illithid Colony last night. Almost immediately I ran across this little guy. I'm guessing this was added sometime after my first PT through the area? I know fans were asking to have "Us" as a familiar/pet, and... lo and behold. Ah yes, I remember the brain device from last time, and I can see it's just a bugged now as it was during launch. I did manage to get all the brains to work (though I forgot to bring the ones from the Nautiloid!), but... I'm surprised this is still an issue. Solved the Christmas Lights puzzle and more loot for the pile. Then it was off to rescue the Pod People. The last time I was here I had the "Enemy of Justice" bug, which... complicated things with the FF guards. And finally... rescue Her Ungratefulness.

Got to the safe house in Wyrm's Crossing and noticed that Corin still has permanent Detect Thoughts. I started this run a long time ago, so maybe it's something that's been patched out but he still has the effect since he got it before the patch. What the hell, I'll take it. Very stupid resolution: I think I miscalculated with an Ice Knife and hit Geraldus when dropping the last doppelganger. Combat ended, journals updated, and then the narrator pipes up with " you wanted a fight, and now you've got one," as Geraldus went hostile.
I figured playing it out was just going to blow up Jaheira's plot, so I reloaded.

I'd stay away from video. It's very inefficient, not least because it's so hard to get to the proper place in a vid even if it has exactly what you need someplace. There aren't any great walkthroughs out there that I'm aware of, though. GameRant's is particularly egregious since the index is full of massive spoilers, although this won't matter too much on a later run. IGN's is poorly organized. And so forth. I've had my best results with dropping a highly specific question into Google and seeing what Reddit threads come up.

Had some time yesterday to wrap up the Ketheric storyline. Yeah, the Ketheric/Myrkul fight is certainly one of the most visually impressive of the game , but was a little disappointed there was no banter between Ketheric & Minthara. And with that... Netherstone #1. I wish it did have some other use than a paperweight though. Then - back to Moonrise and... Dame Aylin promptly shows us the door. Minthara was being especially Minthara today... Played a little with Alfira and received the Improved Bardic Inspiration ability! And it's... completely worthless as there's nothing to use it on now.

Act 2... Done!Got in a couple of long rests before leaving Moonrise to make sure I didn't miss any dialogue. Where Shadowheart managed to find a jug of bleach out here, I'll never know, but... here we are. Raphael also paid a visit, wrapping up the Astarion deal. Then it was time to hit the road, albeit with a brief detour to the Astral Prism. Afterward, we get the BG cutscene. Heh... Given how absolutely bonkers Orin is, you have to wonder how the three of them ever managed get as far as they did with their little scheme. So now I've accomplished everything I wanted to in this PT, esp. the things I missed in Act 2 on my first go. With Act 3 still fresh in my mind, I'm really in no hurry to go through it again. Though I'm curious to see what the next patch will bring for the evil PTs. The Swords Bard/Paladin PC was a very fun one to play, with the Bard definitely having the best dialogue options. Not sure what direction I'd go in on another PT. Maybe something Monk-esque? But I think I'll jump into something else for a while. I'm almost afraid to look into my backlog...

Not from my run, but Mav and Snacks' YT run.
They tried something I never did during Get Past The Rubble. Apparently, when you take the aggressive option with the Herdmaster, the deep rothe go hostile to both your party and their overseers. Not sure why. They did the right thing and switched to nonlethal, but still a weird outcome.
Also, they're munching down the tadpoles right and left. Did Larian ever put out any stats on how many players just went with that?

Well, that was annoying: Trying to break both Karlach and Florrick out of Wyrm's Rock without killing anybody. (Blown dialogue check.) Making Florrick invisible works. But apparently, making Karlach invisible doesn't?
So invisibility working for Florrick was special scripting?

How does Karlach end up in Wyrm's Rock? If you don't rein her in before meeting Gortash in the throne room she goes to jail for bad behaviour. Don't remember if you can back her up and go on a full on attack or if it's just mandatory jail time. As for invisibility not working I have no idea but headcanon that they felt the heat of her engine and figured what was up.

You can try to fight it out at the coronation. Never tried it, but I've heard of people winning the fight easily with extreme barrelmancy. You'd think there would be some civilian casualties, though.
Tried that breakout again, but this time with a potion instead of AT Astarion casting -- and this time it went fine. I don't know why he would have lost Concentration the earlier times. Maybe I was doing something silly and didn't realize it?

