Mass Effect 'Legendary edition' remaster expected early 2021

Mm-hm & in early 2021 they'll claim it'd been delayed again I bet, notice how they're being more & more cagey with their dates, we'll see, but I'm skeptical

Sounds like a lot of backpedaling from Jeff Grubb, to me, to be honest.

I'm sorry, but his "source" is a huge asshole if this is all a fake. Will see come N7 Day/Game Awards... but I have doubts. For what it's worth, he was given a pre-release Series X. I mean, if he was a hack Microsoft wouldn't send him one.

Or he could tell the truth that he was lying or given bad information.

People aren't dumb though, when "early 2021" and no Remaster...

Not saying he is a hack, but at the same time I don't know of a person that writes on rumors is correct 100% of the time even if they have sources.  To me the information has been too vague and the date has been incorrect now multiple times for me to believe what he is being told or speculating on is accurate.

there are far too many coincidences happening for there not to be something Mass Effect related within the next couple of months.

• the recently reopened Bioware store (that is not only restocking fan favourites such as plush Mordin and Garrus, but also new items)
• the Art of Mass Effect Trilogy - extended edition (Feb 2021)
• Mass Effect: the complete Comics paperback (Nov 2020)
• Shinobi and Grub providing plausible info and hints regarding a Trilogy remaster

As I said in the Twitter thread: I'm ok if they take longer to finish and improve this legendary edition, after all is supposed to be a celebration of this beloved IP and game series. Hopefully it also puts less pressure on the work/life balance of the devs.

the reasons stated for the delay, covid reasons aside, was mainly to improve the ME1 experience, which is quite different from ME2 and ME3.

Personally I think that's awesome they are apparently willing to do that!
It also gives me hope that they might do more than simply improving the visuals, for example:

• modify the Paragon/Renegade system (with both counting towards a single reputation points total which then allows for the special dialogue so you can play red/blue as much as you like, without having to worry to be locked out)
• a streamlined inventory and weapons mods etc.
• fixing some plot flags like the Gaby/Ken recruitment/romance in ME3
• include all special armor and weapons from preorders and specific vendors, N7 / collectors editions

If we are really lucky they do it along the OG Mafia remaster.
AFAIK they took the game engine from Mafia 3 and used it for 1, thus massively improved and "aligned" the gameplay/shooting/driving.
They also provide the "old gameplay" options for those that prefer them.
Huge graphics and audio update too, but at least so far no story chances that I remember. Thus a love letter to the original creators and all fans of the series.

Anyway, despite already having MET on PC and Xbox I plan to get the legendary edition for the consoles at least.

PC
The PC OG MET will always remain as is for the mods, which is wonderful.
How that looks if there is a new one for the platform who knows.
But certainly it's nice having an all in one package with the games and DLC. Steam never had the DLC bundle like EA Origin had for example.

PlayStation
For PlayStation fans it's will be only way to play MET on the (PS4 and) PS5, so you might get some old and new fans there. (I originally started with ME2 on PS3 btw)

Xbox
While Xbox thankfully had the MET backwards compatibility, it did not have so, in the form of one streamlined package with all DLC.
That aside they will also enjoy the graphics/sound update.
I have the MET on PC (heavily modded) and Xbox, but I'll still get the legendary edition for consoles at least

Not, not "me" I, more like "your average Joe" I, which doesn't frequent this place, kinda wants a remaster, but will forget about it, the longer Jeff Grubb doesn't talk about it and the more shinny new games get released in the meantime.
