Since I'm still catching up on some stuff I've only now seen some of the outfits in this game and like everything else in the art department it's a major WTF. www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/s/KzQ9J2FbQkUsually I'm the last person you want to ask about fashion because I dislike most armor/outfits in games, including most stuff in BG3. But judging by the comments, they really ARE absolutely hideous. Like, what even is picture 9?? Or 12?!? Honestly, at this point I'm just laughing. Is it just me or is the head too big for the body in these images?

Is it just me or is the head too big for the body in these images? You're behind the times, the size ratio of the head to body was a subject on the internet weeks ago. Some people were saying the critics were the ones who altered the head shots to make them look worse, whilst others genuinely tried to show how it would look better if sized down slightly. Not sure if this is affected by race or where the debate ended up eventually but it is possible the proportions on the character models for Rook (and some of the companions) are slightly off.

But judging by the comments, they really ARE absolutely hideous. Like, what even is picture 9?? Or 12?!? Honestly, at this point I'm just laughing. You forgot number 7, with the dagger motif down the chest; I assume it is probably to do with the Mourn Watch. Also, have you seen the ridiculous outfits they gave to the Antaam in Treviso? I can only assume that they are still not being supported from Par Vollen and unable to craft decent armour for themselves. However, the Qunari outfits have been getting gradually worse and worse every game. In DA2 it was understandable because probably their best gear was at the bottom on the sea but later iterations with ropes holding the armour together and the Viddasala wearing a giant book on her shoulder (highly impractical and inefficient) are a far cry from the codices in DAO which described their battle armour as superior to anything seen in the rest of Thedas. And apparently whoever designed these said they wanted to give cosplayers a challenge?! I thought the whole point of a fantasy world is consistency and continuity with previously established lore and designs, not let's go with something new and bazaar so people can have fun dressing up in the real world. I play the game for immersion in the world of Thedas, not to get ideas for Halloween.

Wait, I was hoping the big head was a CC slider accident, as well as those narrow hips. That the person who made RooK is as bad at proportions as the people who designed these clothes are at color scheme and... everything else. Yeah BioWare has completely lost the plot as far as I'm concerned. I don't know what weird social media groups they've been designing this game for but it sure doesn't seem to be the average player. Not their old fans either who are all about past choices, lore and good writing, I would assume. Whatever bubble they've been in, it might soon pop. And then I expect the players to be blamed for not getting it, which seems to be the go to knee jerk response these days to not meeting expectations.

Jurassic World had a budget of around $150 million and brought in over $1.5 billion from the box office despite being terrible in all aspects. I guess, people simply like to watch dinosaurs. Meanwhile, actual dinosaur fans are very annoyed with Jurassic World's outdated depiction of dinosaurs. When will they get through their skulls that Velociraptor was a turkey-sized, fluffy and feathery wonder? Since I'm still catching up on some stuff I've only now seen some of the outfits in this game and like everything else in the art department it's a major WTF. www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/s/KzQ9J2FbQkI think we might be returning to the belt era of armor design. Add as much random crap dangling from the armor as possible. Also, lol at this thing XD We'll see how Weekes fairs in DAV. While he seems a competent enough writer, I don't trust him not inject his activism where it doesn't belong. Case in point, he changed the Qun to fit Krem. The Qun is all about individual expression, didn't ya know?

While he seems a competent enough writer, I don't trust him not inject his activism where it doesn't belong. Masked Empire was good but his political critique didn't really stretch much beyond "Feudalism is bad, Celene's incrementalism is bad + Celene is an untrustworthy sociopath". We'll see how he fares in DA4.

They're not off, just real life scale which normally isn't really used in games. I asked about this from my studios art director as it was also a topic in my team, he said the models look like straight from scan. As in real life proportions. Usually the games opt for the more heroic body proportions where the head is smaller compared to the rest of the body. It's an odd decisions in terms of art direction but honestly art direction has been crap since MEA. Absolutely hated with what they did with it, all the alien races looked so sloppy.

Something just clicked for me. Solas is trapped in the Fade, so that the possibility of him having Mythal's control over either Quizzy or Morrigan, or whether he has Urthemiel's soul/power as well, just won't factor into the plot. He's been removed from the ability to have his magical power level impact the world because there were too many variables in regards to how powerful he is or how much magical influence he can have on others. Now it doesn't matter, because he no longer has any plot-driving power beyond being a voice in Rook's ear/head.

