Please share you confinment rules as they are fun in france! Here it s a bit like "dont go out except if u need to go out" "In that case write/print yourself a paper with your excuse and the timestamp" It looks like it works from my village though 135 euros fine if controlled without thastupid paper . I put the link to the English one though, as it's more accessible to people here.  To MPApr2012 , sorry that you feel I've derailed the thread.  At the same time, I don't know about the old BSN, but in this new one I made a point of honor to laugh at what I feel is stupid (though it hurts sometimes)  . And the fact that, when the probability of quarantine for a respiratory disease became apparent, here in "La Belle Province", the first thing to disappear from the supermarket shelves was the toilet paper  was a shock for me. An even greater shock came when I learned that the situation was not singular and that in several places throughout the world the same thing happened again and again.  The hand sanitizers were only the second! Ultimately, "we will fight, we will sacrifice and we will find a way, because that's what humans do..." So stay safe 'yall! Here it was toilet paper, clorox wipes/other cleaners, and meat that were gone within hours. Which was/is crazy considering there was never any true quarantine with strict police/military enforcement (that's what I picture as a true quarantine) that would keep people in their homes for an extended period of time. The food stores/life sustaining businesses never closed and it's still even hard to find toilet paper and cleaners as of this past Friday.

Life is pretty normal in Singapore. Unless you are under a quarantine or stay home notice, you are free to wander around. Entertainment places are closed but most shops and supermarkets remain open.
Breach of a quarantine or SHN will have consequences
a former friend/colleague of mine in singapore was on LOA, i guess it s SHN, and university was close for quite a long time (he works there). He just got out yesterday. Not sure university has reopenned. No general confinement at any points ? Well SE asia countries know how to handle a mask, and more importantly, have maskes

Here it s a bit like "dont go out except if u need to go out" "In that case write/print yourself a paper with your excuse and the timestamp" It looks like it works from my village though 135 euros fine if controlled without thastupid paper exactement the funnier is that they don't even seek an valid proff of what's written on the paper, so, even when people get outside and do some verious and random stuff, they just write it's for "achats de première nécéssité" (= "first utility buying" aka stuff like food) and they are fine... and yes, about toilet paper.... it seems something went wrong in our evolution...i mean, the object you need the most to stay alive and that everyone try to have in a crysis: -prehistory: an wooden club -antiquity: an bronze sword -middle age and renaissance: an tempered steel sword -industrial era: an steel-manganese alloy machete -21 century: one roll of toilet paper btw in term of food, things are funny too: people where rushing and panic buying pastas and rice like crazy but they did not touched conserves box, fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, meat, etc.... it doesn't even make sense (i mean, if you really believe in the doomsday kind of stuff, the food you want are conserve boxes: since they are already comestible without further process, as opposed to pastas and riche who need water + heat to be cooked)

To MPApr2012 , sorry that you feel I've derailed the thread.  ...the hell, Doc?? there's no need for that. tell me you didn't take my rambling seriously there. derail away, anytime. my pleasure. threads are like conversations, when there's no rules they are welcome to go the way they go and turn the way they turn. like i said if anything i regret not picking up on yourses and DF's quips but it's just when i logged Andy's setup was simply irresistible. and then Arktinen's comeback was even betterer. and after that it felt the moment was lost and all. So, all good Doc oh i hear ya. and wholeheartedly agree on the absurdity of it all. we here got lucky, being a bit remote and rural we haven't had much of a TP problem (or panic buying) until literally last few days before the lockdown whereas the larger cities caught up on that trend right on. But. To play the devil's advocate (with some perverse logic, or the absence of it, i admit) for a second, one doesn't stop shitting when one gets a cough. in fact the symptopms may lead to some increase in the frequency even. depending on how bad the coughing gets. plus you don't have to go out while one's unwell to get more TP with an increased risk of the above happening outside in public................ Yea i know it's quite a stretch, but let's also admire that out off all the things that do matter most to our civilisation the top is keeping our asses clean apparently. damnit, if SalMasRac still visited here we'd have the "hold the line" thrown in by now as well i thought about editing the original first but

Yeah, we have masks. I have some N95s bought during SARs days (more than ten years ago  ) and some surgical masks from a while back. Half the people I saw outside were wearing masks so I guess they are still available for sale. WHO and government advisories are that masks are not necessary unless you have symptoms so I don't use them. Besides, better to leave the stocks for medical professionals on the front-line.
