I've finished the game nearly 100%. A few minor world events are bugged, so I won't get the Completionist trophy, but I've finished the game essentially 100%.
There are things I'd change, and that I hope they change. There are quality of life improvements to be made, and the game still isn't as stable as it should be.
All that said, I enjoyed it. Magnus Bruun was excellent as the protagonist. Never once did a single line feel off in its delivery. He nailed every scene. It is very impressive in such a huge game.
The modern day stuff was improved dramatically by ditching Layla's rotating cast of poorly acted, junior high crew. Sean and Rebecca should've returned ages ago. I know there was likely some modern day dialogue I missed, since I never get out of the animus unless the story dictates it. I can live with that.
It was really long, and I'm tired. I will play it again, though; and likely sooner than is healthy. I want to see what changes with the female lead. There are clues throughout that she is the intended protagonist. I look forward to hearing her VO work. I'm also curious to see if her mo-cap differs from Magnus' as much as the performances of Alexios & Kassandra differed.

That's the hair and tattoo combo I imagined using for Eivor whenever I replay as the female lead. That armor looks good, too. That's the mid-tier Brigandine, no? If we get transmogrification in the game, I'll probably use this as one of my preferred looks. Many of the armors just look too over the top once fully upgraded. I really like the Carolingian Set, as it looks pretty accurate to the period and is functional.

Can anyone tell me how/where you get the Fire on Crit Rune? Can't remember where I got mine, but chances are it was a random vendor item. Yeah my brother in-law got it in Jorvik so I went there and of course it wasn't there.!!!!! Thinking of resetting my whole skill tree have you ever done it? Obsidian Gryphon what is "Flash of Life" ability and where in the tree I don't recognise the name is it the one where if you die you insta heal or something like that as I have one like that. God the skill system is a mess. And the harpoon ability is my go to.

Can anyone tell me how/where you get the Fire on Crit Rune? I got one from a Zealot...and two others I'm not quite sure, random loot or something. Once you hit over 300 power level, that level of runes start to show up on merchant too. Thanks I have been taking out zealots whenever i come across them but haven't received it yet and imake it a point of going to every mechant wherever I am, may need to do some speed shopping.

I've finished the game. I have only to turn in the goods to Hytham and go claim Mjolnir. There remains one hurdle. I seemingly failed to pick up the Hidden Ones Codex in one of the early bureaus. I thought I noticed a discrepancy in the tally ages ago. It turns out I only have 5 of 6, despite having visited every bureau. I know it was one of the first four and that it wasn't Londinium. That narrows it to half or fewer that I have to revisit. 🙄 All of my predictions ended up just so. That doesn't make me like the story any less. At least it was well done. Many of those predictions came from early bread crumbs in Valhalla and from Darby's previous games. If anything, it just shows his skill as a storyteller. I have a few gripes as with any game, but I really enjoyed this. I'll soon replay it with Varinsdottir. There were clues throughout the game that she was definitely the intended protagonist. I'm glad I played the male character, though. Magnus was exceptional; and I really enjoyed the look I gave the character and the personality Magnus and the animators gave him. I hope I enjoy the woman protagonist as much as this one. I'm sure I'll enjoy the gameplay more. I won't spend the first 20 hours hating the controller layout. I heard they changed the skill tree, that we can now see the primary skill in each cluster. That's good. It will no doubt play into some of my progression choices. I'm bummed that I didn't get to fight major encounters with Mjolnir; but there remain Ireland and France. They'll get hammered when the time comes. Edit: I almost forgot to mention that I had Eivor get together with Randvi at the end. He had friend-zoned her earlier, so I wasn't sure if it would be an option. I'm glad they got to (maybe) be happy without betraying Sigurd. I discovered yesterday I must have missed one in Jorvik, the icon has not got an x through it but I went over that place so thoroughly so maybe it's Jorvik you are missing.

