Ok, so after my rage-uninstall at the weekend (everything done legitimately through the options and control panel in case you're wondering) I'm now getting seriously pissed off. Firstly, Origin...  Betweeen not downloading stuff, telling me there's downloads going on that aren't, I'm really insulting the pile of poop. Also this  What's with the prices?? Anyway, I can now play SP, but MP just isn't playing ball. Starts to load, but before it gets to the character selection screen it freezes. Have to bring up the task manager and kill it from there. Anyone any ideas? |

Try uninstalling Retaliation, starting the game and installing Retaliation while being on the startup screen. P.S. Also I think mgamerz has got a mod for that but I'm not sure...

I'll try it mate, but I'm not really sure that's the problem. I've had that a few times and I'm reasonably (though not %100 ) sure that it caused a crash to desktop but didn't freeze the PC? I may just bite the bullet and do a windows reinstall this weekend.

So after 2 complete Windows reinstalls (for reasons) and about 7 game reinstalls (for more reasons) after downloading all extra content (except Retaliation) I can now get to the MP character select screen.
Yay.
Only one more thing left to do(wnload)

Aand..Retaliation fucks everything up.  Starting offline then going online, and mgamerz RetaliationBugfix haven't worked, so it's either back to SP or hobbled MP (until it hopefully decides to fix itself again). Sigh. |

suggestion - clone the SSD (with Windows and everything except Retaliation) to a spare and use that to install Retaliation. That way, you do not need to reinstall everything again if it did not work. If it worked, clone back to original SSD.

Sigh you, Andy! Why did you do it to yourself? Reinstalling windows? Reinstalling the game a couple of times? Mate, that's a lot of time wasted. Those won't help you if you have retaliation glitch. Going offline and starting the game works, but it's a pita. Use Mod Manager and Retaliation glitch fix ASI mod.  Just be sure to download MANUALLY THE LATEST Mod Manager. The old version had ssl issues which didn't allow to update mods nor the whole MM itself. I still can't believe you were willing to reinstall your OS 2 times. Daeemmn. You'd be better off without it, enjoying your sweet #retirement

As for the OS reinstalls, it was probably due, and the second was probably unnecessary. But I have nothing better to do

Ok, so this is just bizarre. Tried to play MP (after yet another game reinstall) on my main account. That's a big fat nope. Thought to myself... wait a minute, what if I try my alt account. Bingo! Now, what the actual fuck is going on? They're both using the same damn files on my PC   |

^^^ Or maybe not. I was able to get to the character selection screen. I was able to assign points to a new character. I was able to spend points in the store. I was not able to modify weapons. Game froze. Possibly something to do with the DLC's from my main account that it can't authorize? Anyway, no matter as my alt account can no longer get to the MP character select screen as it's now freezing the same way my main account freezes.  |

Thanks for this. I was not sure if the issue was Origin or what It seems to have fixed it for me. Why it was still giving me trouble after 2 OS reinstalls is because my Documents folder is on a seperate drive I tried this when I got home, and it worked like a champ. All I had to do after that was fix my screen resolution.

It seems to have fixed it for me. All I had to do after that was fix my screen resolution. And key bindings. First game I tried nothing was working as I was expecting |
