Really looking forward to this. I barely played the original PnP game, but loved the successor, Werewolf: The Forsaken, to death. The trailer looks great.
Only reservations I have so far is the studio, and the focus on eco-terrorism. The 2018 Call of Cthulhu had its charms, but they're gonna have to work a lot harder to make a satisfying werewolf Action-RPG in this setting.
And while protection of the environment and spirits from truly egregious violations played a big part in the RPGs, The Forsaken at least put just as much emphasis on the Uratha's duty to prevent spirits from fucking too much with the human world, which felt like a good balance. Not sure if that was the case in the Apocalypse too, but it's an aspect I'll be missing if it isn't present.

Epic Game Store exclusive and published by Nacon (formerly BigBen Interactive), who recently screwed Frogwares over their game "The Sinking City".
Pity.

I'm a console gamer, so PC game store politics aren't my area of expertise. And sure the publisher might be shifty, but hopefully that isn't going to affect the game itself.

It depends - it's a matter of personal opinion and preference. I'm personally not comfortable installing that particular client and I'm not a fan of Epic buying their exclusives with Fortnite money then telling us gamers that it's somehow to our advantage. Exclusives are essentially hostage situations. Nacon is plenty fishy - they kinda have the Innsmouth look. Apparently they paid Frogwares only with big delays for The Sinking City, then decided they wanted to do another Lovecraft game and demanded that Frogwares hand over the source code of The Sinking City despite not owning the IP or anything. When Frogwares refused, all payments were stopped and Frogwares eventually had the game pulled from most stores to prevent Nacon from raking in the profits while they didn't see a dime.

Consoles have exclusives too, but it usually just results in quiet enmity and dead certainty that the stupid bastards on the other side definitely have the worse deal. I wouldn't describe it as a hostage situation. Business-minded and annoying, sure, but not immoral. Nacon does sound like a bunch of cheats when you put it like that. As I said though, it hopefully won't affect the quality of the game itself. Financial shenanigans to the point of games being pulled off the shelves are pretty uncommon. Are you a fan of the RPG? I played a bunch of the different World of Darkness splats when I was younger, but the interest in it thinned out in my region around ten years ago so I haven't had anyone to play it with in forever.

I played a bunch of the different World of Darkness splats when I was younger, but the interest in it thinned out in my region around ten years ago so I haven't had anyone to play it with in forever. I think it's not quite the same as a console exclusive - a console game made for one particular console requires an investment of time and resources to be ported to another platform, while in the case of PC games the exclusivity is entirely arbitrary - use their particular client software or you won't get it. And there aren't that many people who think that the Epic Game Store is a great thing, it's more like it's an acceptable evil for some and an unacceptable one for others, if that makes sense. It should't affect the quality of the game at all unless there was some kind of rushed release. Everything else is up to the dev studio. I have been a World of Darkness fan for quite some time now. I started gamesmastering Vampire The Masquerade Second Edition right after it was released in '92 and kept doing it for years, always with the same gang of real life friends. Then people got jobs and wives and moved to other parts of the country and now gaming with them has become a luxury we indulge in maybe three or four times a year, plus one big weekend dedicated to roleplaying games every November. But interest moved to other games like Warhammer 40k, Shadowrun and Call of Cthulhu. But we always very fondly remember our Vampire The Masquerade years. I do own the Werewolf core rulebook, but only to make them better antagonists.