That list is ridiculous, after all the crashes I have had I have sent a crash report where it was an option so very surprised there are no issues related to those incidences. I also cannot believe I am the only one playing the game that is getting the problem of hitting "E" on a Synchronization Point or to complete an anomaly and having the game crash. Guess I am going to have to log them. So, are most of these pc issues? I'm on ps4 pro, and I've had one crash in 70+ hrs. Yes PC issues though after having done an uninstall and reinstall I haven't had an issue.

Thinking of resetting my whole skill tree have you ever done it? I've done it at least a couple of times in the earlier going. It worked just fine. Eventually though, it just gets to the point where it's not worth the effort...

Yeah I am wavering re doing it, it was mainly that now you can see the final abilities I could choose better but I think I have now what I want anyway so might justleave it. Have you filled the whole tree yet, is that even possible?

Obsidian Gryphon what is "Flash of Life" ability and where in the tree I don't recognise the name is it the one where if you die you insta heal or something like that as I have one like that. God the skill system is a mess. And the harpoon ability is my go to. Oops, it's Brush with Death. Not flash of life. It's in the Raven skill tree. Brush with Death is dodging an attack at the right time slow time down. Combined with backstab in the early stages, it's an excellent way of dealing with tougher mobs. dazk , would you mind if I edit your opening post and put this skill tree image in there? Or you can do it yourself. It'll be useful to anyone starting the game to see the skill tree and a quick referral point.

That's the one I was thinking of, the skill tree is too big and ability wise some of them I forget I even have them or can't remember the specifics of what to do to execute them. You are more than welcome to edit my post and insert the skill tree graphic, that's a great idea. I'd do it myself but am a bit rushed for time ATM.

Ok, I set up the barracks. The first vomsviking to pop is saandrig 's. Unfortunately, friends' vomsviking recruited in the first PT do not show but your own vomsviking appear. There's the option to change appearance and gender which I did. I changed big guy (he has no beard but I noticed in some of the images posted, he seemed to have beard) into a big woman. I left the armour alone.

I still haven't found seven's Jomsviking When you initially select a Jomsviking to recruit them, all of them seem to speak with a male voice for me. Does anyone else have that issue?

dazk, it was the Jorvik codex I'd missed. The loot was on the opposite side of the room from the codex. In the poor lighting, I probably grabbed my loot, looked around quickly, and left. Who knows? There's a better than 50% chance I had my dog in my face while trying to finish that location. Anyway, that gave me what I needed to complete my final two quests. When I returned to Hytham, Eivor immediately started reporting on the Order. Maybe that's best, in order to avoid the bug about which saandrig warned us? I handed in my Order badges, and then selected the option to hand over the codices. He took them and referred me to a nearby NPC to see equally ancient texts. Maybe it was throw away dialogue, since that NPC had nothing to say on the topic. (Perhaps I should've searched the area around him?) The Codex quest cleared from my log, but the icon remained on my screen. I fast traveled to Norway to retrieve Mjolnir. When I got back, the codex quest icon was cleared from the map. Other than a few anomalies and two bugged world events, I completed the game 100%. I believe I reached PL480, so only 10 points short of the current cap. Maybe the first seasonal free content (Yule themed, from the pic) will push me to the cap or even raise the cap. Putting aside my godling Eivor, I started a new PT on Drengr (Very Hard) from the start. I played on Vikingr (Normal) until around PL90 last time, then pushed it to Drengr. Starting on Drengr resulted in several one-shot deaths early in the game. Also, enemies are meat bags who soak damage. Still, I'm already feeling the imbalance lessen at PL7. I got my free axe upgrade. Once I can don the Berserker Set, that should help, too. I saved just outside Valka's home. So far I'm enjoying Eivor's voice and face. After a moment of indecision, I switched her to dark brown hair. I hate the starting hairstyle, but can't change that until Ravensthorpe. I also don't like the starting tattoo options, so she won't have any until at least Ravensthorpe. I can't wait until I start getting some of the better skills and Abilities, but that's a long road. I didn't feel particularly well equipped for real fights until around PL90 in my first PT. My skills are better now, but boss fights seem pointless before nabbing at least a couple of Abilities and good skills.