My durge has been a very naughty boy in the Shadowlands. When most NPCs that play a role in act 2 are dead, then there's not all that much to do there. I spent only about 20h there, playtime is 55h at arrival in Baldur's Gate. Btw, SH romance worked out, got the date before leaving act 1, so that all worked out. Very spoilery for the creche and all of act 2, so... Before going to the shadowlands, my impulsive durge tried to kill the guardian. Because he is NOT that smart and his urge is strong. So he didn't think that through, trying to kill the person assumed to be keeping him from turning into a mindflayer, but here we are... Naturally he told Laezel that she should absolutely try to smooth things over with Vlaakith! This is a GREAT idea after everything that transpired there, lol. He does like messing with people but he's not a planner, he's chaotic evil. So his choices are not always in his best interest either. Did I mention before that he also killed Voss? Yeah... Laezel loved it though, so it's fiiiine. So the party finally arrived in the Shadowlands. Raszkirr couldn't help himself and sent the goblin to his doom: Kar'niss escorted them safely to Moonrise. Killed the harpers on the way. At Moonrise he met Minthara again. I debated for a long time what to do with her. He was NOT happy about how emotional she got after sex and so she became boring to him. Would have been in character to have her erased, he couldn't care less about her at this point. She disappointed him. But of course I wanted the Minthara content this time around. So he saved her hoping she'll either be a murder buddy and an asset or toy with her vulnarability, same as with SH. I made the goblins stab themselves as punishment. I somehow missed the drow woman who wants Astarion's blood. Kinda annoyed I forgot about this and then it was too late. My durge would absolutely have made Astarion do it. So anyway, all is well again with the guardian, no hard feelings. Her outfit is abosluetly gorgeous btw. And I LOVE the voice actress. Male actor is great too. But I like her even more. Also for a gith she's quite pretty. The butler showed up and asked my boy to kill Isobel and he's like "Sure thing!" I didn't go to Last Light Inn though and instead did everything else on the map. Ran into He Who Was and of course chose punishment, so his brethren stabbed himself and then had to be killed. (Dude's super hot though, right? I wish one of the drow presets was that hot...) Had a chat with Raphael, agreed to kill the orthon. Got my party ready with a ton of undead in tow: Met Balthazar, took the bell to summon his minion and left. Made my way through the gauntlet, then realized I should probably go to Last Light before completing it. So back up I went, found Isobel: Killed her but couldn't kill Marcus though, he just took her and flew off. Annoying. The butler was pleased in any case and gifted my boy his slayer form: Don't have a screenshot of it but you know what that looks like probably. Party was NOT happy about it. In fact, killing everyone at the inn was somehow over the top. Not killing all the innocent tieflings and CHILDREN at the grove, nah, that was fine! But killing armed harpers was shocking, OK then. I understand that this was a poor choice when they were supposed to gather allies to kill Katheric and my murder hobo decided, nah. I want to have fun instead. But still. You guys have weird morals! So then back to the gauntlet: Bathazar shows up and wants to take the Nightsong. My durge and the rest of the party are annoyed: I wouldn't have minded giving her to him to see what happens but then SH leaves. And anyway I really wanted her to kill the Nightsong. Does she always choose not to if you let her decide? I was a little disappointed about that. I had hoped my boy had corrupted her enough that she wouldn't need convincing. So I reloaded. At least telling her to do it doesn't require a speech check. Good enough. Beautiful shot of her going evil: After that was done it was time to attack Moonrise. Man, that long drawn out assault was buggy AF. At some point combat split into two different groups. Astarion was by himself with 2 remaining enemies while the other attack group couldn't move at all, only use action points. Super annoying but I managed to merge them back together by moving Astarion back to the rest of the party. This never happened anywhere on my first playhtrough but has happened several times on my second PT now. I'm not impressed with the slayer form btw. Damage is mediocre. Oh well. So then we faced Ketheric. That fight was a bit more tricky this time without the aid of the Nightsong and with Isobel as an enemy but I manged OK. So then into the mindflayer lair we went: The three stooges showed up, nice shot: Killed Ketheric for good, the army is marching on Baldur's Gate: And the Shadowlands stay corrupted... Arrived at Baldur's Gate, yay! My party of awful people, but we're pretty at least! Well, actually, scratch that. My durge has successfully convinced Laezel and his girlfriend to become ilithid abominations, everyone really. Aside from Minthara they were all unwilling at first, so my boy got a rise out of convincing them to do it anyway. Disfiguring Astarion's beautiful face really hurt, bye-bye eye candy. Gotta stay in character though, no exceptions! But shit, SH looks ROUGH now! My boy himself finally looks like a menace. It suits him, but wow, seeing those two kiss now is like a horror movie scene, lol: Especially this shot, creepy undead woman in the background, hahaha. Btw, I read that dark SH is not a full romance? She did say that Shar forbids her to love anyone else and, well, be happy. Lovely religion! But she also said she'll try to make it work, so I'm sticking to it. I guess if nothing comes of it I can still backstab her later... My durge could have gone either way, dumped her right there or stuck with her. I roleplay that he kinda fell in love with her for real when she killed the Nightsong, kindred spirits after all. My party is a real manace now, I LOVE it. I love how you can finally see it! Side note, my boy has been collecting body parts, it's his treasure chest! Oh and thanks to my friend's guidance I was able to create an alchemy hireling for double potion crafting I didn't know about because I'm dumb. I made him look appropriately creepy.

(Dude's super hot though, right? I wish one of the drow presets was that hot...) ---- Met Balthazar, took the bell to summon his minion and left. Made my way through the gauntlet, then realized I should probably go to Last Light before completing it. So back up I went, found Isobel: The butler was pleased in any case and gifted my boy his slayer form: ---- I wouldn't have minded giving her to him to see what happens but then SH leaves. --- My party is a real manace now, I LOVE it. I love how you can finally see it! Side note, my boy has been collecting body parts, it's his treasure chest! Agreed and my favourite resolution to this quest ---- If you wait after dealing with the Nightsong the butler will pop up to remind you and there will be way less people to kill so, yes good move going early. Also when he transformed back, was he dressed? Since when one iteration of Alice did it she ended up naked and in a different body and was wondering if it was just a her thing or a common glitch. --- Her deciding to spare the Nightsong is I think approval based, so high approval she auto spares her, low approval she doesn't. Psychevore romanced her as a Dark Justicar and seemed happy about it if I remember correctly. So I don't think she dumps you in that path, unless you make her pick between you and Shar or something. --- And I like his chest. The treasures we collect on the way.
