If you were just starting out, what would be the ONE item you would most want?

I made a new account about a year ago along with my brother. I remember he got the crusader in the free N7 pack that all new players receive. It was still his only "good" weapon after like 25 hours of games. As much as I love that gun, even without the fix, I would hate to use it as my exclusive gun for gold matches on a fresh account for even that long. Seems like a blessing and a curse to get something too good right away.

Having said that I think the Krogan Warlord would propel any new account to gold instantly and with decent clear times. Doesnt appeal to me though. Hmmm....maybe the Arc Pistol would be a fun and effective choice? Or maybe a Paladin for versatility and just melee everything if your guns are bad.

On this account, I got the Eagle as gift. This weapon has seen a lot of diss'ing, but I think it might be the best of the N7 gifts for a new player (light, and far better than what is available). Hurricane is superior, but takes some experience (and some weapon mods) to manage.

Warlord? I see a Warlord on a noob and I know we'll see some sync-kills. But yeah, for an experienced player on an alt-account, something different. I still suck with him. So I would pick AIU/Jugg every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Paladin, yes good choice. Especially if you are a Challenge whore!


I thought of grenade gear, but remember, my (arbitrary) rule: 1 item. So Grenade 1 < Shocktrooper/Warfighter. I love me my ST/WF gear

My choice would be unlocking one of the flamer kit. Flamer high damage output would allow you to contribute in gold right away even if your best gun is a Mantis I without any mods, while high shields/health regeneration grants you decent survivability even if you don't have any consumables or gear. Would be a good way to accumulate some decent credits early while being an useful teammate.

If I had to start fresh and brand new, I would want a few lucky rolls on the old RNG express:

Geth Infiltrator

Black Widow or even a trusty Geth Plasma Shotgun

Anything else is just frosting on the cake

Vanilla is just fine just to show the pugs with their maxed manifest your supperiorty. When needed, the vanilla kit IS the weapon.

I'm curious since you mention it right after Lancer as it doesn't work on that gun. Did you mean AR Magazine upgrade, which does?
