I think the Doctors leaving tore a vacuum that never was filled properly. That is likely on EA - then again: good games are made by inspired people and those are hard to come by. They tend to rather try their own thing than climb corporate ladders. Yeah I think the Doctors leaving was the biggest change and you really feel it after that. And some days I think to myself damn you why did have to go and do something as useless as literally saving people's lives instead of making more video games for me!!!!11 but than I think that A. "Come on dude get over yourself" and B. If they don't care for doing that anymore forcing them to won't lead to anywhere good. Both of them left the medical practice prior to founding Bioware. afaik, Zeschuk now runs a restaurant and a couple of breweries, and Muzaka does venture capital stuff.

Push ups = flagellation, huh? Good thing my curiosity got the better of me and I did read that spoiler. For a moment I though it was actually something serious. Can't wait for the first month after launch to be over so I can read actual balanced thoughts instead of melodrama from both extremes.

We should have a pinned list of who has now bailed on the game or something, lol. I haven't read those endgame spoilers that seem to have done it for some people. I really want to be surprised by just how bad exactly the writing is. I won't be paying for this game either anymore. This leaves me with two options. Man, I hope this game goes down in history as the worst written modern audiences game ever made. It's just so very fitting that the title should go to BioWare. They've worked hard to get there for 10 years! I honestly can't imagine how to do any worse than what I've seen in reviews. And those were just snippets and I'm already in stitches. This is the best unintentional parody ever. I can't wait for the meme machine on this one. (Yes, I'm a gleeful little goblin sometimes when I feel like it's well deserved ridicule.) I really hope this game somehow has bad sales. Sadly Bioware won't understand otherwise. Remember Andromeda got tons of hate too and was basically a meme. Yet with Veilguard instead of learning Bioware doubled down on the immature writing, preachy bs & lack of RP because Andromeda sold well enough. This game needs flop hard. Sad to say about my once favourite developer but change won't come otherwise

We should have a pinned list of who has now bailed on the game or something, lol. I'm nothing if not commited to my own stupidity. Veilguard probably going to take me through all the stages of grief. We're both idiots. I need to see with my own eyes how they wrap up this storyline. Hopefully it will be so shockingly bad that it cures me of my pathological need to finish every story I start. The Walking Dead S8 finally did that. Was so throw my arms up shit I could finally walk away from a series that wasn't worth wasting my time on to begin with. I REALLY need to work on just walking away... I'll probably still be here to bitch and moan about the next Mass Effect because of my annoying morbid curiosity. A game I'd pay to NOT be made. I never wanted Andromeda, never wanted any more Mass Effect. It was an incredible journey. But it was DONE. At least nobody can take the trilogy from me. Even a sort of sequel can't ruin my memory. I'll just keep pretending the other Mass Effect games don't exist like S9 of Scrubs doesn't exist. But Dragon Age is an unfinished mystery box and I HATE that. I need to look. Ugh.

Funny how I thought Taash might actually turn out to be the best most nuanced companion because Weekes wrote her. Was hoping she'd charm me like Karlach. Sigh. (Btw I love how my phone keeps correcting her name to "Trash".) Weekes is literally an activist writer. It's no wonder why Taash have these interactions.

I have to admit that I do find it peculiar that nearly all of the examples of terrible writing stems from Taash's story. I wonder what the other companions have in store. It can't be as bad. No way. Edit: My original post was too spicy apparently. I dunno man. I want to hope that, but playing kindergarten teacher with Emmerich and Harding, and Davrin and Lucanis, looked pretty bad...

Seems like the phone AI is really outdated.

(Btw I love how my phone keeps correcting her name to "Trash".) Larian actually has good writers unlike Bioware these days. BG3 was very inclusive without being preachy and obnoxious about it. It also had great companions for the most part who were flawed and compelling, tons of RP options (most in any game I have played in a long time), balanced tone (some humor but overall mature) etc. Bioware wishes they could deliver a game like that now but they can't. The Karlach and Tash comparison is on point, they represent the games well. Karlach is funny, interesting and endearing with a tragic backstory and many different paths her story can end in. Tash meanwhile is more of a vehicle to push an agenda, her character is reduced to only her gender identity and she seems egocentric as hell & you are forced to kiss her ass 24/7.

