DAI was my first DA and I was still very new to gaming. That Journey to Skyhold sequence hit me HARD the first time. I wasn't expecting where the game took me, and when that happened it opened up the whole world to something bigger and better (both in game and irl). That SCORE 😍

Took me over three years to get an opportunity to play it myself, I followed all the news before it came out and during the launch and watched a bunch of 60+ hour playthroughs because of it, and finally, it took 130 hours to finish it, I love this game and my Inquisitor a lot 💚

had to make a thread summarising why it's stayed with me so long!

Dragon Age Inquisition came out five years ago today.
I honestly don't have words for how much it means to me? I'd played and loved Origins and Two over and over when it was released. I didn't have a next gen console so I got it on PS3 and immediately played it twice in a row.

When they released the first DLC, I got a PS4 *just* so I could play it (tho ofc I've played lots of others since then 😂), and it's still the game on there I have the most hours in

I do think it lost a lot of...hm, story momentum? in trying the open world ish format. but, it still has the hardest choice I've ever made in a dragon age game - plenty of choices in the others have massive consequences either way, but I was always happy to pay them

but with Here Lies The Abyss, my 'main' worldstate (I have one for each Inquisition romance 😊) had a romanced Alistair as the Warden contact, and a VERY happily Fenris-romanced Hawke

when I first hit the end of that quest....I think I put my controller down and walked away and just sat and thought for ten minutes, made my choice....then deleted it all and rebuilt the world so I wouldn't have to choose between them again

It's been FIVE YEARS and I'm still not happy with it, I STILL go back and forth between them, I still swither between making Alistair King and keeping him a Warden, I have no idea what the right choice is and I'm not sure I ever will

I don't think there's any other game that's had that effect on me?? there are loads of choices that have made me feel sick or broken my heart, choices that have made me angry, made me cry, made me think.

but in the end with all of them I've been at peace with what I've done. I'm still not there with this one

it's one small part of the overall game and I have no idea what, if any, ramifications it'll have in the next game. it's probably not going to be as important as choosing the ruler of Orlais or Ferelden

but it is to me

and that's just one thing! I haven't even started on Dorian or Bull or Cullen or Sera or Cassandra or Vivienne or COLE or how angry and sad Blackwall makes me, or Flemeth and Solas and Morrigan and the Well and and and

it's not perfect, no game is perfect, but I really can't put into words how much it means to me, and how excited I am to see where the story goes next

5 years on, I've just made the journey to Skyhold again. Every time the Herald sees it for the first time, it's beautiful and full of hope. They made me Inquisitor again, and I still feel the weight of it as much as I did on the first playthrough.

Just started a new game yesterday...I made a male Trevelyn..as I wanna romance Dorian and for the first time playing DA:I my inquis is going to be an Ahole....so not me....I cringe but want to see how the game changes with an evil inquis.

No lie, #Adoribull is what got me into #DragonAgeInquisition and I have no regrets. And isn't it wonderful, that I got to enjoy my first foray into RPG with such an expansive, beautiful, welcoming game? Happy 5th, #DAI!

DAI was the first Dragon Age game I played and it got me hooked on the rest of the franchise. The combination of open world play, high detail, combat mechanics, and the compelling narrative remain among the best I've ever witnessed

The sequence starting with the attack on Haven through the journey to Skyhold is such a powerful part of the story. It gets me every time.
And while there are beautiful landscapes all over the map, The Hissing Wastes took my breath away.

#DragonAgeInquisition Favorites? The infamous game of Wicked Grace, romancing Cullen because the guy needed something good to happen to him after the other 2 games. But absolute favorite would be Cassandra reading from Varric's book during the end credits. It still cracks me up.

We worked so hard to save the world as wardens in DAO. To go from that to having to fight them in DAI was just poignant to me on another level. It was like having to fight family almost. And then there was just the chaos of the whole thing. I love the chaos!!!
