Does anyone (left) know if they ever fixed the Strike Team Equipment bug? I'm referring to the expensive MF gear to boost mission effectiveness. Word has it that the doubled effectiveness was bugged, ex: "Exceptional Human Intelligence" was boosted to +20, but instead only gave the old +10. Yes, I know they are bad deals. Just re-roll at team instead. But I just leveled a team to 20, and was lucky enough to get FOUR general +5 traits. Don't want it start accruing negative traits. So I'm thinking about biting the bullet and spending 250 MF for the above equipment.
[Edit: answered my own question. Purchased the equipment and it indeed gave the advertised general +20. Bug (if it existed) fixed]

I was going to say, I have the Exceptional HumInt on one of my teams, and it works as advertised.
But I'm actually more a fan of the +40 specialized gear these days. It can push your Gold success rates into the 80%s.

Yeah, but that will only proc 1/6 Gold missions. Basically, 1/2 cost, 2x effectiveness, 1/6 proc rate. Total: 2/3 the averaged effectiveness/MF compared to EHI.
I'm firmly convinced the cheapest way is to buy none of these, run two teams, and just re-roll one of your teams when it accrues too many negative traits such that you can't get Golds at (my personal #) >=50%. But it is a pain as it takes a high level of attention to the app (especially if you are an obsessive logger like myself).
At the other end of the spectrum, are those who prefer to run all 6 teams, 5 with the +40 specialized gear, one with the +20 general. But that takes a front end cost of 1475 MF (if I have my calcs right). Which I think you'll never get close to making back.
I always do the former, but this time, after getting too many neg traits failing 50-55% Golds, and being lucky enough to level a new team with four +5's, I just decided to do the general this one time. I'm hoping the minimum 78% success (84% when the one special trait hits), vastly minimizes negative crits.
I suspect negative crits are some fcn of both difficulty and success rate, i.e. a 5% Gold will result in much higher neg crit rates than a 50% Gold, which will be higher than a 78%. I'm hoping the 78% is near-nil to not negate my "investment".

I agree with you, and that's what I recommended in my guide. But now I'm having fun with the "5 teams with +40 gear and 1 with +20 gear". Because it is fun to see the +40 gear process (along with another +20 from a +10 trait and two +5s) and get an 88% success chance on Gold missions.
Will I ever make back the 1475 MF up-front investment? Nope. But I don't care.

Revisiting to give an update. And also speaks to this thread. [Jinxing myself here!] I've run over 200 Gold missions (all either 78% or 84%) with my EHI Delta Team and it has never gotten a negative trait. My other team exclusively does Bronze/Silver (94% / 91-93% respectively), and has also never negative crit'd. Haven't missed a single payout with just two teams, but yeah, there have been some close calls where timer was running out. Definitely something very non-linearly tying negative criting to Gold success probability. Maybe even (fingers crossed/jinx) it is disabled over a certain %?

And yep, sure enough, jinxed myself Within 2 days of that post I went on a failed 7 of 8 78% Gold attempts (plus one 66% on my second team trying to salvage a Gold before it expired). Two days in a row I didn't complete all the Golds. When previously hadn't missed one ever.
And last night got my first negative trait on a 78% Gold. So yeah, not immune

If anyone cares (and judging from response, not likely), Today: a Negative trait on a fail of AN 84% GOLD! "Outlaw Hysteria"

Since the word go, once I got a ST to lvl 20, I would always get the +40% gear that most enhanced their existing positive traits and then basically get 1 team for each of the 6 mission types covered by the +40% gear. That way, I can get basically the best possible probability of success on each Gold difficulty missions no matter what. I retire them when they have too many negative traits in the specific category that is their specialty. I play pretty casually too though, because there's too much waiting for teammates to get too emotionally involved in this game.
Edit: I am always shocked when I find that this forum is still active.
