So, there was one villain? Remember there was also Fen'Harel who is a law unto himself. With only 7 players I thought having 2 villains and Fen'Harel would leave the heroes with no chance. As it was, it was a pretty near run thing. Had Pela reciprocated the vote on Space it might have been him eliminated instead of Catilina, so no way of taking out Pela overnight. FYI: The people with guardian dragons were Adonniel; Catilina and Fylimar. Had Space chosen to shoot Fylimar instead of Pela, that would have resulted in a win for Pela. Space would have been eliminated in the dragon wrangling tie-breaker but luckily Seven/June had given him a rune of power the first night. Catilina/Mythal protected himself night one and Fylimar on night 2. On night 3 Catilina protected Pela. Space was already suspicious of Pela but luckily not enough to shoot her on night 3 or this would have been wasted. So it was very fine margins between victory and defeat really. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed that game. However, it would be interesting to know how you feel about clues now. I thought we'd experience it without any being allowed (Fylimar was pushing it a bit last round ) but it does mean that people are very much working blind. Meanwhile, over on the Citadel there are no limits on questions being asked. So how do people prefer it: No questions/clues; limited questions/clues or unlimited?

And when I protected Pela, there was no one eliminated, so: I assumed, Pela was who got the attack. I knew, that it's not sure, but a clue. This is why I asked the opinions.

The fact that the person defended themselves by turning into a halla was, I thought, a pretty big hint that Ghilan'nain had gone on the alert and defended herself. However, I can understand why Mythal might be confused as to what was going on.

I thought it was Dadi who had been attacked, not Pela. And I also thought it was Mythal's protection, not his own alert. I'm fine with the way things are in terms of clues, but I don't mind either way.
It did seem more balanced with Fen'Harel and one villain with 7 players. I was just duped in terms of looking for patterns between players where none existed.

Had Pela reciprocated the vote on Space it might have been him eliminated instead of Catilina, so no way of taking out Pela overnight. But how in the world was I suppose to have known this, when I didn't have much information about Space throughout the entire game? Hindsight is 20/20. He could have been a number of roles at that moment. Also, unless I read wrong, adonniel chose to side with the heroes, and fylimar was somehow still a hero after contacting me, so I was technically still alone in this game.
I honestly get what fylimar was saying earlier about this game being a stab in the dark sometimes. There are times where it's frustrating and this situation where I still had no clue who Space was, and it costing me entire the game, is the time where it's frustrating.
Then, just when I thought my luck turned around with Sylaise, it turns out she is somehow still a hero after she makes contact with a spy, which I'm having a difficulty understanding. I just don't get Sylaise's goal in this situation. If Sylaise's goal is to defend the spy during the day, make a spirited effort to prevent them from getting voted off, and that they cannot vote for them, why are they still considered a hero? A hero's goal is to eliminate the spies, so you see how these two goals contradict each other? I don't know. These last two games have been a bit frustrating on my end for a number of reasons. But this one was a little tough. A bit of a heart breaker since I was close to winning, and I just survived a tiebreaker that had the odds against me. But I guess I'll get over it. It makes me wonder though whether I'll continue having frustrating moments like this in these games. Whether I'll continue having these moments of great luck or satisfaction over investing a bad guy or surviving a tough tiebreaker only for that good moment to quickly be doused away moments afterwards. It isn't really a great feeling to experience, especially twice in row.

But how in the world was I suppose to have known this, when I didn't have much information about Space throughout the entire game? To be fair, he did vote for you straight off, so really people would expect you to return the favour. Fylimar had already voted for Catilina, so it would seem a bit fishy if she had instantly changed to Space. As you have admitted to me, Catilina was behaving more like Sylaise, had voted for Space after he voted for you and was defending you, so why vote for him? fylimar was somehow still a hero after contacting me, so I was technically still alone in this game. The reason I stepped in was that Fylimar was heavily hinting to vote her off. However, I was somewhat stuck in what to do about this as any penalty to Fylimar would also penalise you. It would hardly have been fair for me to automatically eliminate one of the other players, so I did the best I could with the situation. I am sorry you feel cheated of your win but you did have a fair few lucky breaks in the game, particularly when you chose to infect Adonniel when I seem to recall that initially you were thinking of someone else. As I've pointed out above, Space already had you in his sights the previous night, which is why he automatically voted for you the following day, so ultimately even if Fylimar had said nothing it was your choice of target in the voting that decided the issue.

