Mass Effect Trilogy, Mass Effect Andromeda

First off, I will no longer be playing Mass Effect on PC anymore. Due to technical issues, which led to me decide to play it safe & use my PC for only art ( my art), music, video, & internet purposes (without trying to spend hundreds to repair or replace), I have decided to return to the Trilogy on Xbox One ( the coincidence being that I played Mass Effect for the first time [with Mass Effect 2] on Xbox 360 ten years ago this March).
Soon, I will buy an Xbox One X. I do not own physical copies of the games. The logical conclusion would be to buy them digitally. My question regard how I'd have to download them. People in different places have mentioned EA Access with the Trilogy. What is EA Access, and do I need it to purchase the Trilogy in the Xbox One Store? If so, why?

EA Access is a monthly subscription. Why not just buy the games outright if you plan to replay them a lot? A quick search of the XBox store shows that they are available for purchase: www.xbox.com/en-us/Search?q=mass+effect

I don' tthinkit is only if you wantt odo a lot of online stuff. As EA access is reall yfor stuff like multiplayer things like Fifa Ultimate Team and that kind of stuff.
