Anyone have the definite, authoritative guide for how to get the Blackwall-Josephine courtship (not romance) going?
So far, I've got that it can only trigger if Inq is hard-locked into a romance with anyone but BW and Josephine and that it starts from banter between either BW and Cole or BW and Varric (or Sera). I'm hardlocked in a Cass romance.I also made sure to never flirt with Josie. And yet all the Cole-BW banter seems to have run dry now.
I did Adamant. Can it still trigger after BW's "big reveal" that you get after the Winter Palace mess? Does it rely on certain Keep conditions?
It's three years since this courtship occurred in a playthrough. Really want it for this playthrough, but I can't figure out what triggered it then.

I believe BW and Sera are the ones who get it going. Take just those two out, and get them talking! Done that for some time after reading your suggestion now. Looks like I've exhausted Sera and BW banter so far, because I'm in Hissing Wastes just standing in one of the ruins and it's been quiet for over half an hour between the two..  Is there something I haven't mentioned that could prevent the Josie-BW banter from starting, you think? Who did you romance in the playthrough where the Josie-BW occurred? And when did it trigger in relation to main quest progression? |

If BW and Sera have stopped talking, you may just need to progress the story a bit further. I'm not sure at what point in the story it happens, unfortunately. I've never really focused on that relationship specifically.
I usually romance Solas, so it should work for that.

The banter can trigger any time. It was Really weird to listen to it trigger after the defeat of Coryphaeus, all in quick succession, in a Cole sera Blackwall group

It happened! Happened during Sera and Blackwall banter in the Hissing Wastes (also had Varric in group). After having done both Adamant and later Winter Palace, and after BW's personal quest... it finally happened and Blackwall's now twice as tragic as he'd be just by being an ex-soldier with a story of murder, betrayal and deception. Thank you, both of you. |

On the topic of IB/Dorian, something I noticed some time after the Josie-BW banter finally triggered, was that I was off-line. I've seen comments on google suggesting that improves the "banter rate", not sure if it's true. Try having only Dorian and IB in party. Is your PC in a romance with another character? I think the inter-companion romances doesn't start if the PC is romancable by either of the companions AND the PC has yet to romance another character. Logic probably being that they shouldn't hook up with each other, because the PC might be available..