I didn't thought, that I was considered a spy, just that I can't vote against you - and had to defend you more (for which not doing, I apologised before. I played my role wrong and was occupied with the real life things happening here at the moment with the flood and being worried for my friends and didn't really read the description, that gerva was nice enough to send me again - my friends are fine though and I will be more attentive next round, I promise). Maybe Sylaise can really join team spy, when she accidently contacted a spy? I mean, coming into the spy chat and all that jazz.
But maybe what pela said, is a bit true. Maybe there is some way between no hints or questions and as much as you like. Maybe we can be allowed one question per round? Or something like that?
AGain, I apologise, pela. I didn't want you to make feel uncomfortable, you are my favorite spy.

I’m cool with the rules either way, but maybe hints don’t have to be completely restricted. Hints are useful for players and villains, so maybe they could be powers earned during tiebreakers or randomly during narratives, or even just as Fylimar said to have one question per round. Hints in narratives help too, like you did with my role.

Originally I took out the hints and questions as it was suggested it was confusing and deterring to new players. However, it didn't have the desired effect of encouraging new participants and everyone in the last game was a veteran, so I think I will revert to my own system of allowing two questions to be asked by each player per round and one answer given. That is assuming the people still want to play.
I think the last two games have shown that it is possible to have a good game with limited numbers but maybe enthusiasm is beginning to flag and several of us seem to have things going on in real life that make it difficult to focus on the game. So perhaps we should give it a break for the rest of the summer and resume in the autumn. What do you think?

Wait, I don't want to take a break either, I'm just being a little dramatic. I just needed a little time to process that shocking ending, but now I'm fine. The last two games have been losses for me, but that's just how the game is sometimes. If anyone feels like we need a break though, I'll be fine with it but I'll miss you guys in the meantime.
Oh, and I am in favor of allowing one question or hint per round. I have come to realize that I do prefer this than no questions, even as a spy.

Maybe the break can be until August 1st instead of September? We can open sign up for the next game and mingle meanwhile. This might give a bit of time for a couple of extra folks to drift back in as well. Also we'll have the time to figure out whether we want clues and to fine-tune the rules. Unless we have driven Gerva bonkers in general and he wants us out of his hair in terms of hosting a game for a while.

Maybe the break can be until August 1st instead of September? We can open sign up for the next game and mingle meanwhile. Actually this would work for me. I wasn't getting tired of hosting the game. I just know several people have mentioned how real life is impacting on their ability to focus on the game, which I totally understand as it has been the same for me too. I am in the process of selling up, leaving the island and moving to Wales, which is why I originally suggested September as I hope to be settled by then. However, I can equally do with something to take my mind off it and keep me from getting stressed out. So let's take a week off and then resume on 1st August. Back to the old rules of asking questions and giving hints. In the interim, please let me know if you don't want to be part of the game then. I'll assume you would like to play unless you do. Also encourage others to come back. Players from 1st August: Fylimar Space Adonniel Pelassarias Catilina Seven Dadithinkimgay

Gerva: if it is more convenient for you to start later, I would be ok with that. Moving is hard work and you have your animals too. At the moment the matter is in the hands of the solicitors and they are doing all the routine enquiries they are expected to do, plus any others that I can think of. I don't know about other countries but here they do things called Searches where they find out about past history of the property and the neighbourhood it is in. At the moment those have only just been applied for and some could take up to 4 weeks to come back, so at present it is just a matter of making a start on the packing. Don't worry, I'll let people know when things start livening up, at which point I may take a few days off. Also, if past experience is anything to go by BT aren't great at continuity in the telephone/internet connection, even when you have told them well in advance when and where you are moving, so I may end up without one for anything up to a week. That'll be fun. (sarcasm). Anyway, don't worry, at present I'm happy to resume on 1st August.

Oh wow! What prompted your move? You seemed well settled in your current area. Moving is quite stressful (says the person who moved 11 times in their life). Are you taking your horses with you? I want to be nearer to my daughter. Originally she and her husband were not far from me on the mainland but he is Welsh and property is much cheaper there, plus all his relatives, so they decided to relocate. I had already been trying to sell up before Covid hit but that really only reinforced how far away they now are, particularly as Wales restrictions are set by the Welsh Assembly whilst I am governed by those in England. They did drop everything and respond to my emergency but it is still a 3-4 hour journey, including the ferry, so normally a planned extended visit rather than simply dropping in or meeting up for a few hours on a regular basis. I'm beginning to feel my age, find long car journeys very tiring and cannot leave the horses for long. Moving closer made sense, particularly as I could afford a suitable property in Wales. So the four horses, one cat and I will hopefully soon be heading that way.
