Too bad I don't like popcorn. What heresy is this?! But thanks for reminding me I have a popcorn machine. I keep forgetting. It's definitely going to be interesting! I honestly can't tell what the user reception will be and how to even tell because the game is going to get review bombed. I guess the best indicator of how much people actually enjoy the game is Steam player numbers and how quickly they fall off. This will be the true metric right here because.... It will be review bombed and review inflated. The bombs will be deleted. It's just a matter of if the critic moderators will be able to keep up or not. The glazing reviews will be completely superficial, flowery nonsense that is careful not to be particularly specific about any one supposed positive aspect. And then you'll have the actual reviews, both positive and negative. It's just a matter of sifting through the debris. And it didn't have to be this way. One need look no further than Metaphor Refantazio. A game with heavy progressive themes but manages to stick its world of fantasy. It doesn't proselytize. It's simply a good game. This right here - it will absolutely be both review bombed and inflated, but the inflated reviews will be kept. And yes, you are right about Metaphor - it's a fantastic game. I've been enjoying it myself.

I'm a very feminine man who may or may not be transitioning in the future. I don't have a solid answer yet one way or the other, according to most guys in my social circle (who arent exactly the picture of masculinity themselves), I'm still on a very feminine edge of that spectrum.
The NB shit confuses the hell out of me. In a weird way its existence almost feels like it reinforces gender stereotypes - like if you're a very feminine man or tomboy you're suddenly NB? I don't get it. I really, really dislike how it certainly seems like the devs are using the existence of gender minorities (NB, trans, etc) as a shield against criticism. That's abhorrent to me and will, in my opinion, only result in more hatred to those groups with publicity stunts like these.
You wanna pander to me Bioware? The gender nonconforming potential transwoman? Bring back spirit healing from DAO/DA2. The barrier system was god awful and I detest how DA4's combat is just a blatant god of war ripoff. The Tank/Healer/Dps system is considered a holy trinity for a reason and I hate how gimped the healing specialization has become thanks to the devs idiotic actions. Also bring back the rivalry system, was an amazing feature in DA2 it was just forgotten about after that game. From the handful of Non-Binary people I spoke with at work about it, they say it's because "tomboy" and "feminine man" are problematic according to them. It's apparently part of the outdated language that "needs to go away", according to them.

I appreciate David Gaider a lot and have tons of respect for him. Was every line of dialogue he ever wrote perfect? Of course not, but overall he is a symbol of the great old Bioware to me, and I honestly didn't expect to get so much push back against this opinion but I met many DA fans that really despise him in the past. I don't like how he blocked female Dwarf and Qunari romances while greenlighting/giving his blessing to the Iron Bull.

I honestly hate that. I think people should judge this game fairly. All of this hyperbolic language of greatest thing ever/worst thing ever is really unhelpful. But that's a bigger fantasy than Thedas

>Isabela is a leader of, or affiliated with, the Lords of Fortune >Taash will pursue Harding if neither are romanced by the player >The Antaam are blighting the dragons on behalf of the Evanuris >More vague memberberries/references to DA2 that implicitly decanonize certain choices from that game (betraying Isabela to the Qunari, for example) >There's a really dumb subboss/offshoot of the Antaam called the Dragon King who is so 2 dimensionally cartoonish that I have no idea what the devs were thinking
First wave of spoilers. A lot of it's really, really dumb A couple of more comments on the video. Is it me or with the Isabella section is she constantly breaking the 4th wall? It's like she knows the "camera" is effectively there and she is speaking to it, to us as an audience, particularly during the preachy bits. It made me feel like she was the lecturer saying "listen up kids, this is important".
Also, again perhaps its me, but there is something odd about Isabella's face, apart from the fact that she doesn't look her age. The structure is different and, dare I say it, less feminine. I mean Taash looks more feminine in her facial structure. Certainly, if they hadn't said that was Isabella I would never have recognised her. Where did our lovely pirate queen go? Said it before - the design/artist team really don't like Isabella. I mean...I'm not her biggest fan, either, but this is some next level hate train stuff right here...

I define "masculinity" in my own way and what it means for me to be a man. In the end, you have to do what's going to make you feel comfortable in your own skin, because once you do, no one can take that away from you, no matter who or what tries. I'd give you a virtual hug, but I don't know you well enough to do so. Just be true to yourself is the best I can say.

As for "what he has become", I highly doubt we know him well enough to judge who he is as a person I tried "Stray Gods" and uninstalled it within minutes. (I did NOT need a "Stolen Land" screed in the intro) But fair enough about knowing him. I'll adjust to say "I don't like how he has handled DA criticism in public"

I've even played that mod (Called "Ascension") and it includes a lot of stuff that ended up on the cutting room floor when ToB was released. Which is why I find his "tourist" comment particularly offensive. I have been playing Bioware games damn near as long as he'd been with the company. (insert Aslan "I was there when it was written" meme here)

I recall when I was at a family wake, and my mom introduced my sister and myself to some out-of-town relatives, and we were asked what we did for a living. "I'm a mechanic" she said "I'm a librarian" I said Mom: "So much for gender stereotypes, eh?"

Fair enough. I have no context to comment further, I can only tell you I remember the days he would mod BG2TOB because he didn't like the ending and talked about it with fans in the forum. I wasn't even there I just remember seeing the old discussion and thinking how cool is that. But to be fair I think many developers were like that back then Yes. I've even played that mod (Called "Ascension") and it includes a lot of stuff that ended up on the cutting room floor when ToB was released. Which is why I find his "tourist" comment particularly offensive. I have been playing Bioware games damn near as long as he'd been with the company. (insert Aslan "I was there when it was written" meme here) I honestly don't think he is wrong about it, even if he could have said it more nicely. And there is little doubt there are many, many "anti woke" tourists that are trying to get some views from ragebiting and stuff.

Even if Taash was a bisexual Miranda Lawson-like goddess full of sex appeal, if her entire personality was her sexuality it would still be annoying and cringeworthy tbh. For fuck sake even Isabela was a character first and a bi bombshell second. A character's entire personality being only about their sexuality is dehumanizing. Add to this, the character needs constant affirmation. For a dragon hunter, Taash is incredibly fragile. I wouldn't actually mind, if this was presented as a character flaw she can learn to deal with. But I doubt we'll be able to tell her anything like: "Those who depend on others' affirmation will never be free. They'll just end up as slaves of those with the power to withhold it."

More stuff about the plot and ending leaked. Not enough to get a complete picture but it's more than we had before

More stuff about the plot and ending leaked. Not enough to get a complete picture but it's more than we had before so it's an exact repeat of ME2. I can't say it's a bad thing

I can't say it's a bad thing For all of Weekes' soapboxxing about how he apparently hated the "Peace" choice in Rannoch, and how the Mages vs Templars choice in Inquisition felt like a step in the right direction - this sure feels like backpaddling. Especially if the "best" ending is determinate on you choosing the "correct" city to save.

From the handful of Non-Binary people I spoke with at work about it, they say it's because "tomboy" and "feminine man" are problematic according to them. It's apparently part of the outdated language that "needs to go away", according to them. This makes me very, very angry. Why?! Because if people don't conform to gender stereotypes they're somehow not those gender anymore? What sense does that make?! It makes sense if you believe that your social reality, and nothing else, defines your gender. That's the foundational premise behind all that stuff. And no matter how much sense *that* makes, it's hard to challenge because it's an article of faith. I'd like to say more but I don't want my post to be removed.
