Morning All. Okay, so I tried out the 21 Day Free Trial back when Disney Plus first aired in November 2019, because my dad had an old Media oriented PC connected to our 2013 Samsung LED TV....But when the three week trial was over, I did not renew because my dad had disconnected that PC from the main TV and put it back on his desk. Now, with such high praise for The Mandolorian, and also the Final Season of Clone Wars and Rebels (or CW at least)...I have been debating on re-subscribing to Disney Plus-- but I only have my own PC to watch it on. Yes with my new monitor it might be acceptable given that it's a 32" 4K monitor, but still it's small compared to a 55" flat panel LED. And honestly watching Mandolorian on the 55" TV....I was not impressed with the picture quality. Not sure if it was just the TV, or more how they filmed it....But it looked like it had been filmed on old 35 or 70 mm film. The picture was very dull and washed-out. I expected better from a digital streaming service, even Netflix and Prime have better picture quality. I was expecting/hoping for a sharp, bright picture quality. Instead what I got looked like maybe 720p. Certainly not full 1080p. I was also not impressed that for the money and the hype, Mandalorian was only eight 25 minute episodes. That's like Saturday morning serialized kids' cartoons from the 1980s. Somehow I expected more. Like ten to twenty 45-minute episodes.
So....All in all.....Given my screen size and platform that I have to watch it on, and the amount of content (I'll pretty much only watch it for Mandolorian, Clone Wars/Rebels, STAR WARS-related things, and any of the new Marvel MCU content that is apparently due out)......Wold you say it is worth the money? I will be paying upwards of 6.99/month of 90.00 dollars/year CAD.
Honestly, I am having a hard time deciding on whether or not to spend the money. Hearing other people's experience, opinion, advice etc would help me to make an informed decision about the service and the shows, and also the quality of the content.
Regards

It really depends on how much of a Disney buff you are. You could binge watch all the shows you mentioned in less than a month, I would think. To me, having the Disney channel makes sense if you have small kids to keep entertained, but if it's just for you and you won't be watching it everyday, it might be a waste of money..? One nice thing I have found with it is that the new animations like Onward are being directly released on Disney plus, so if you do like Disney movies and want to keep up with their new releases, it could be worthwhile.

Thanks for the insight and reply Nopersdeviv. It will be just me watching it, I imagine. I think I'll save myself the 100 dollars CAD per year and skip the service all together. I just wish I could delete my CC information from their website/service. I don't like them having it stored on their servers if I am not using their services.
You wouldn't know how I could get them to delete my profile and CC Information, would you?

Does the absolute size of the monitor matter that much? I'd think where you sit would be more important.

I paid the one year lump sum. I haven’t watched any of their old, old stuff, but took a stroll down memory lane with the animated Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King films (which all looked fine). Gargoyles and XMen animated looked their age, but that was more to do with the animation style of the time, than anything else, I think. XMen does not hold up, but Gargoyles did, only watched four episodes of each, though.
There isn’t masses of content - they really need those MCU limited series to be released, but for the price I paid, I personally consider it to be “worth it”, albeit just.

I’m a classic junkie and it has shit like The Computer that Wore Tennis Shoes, The Absent minded Professor, and all those wonderful shorts from the 40s to 60s. O and Davy Crocket and those classic 80s/90s cartoon shows.
It’s worth it.

You wouldn't know how I could get them to delete my profile and CC Information, would you? worth it is subjective, I pay for amazon prime becasue it gave me free delivery on shopping, the free tv was a bonus and is defo worth it for me, the Disney channel would be worth it if the cost of buying those episodes you want to watch is more than the cost of the subscription and you cant watch them elsewhere.... its always a cost analysis, can you get it for the same or less elsewhere... if the answer is no and you have to have it then it becomes "worth it" I will no doubt get the Disney channel in the future when I have grandkids stopping over regularly or my only non adult teen pesters me enough for it (not likely he's addicted to netflix and xbox)

So yesterday when I was watching the Clemson v. Pittsburgh game, I saw a trailer for a biographical movie about former Clemson player Ray-Ray McElrathby and at first I didn't know what it was and when I clued in to it being a movie I was surprised they actually used the real university team and stadium.....Then I realized it must be a Bio, so they would have to for authenticity.
And then there's the final seasons of Clone Wars and Rebels that I would like to watch, as well as The Mandalorian. When I first signed up for Disney+ last year when it was announced...I'm not sure whether it was the TV I was watching it on, the PC it was streaming from or whatever...But the picture quality was not sharp at all. It looked like it had been filmed on VHS in standard definition. And so when my free trial subscription expired, I didn't bother renewing it because I was disappointed with the picture quality. I've seen better on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
But now there is so much more content and with things like Mandalorian Season 2, Clone Wars season 7 and now this movie about my favourite football team.....I am reconsidering a subscription even if I have watch it all from my own PC, which has only a 32" monitor (compared to a 55" TV screen) but at least my monitor is 4K, so I could accept the tr1045 a.m.ade off.
Edit: As of 10:45 am I've discussed a workaround and a compromise with my folks, as my dad suggested using one of his small notebooks to connect to the TV rather than his secondary PC (which doesn't clone the resolution native 1080p properly anyway....that's always been an issue for us) but for some reason the little HP notebook works perfectly. And it takes up far less space, so I decided to do that instead.
