Baldur's Gate III - Spoiler Edition (please read updated OP)

Well dang,i already made a thread here but then deleted it because i wasn't sure if this was the right place.

I have also read here www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-06-05-its-true-divinity-studio-larian-is-making-baldurs-gate-3#comments that they have apparently spoken to people involved in the original games,so that's great i can tell they really care about this i couldn't think of a better studio to make this game.

I know it's practically heresy to admit, but it's been so long since I've played the BG series, I only vaguely remember it.

That said... the trailer definitely has me intrigued.

I just noticed they also have a thread in the BioWare forum, but given it's not a BW game anymore I didn't even think to check until now. I'm sure SofaJockey will sort it out...

I hate tentacles.

I'm sure there may be investigations for Old Republic/Jade Empire, but there's first the process of DA, Anthem service, maybe ME to go through, and whatever they want to do with SWTOR (at least an expansion this year, but maybe further years before finally fully winding down).

In any case, stuff would be next-gen 2020s.

Looks like the rules are going to be 5e, but Sven said that if something turns out not fun, they will adapt it (it already appear that chance-to-miss are going to be fiddled with).

Baldur's Gate is the Mos Eisley of Faerun, no need to add Mind Flayers to find corruptions there.

Going by the various bits and pieces I read, I suspect an Illithid invasion of the primary plane from the astral plane with the party members being among the few who can resist the whole thing (yes, all party members, Sven said they were all heroes and GOG description says "alone you resist, but together you overcome").

Now the question is why you can resist. My guess: new Bhaalspawns (or something close to it). Bhaal is back, he can make new ones now that all the old ones died to bring him back.

As far as this goes I am going to need to know more for I had a lot of bugs and issues with the first Original Sin game that caused me to dread playing the game and I stopped playing after a couple of hours and never went back feeling I wasted my money. The other concern is how stringent they are going to be to the D20 ruleset, if they are going to try to be as close as the original Baldur's Gate games I am not sure again if the game will be for me.

I recently bought the first Baldur's Gate. Maybe this is the right time to finally get into this series.

I love BG, but honestly, who cares about awards? Gamers seem to be the only kind of fans who take them seriously.

They tend to impact sales (and thus have consequences from more or less sales than expected or desired) more often that not, in all industries. Depends on the awards though.

And on individual level, yes you're usually more prolific if you win awards.

My personal care about them caps at like a 1-2/5 level though. I watch the award shows for trailers, etc.