Discover the corpse of Dragon Age hidden in a back room, shriek, and bolt for the door. Engagement will fall off a cliff, BioWare will be excoriated and EA will be left to pick up the pieces.

The writing being bad is not just with Taash, if only it was. They're butchering the lore, even Trespasser lore. You know, the only part of the previous game with choices they actually chose to carry over (but not really).
Weekes writing Taash while also being non-binary is baffling. Is this how you raise awareness? It only made me, someone who didn't really care about the subject to honestly just get fed up with it altogether. And even if one could claim Taash is not a real person, it's still an obnoxious and unlikable self-insert.

No way he gives a 7...he and his crew have already looked at some of the footage with a fairly meh response...one of the guys outright said he wouldn't play it because the combat looked terrible. Probably wont see a review for at least 2 weeks after release though. I'll wait as long as needed for Joe to put either full or rapid fire review. My safe bet that it is going to be around 6-7 just because DAV does not have microtransactions which adds at least one to Joe's scores.

If you think my pointing out a logical fallacy that equates flagellation to someone doing a few push ups to reinvigorate or clear their head after making an oopsie is grounds for you not engaging with me anymore, your prerogative. No skin off my nose. But I do have to chuckle at the fact the past 10 pages (if not more at this point because this thread is going fast right now) have had multiple posts attacking the writers and wanting the studio to close down but me laughing at melodrama is what is going too far. That's not skepticism, that's just being unpleasant. And no, I'm not a Positive Polly but I'm capable of criticizing both what I don't like and feel doesn't make sense about the game and the people that seem to want to twist things to what's, let's say, not really real.

In reference to Taash in that conversation saying, "What, who doesn't like dragons?" someone on this board said, "I dunno, maybe peasants who had their homes burned to the ground and their lives destroyed?" Something to that effect. Gave me a good laugh. Like seriously I can't believe this is real.

In fact, I'd highly recommend getting BG3 over Veilguard. BG3 is a ridiculous horny gay parade in some way but the companion stories aren't about that. They're just people with some serious fucked up problems. I would have had no problems with DAV being like that too. If the writing is great nobody cares! It's all good. My dark urge fucked everything willing, men, women, both at the same time, demons. Would have fucked a corpse if an option. It was ridiculous stupid fun to play a horny deranged psychopath on my second PT. And I got the absolute best ending for that character. Just perfect. DAV couldn't be any more different from BG3 despite both being "progressive" while BG3 gave me serious DAO nostalgia. Man, the irony.

I can see why people are wanting to hate play this, it is hilarious to be honest. I'll stick to youtube clips over a full price game though methinks. And the way the voice actor delivers his lines in that scene had me crying. He’s talking to supposed adults as if they’re toddlers. It’s amazing. Rook really is nothing more than a babysitter. I have a 5 year old and an almost 3 year old. This is literally what it's like to model dispute resolution for small children.

Warden - Ogrhen, wouldn't it be nice if you didn't make sexual advances onto every female companion in our group?
Ogrhen - The thought crossed my mind.
Warden - And Wynne, wouldn't it be nice if you helped Oghren and learned how to brew better ale?
Wynne - I believe so, yes.

People either buy the game because they're diehard fans, casuals who liked the trailer(s) looking for some easy RPG action or because they hate play it. Hell, the no denuvo thing might be banking on people pirating it for giggles only to decide it's not THAT bad and buy it on sale at some point. There really is no bad publicity. People like car crashes. I am convinced this game will sell just fine and EA will be happy and BioWare will live to completely ruin Mass Effect next. Seriously, after Anthem I wonder if BioWare is somehow unkillable. I still don't understand how they survived Anthem. EA is not a kind master. They kill studios for less. So Anthem must have sold enough too. Bad quality/bad reception/bad reputation doesn't bother EA. As long as they make a profit they couldn't care less it seems. Frankenstein's monster will remain on the loose.