Now it doesn't matter, because he no longer has any plot-driving power beyond being a voice in Rook's ear/head. It may impact on the geas. Perhaps you do have to be in the Waking World, although Flemeth was able to influence when both parties were in the Fade. However, don't think being in the Fade completely negates Solas' power as a Dreamer. The whole point is that a Dreamer uses the Fade to contact people in the Waking World, so if he is already in the Fade, theoretically that ought to make it easier. In fact this whole business of how Solas connects with Rook likely has to do with his Dreamer ability as much as their blood, although he is not going to tell them that. I assume that during his millennia slumber Solas was in the Lighthouse, which is technically in the Fade, and he was still able to contact his followers from there. Solas maintained his contact with Felassan through the Fade and ultimately killed him through the same means, so don't think that either Rook or the Inquisitor are safe from him. He is still highly dangerous.

So. A little over two weeks away. Anyone pre-ordered or planning on buying on release? Speaking for myself, I'm going to wait for reviews and watch some playthroughs before buying. How 'bout y'all?

So. A little over two weeks away. Anyone pre-ordered or planning on buying on release? Speaking for myself, I'm going to wait for reviews and watch some playthroughs before buying. How 'bout y'all? Pre ordered, and mostly ready to go. I've been playing those games on release since DA2. Played DAO a couple of month after it launched. If I don't play, I'll be watching that game on Youtube the minute it's out, and spoil myself rotten. I expect some disappointment, and I'm probably going to be quite annoyed by a couple of story beats for companions. I don't like Solas as a character either, as a trickster god, my favorite kind he just doesn't fit the bill. He's just annoying, overpowered, knowledgeable, as a pc you can't do nothing against him just stand there while he lectures. And I can't stand it. The peak of hilarity for me is the lore implies he might have been a spirit of wisdom. Except if there's something Solas lacks in spades it's wisdom. I hope it gets better but I aren't holding my breath. I hope the wardens aren't given the idiot ball again. I expect the game will be fine though. Fairly ok combat, polished cinematics...just not a wide range of roleplay, no interesting emergeant gameplay, etc....

Haven't preordered and most likely won't be buying on release. I'm getting too much of a "boredom and lame writing" vibe - if this wasn't a Dragon Age game I would shrug and skip the trailers. The "achievement" list seems to consist of mostly participation awards for reaching certain moments of the storyline which seems to be an oddly apt reflection on the entire game as far as I'm concerned.
Assuming the trailers showed the better parts - after all they're trying to make us buy the game - and how "meh" they left me feeling about the whole thing I have very little interest on spending time, let alone money, on Veilguard. I barely have enough time to play the games I really enjoy. It also doesn't help that I heartily don't care about anything Solas or elf related in the DA universe.

No pre-order from me. I know I'lll be angry at myself and very likely the game if I buy it shortly after release. But darn if the overall story doesn't attract me like rotten meat attracts a fly. On the other hand, I really don't want to support a lot of the crap they are throwing at us. Some of these shitty decisions do not deserve money.
It seems like Veilguard Steam accounts are already down to like 30 € so maybe I'll just get it that way.

I haven't looked nor plan to look at the achievement list but your description sounds like every other BioWare game, finish this chapter, do this quest, hit this level, they were always a pretty easy 1000 score on the 360.

No, I have decided to buy a new computer during black friday/week so might as well wait. Thinking on waiting to the christmas period since I'm guessing there will be a discount then even if the game sells well.

I think they're going ME2 mixed with ME3. Find experts, suicide like mission, Solas is sort of your Elusive Man. I always liked DA more than ME so it's a bizarre thing. I got annoyed when i heard synth music sounding like Mass Effect during a companion mission. It felt so out of place. Solas even managed a "this is beyond your comprehension" during the prologue. And it's such a weak argument in his mouth. He's not an alien. The Blight and mages out of control is something we've been dealing with since DAO.

I think I made it abundantly clear how I dislike this fake DA game so no, I won't be getting it. And all the various playthrough I've watched from the "wined & dined" crowd merely confirmed my earlier assessment.

I got the game before the worldstate debacle and I'll finish it out of spite, to get it out of my system as quickly as possible. It's bizarre how things turned out.

Definitely not a full price buy for me. If the game is Andromeda level writing then I shouldn't give BioWare any money at all this time either.
Since I want to be part of the discussions, I'm now debating whether or not to watch a non commentary let's play and ruin playing it myself at some point. I DO want to play it but I refuse to reward BioWare for a bad game if it's indeed really bad. If reviews and the general feedback by long term fans is okish I could be swayed to buy a discounted key in the near future, I guess.

I am poor and doing my master's thesis, so they'd have to really knock my socks off for me to pre-order but have failed to do so.
Waiting for a good discount on this one, I am in no hurry.

Mass Effect 3 taught me that spoiling yourself can be a good thing.
