I predicted a 2021 late launch a while back and it might still happen but 2022, almost 8 years since DAI launched. BioWare wasted their time with Anthem, focus on your flagship franchises. Look at Yakuza, year after year release, sure they reuse the same maps but the games have built a strong formula after all these years. By now we should be around DA5.

No way this game launches in 2021, especially with the pandemic and work from home policies stifling development. At best, I'm going with late 2022. Early 2023 being the most likely. Yeah, nearly 9 years of waiting sucks, but they (BioWare) need all the time they can get at this point.

I'm done voting in these polls. My original guess of 2019 from several years ago is already in the past and I think I chose 2021 in the next iteration. It just gets depressing to look back at.

Whatever year they initially announce, expect it to be delayed until the next.

Damn there is a blast from the past.
Right now this excercise is rather...I don't want to say pointlesss but based on the little information we do have its gonna be 2022-2023. And since Anthem released in 2019 this makes a lot of sense.
Yes it sucks that we've had to wait this long. Yes it sucks that they tried something different with Anthem. But at the end of the day I don't care when it releases...I just care about the state it releases in. And of that I highly doubt its gonna be a bad game.

I agree, I care more about how the next Dragon Age is released. BioWare has a history of releasing a game every three years so BioWare taking time to experiment with Anthem doesn't bother me. I am probably also in the minority here, but I also would like BioWare to re-evaluate what they plan on doing with their games for it seems like they plans they make just aren't realistic and therefore things inevitably get cut or forces delays. If they do that I think the overall release quality of their games would be better instead of trying to cram everything into the game and then realize they have to alter what they are doing near the end.

I have no opinion on whether they should have made Anthem at all. I think it's more that many fans, including myself, don't understand why they wouldn't try to recoup their losses from MEA with DA4 instead of going with a new IP as a gamble. I just seems more logical to me that it would have gone MEA > DA4 > Anthem.

Because Anthem was already in development and Dragon Age 4 wasn't.

Because Anthem was already in development and Dragon Age 4 wasn't. So? That's a decision for leadership to make in weighing the pros and cons of shifting development from a new IP that is a gamble after MEA's poor reception to something that is likely to sell well and get a lot of pre-orders. They could have put it on the back burner.

Whlist I like MEA and still enjoy playing it the whole my face is tired shit did wea rdown on even me at times. They can't afford things like that happening with DA4.

I've the DA team shouldn't have saved both games, we would wait for DA5 now. And DA4 was in pre-produktion with joplin as they switch to MEA and with Anthem it was canceled. What do you think how many hours are lost, if they didn't use anything? No for me somebody has use the opportunity to get rid of Joplin.

I agree the year isn't importent. As long as DA frainchise remain as it was in DAO and DAI with little new thinks i only wait. I would get really sad, if they change to many thinks because they in and i cann't enjoy the game anymore. Or they take to little time to make it round. (DA2 was so).

At one point there were three teams for BioWare. Edmonton had the Dragon Age/Anthem teams and Montreal had the Andromeda team. I am not sure what you mean by "saved" either. The Mass Effect 3 team moved to Anthem right after Mass Effect 3: Citadel. During the crunch months they moved people from Dragon Age 4 to help with Anthem, but moving people for a couple of months is different then moth balling a project that has been in development for years. BioWare generally had a rotation for their people in Edmonton and they just moved people around as needed between the projects and plenty of people worked on both franchises. As far as I know they moved people from Anthem to help finish Andromeda for they did a temporary move of Mac Walters to the Andromeda team and he was working on Anthem at the time. I doubt they consider any hours potentially "lost" with pre-production for that is what it is for, experimentation and prototyping to see what works and doesn't work. If the entire concept doesn't work they go back and start over. I doubt Dragon Age 4 is the first game to have that fate. Its when a game going into full blown development when cutting content or making massive changes gets expensive. Edit: According to AskAGameDev they believe 50%+ of games make it out of pre-production. Link

So trying to read beyond two levels of editorializing. Fine they moved people from Dragon Age to Andromeda, but Dragon Age was cancelled before being moved to Anthem according to that Kotaku article. So they weren't moved to save Anthem they were moved because their game no longer existed which I think says more about what Dragon Age was then what was happening with Anthem. Also reading what the developers were describing that Dragon Age game would have crashed and burned just like what people say happened to Anthem, personally it sounded like a project that would have had a lot of development hell. It was a Anthem version of Dragon Age where it was all multiplayer which the funny thing is what a live service game is so if they are removing the multiplayer only aspect of the game it means it probably will be less live service now.

Yes you can say they cancel DA4 and then send them to Anthem. But anthem struggled as MEA. And DA4 is canceled because of no live services. fine excuse you musst help the anthem team we make a new DA4. I hate marketing even if I work there myself. DA4 will now be more DAI or DA2 or worse, before it would be DAO.
with development hell you mean choices, right? That is what DA frainchise is about. and yes it isn't easy but it is live service for me. You will play the game not only one time. People play it very often because DAO have 6 origions and 4 romance and many choices. what i have heard people get faster bored of anthem than DAO.
The Anthem version is morrison not the first Joplin version. And morrision will have multiplayer at lest. Joplin wasn't live service because the main focus lies on the mistakes DAI had and not on live service.

Developers have to be allowed to try new things (as if any of us could stop them), otherwise what is the fucking point?
I have no opinion on whether they should have made Anthem at all. I think it's more that many fans, including myself, don't understand why they wouldn't try to recoup their losses from MEA with DA4 instead of going with a new IP as a gamble. I just seems more logical to me that it would have gone MEA > DA4 > Anthem.
I don't know why they did what they did, but let's be real, as far as this forum is concerned, there was never going to be a GOOD time for BioWare to release Anthem, or any sort of multiplayer-focussed game.