I saw an exploit via JorRaptor that I think everyone should know about. I usually have no interest in cheese, but this one was pretty simple.
There are three beggars in a small are in Lunden. They are in the Southeast corner, just inside the SE gate. There is a shop just SW of their location.
Giving a beggar 5 silver pieces of charity nets you a Greater Rune of Fury or some such. The perk increases Attack (that's damage) after each hit for up to 10 hits.
Give one beggar his 5sp. Wait for the reward pop-up to cycle off your screen, then give the second beggar his 5sp. Repeat the process with the third.
Now, activate and deactivate Sýnnin. This rests the beggars and allows you to claim three more Greater Runes for 15sp. I quickly claimed 21 before deciding to move along with my day.
You can keep a handful of them and sell the remainder for far more than 5sp each. Ubi is all over closing loopholes, so I'm sure this will be patched soon. (One could argue that other issues are far, far more pressing for a single-player experience, but whatever...)

The bug he warned of is the last hand in. I think it's 15 medallions or fewer. Every member in the Order must be dead (not sure about zealots but I made sure anyway), the leader revealed before handing in the medallions otherwise a quest will stall. I can't recall which but I would presume it to be related to the Order. I don't know if the bug is fixed with the last patch.

I can't recall which but I would presume it to be related to the Order. I don't know if the bug is fixed with the last patch. Yeah, I thought the quest that would get buggy was the "Taking down the Order", or whatever it's called. It's the over-arching "kill all the Orderlings" quest. In hindsight, you can't turn in the final 15 until you've collected the final token, so I likely misunderstood. If that one stalled without giving its wrap-up dialogue and reward, that would mean missing out on one of the primary storylines. It would also mean no Mjolnir, since you'd lack Thor's Cloak. That's why I felt it might have been best that Eivor immediately auto-dialogued about the Order. It closed my final window of opportunity to F-it up! In truth, this was likely not the case, since I'd clearly unveiled the Magaester by that point. I was probably well beyond the chance of triggering the bug. Humorously, if the codices are related, my failure to collect that codex page in Jorvik had saved me by default. Insulated by incompetence. 😄 My shoddy search effort on my first visit ensured that I'd not have all 6 until the game was essentially complete.

I have some spoiler-free gripes I'd like to air regarding this game. I've enjoyed it enough to start a second run after a 180 hour initial run. Still, there are a few decisions that leave me scratching my head.
Cosmetics. You have to buy them in shops. New haircuts? Tattoos? Decor? Gear? All of it you buy in shops. Okay. That makes reasonable sense. The part that doesn't make sense is that you must buy sight unseen. You get no preview before the purchase.
Want to know that weapon's perk, stats, or how it looks before purchase? Too bad, muthafucka. Use Google to find it. We aren't letting you see it here. Some for tattoo schematics. Same for pretty much everything save mounts.
Still, mounts didn't escape entirely unscathed. The grainy image of your mount appears on the right 60% of your screen. Of course, a text box hovers dead center, partially obscuring the mount. It's a bigger problem with birds, since Sýnnin is smaller than a horse. Interested in that Sýnnin skin? I hope you like to gamble, 'cause you're not getting an unobstructed view!
Yes, I exaggerate the importance of this by way of snark, but still-- WTF? Who thought this was a good vendor menu setup?
Secondly, I'd like to bitch about Skaldic Songs. They're generally awesome and my gripe is not with them. My complaint is that I rarely get to finish a song uninterrupted. Eivor hushes the skald every time we sail past a potential raid. Even if we stripped that location bare 100 hours ago, you must STFU and not sing until we've passed it. Some rivers are packed with targets, so forget songs altogether on certain trips.
Storytellers are disrespected in a similar fashion as singers, but they're smart enough to pause their accounts and resume when Eivor permits. Singers just start over from the beginning, quickly turning even the best song into a source of irritation.
I'd love to see the devs fix these things. They're bad design choices that need to be fixed. I don't think many Valhalla devs hang out here; but I appreciate everyone who read through my gripes. I have little doubt that most of you feel similarly.
