Hello friends,
Been about 4-5 years since I have last touched DA:I. Now in college, a little older, wiser, and more bored due to COVID, I decided to pick it up GOTY on PS4 and play it again. I always play Femquiz mage and I remembered how much I adored Cullen.
Is there a recommended timeline for the romance? I do not want to frontload it and want to spread it out where it makes most sense in the story to trigger certain cutscenes. I also do not want to go too slow and lose out on cutscenes/content as I know there is a romantic spin to some if you are already in a relationship.
So if the question makes sense.... when should I do what with Cullen?

the only things to remember are, Cullen is only available to elves and humans, and to never put him back on lyrium (telling him until after the war is acceptable I believe) since that cuts of the romance (especially if you're a mage). Other then that...do what feels natural for you and your character, you can start his "romance" as early as Haven, taking flirt options, though I've also seen vids of people waiting until after his quest Perseverance to start the romance. (Perseverance unlocks after having completed either HLtA or WEaWH)
Also, make sure you have his romance locked at a certain point before going into Wicked Eyes, since Cullen (and any other romance option) gives a dance scene at the end of said quest
There is one scene that's easy to miss however (though only relevant if one recruits the Mages) after What Pride Has Wrought, and doing Samson's judgment scene...there's a scene with Cullen in his chambers This scene plays before the final one that has him pray in the chapel
Another nice tidbit if for the Trespasser dlc...spoilers just in case the Inquisitor can marry Cullen, during the ceremony he speaks vows to the Inquisitor however, if the Inquisitor is Dalish, you can ask him to allow you to speak your own (elven) vows as well, in which case both of you speak vows instead of just Cullen if the Inquisitor is human
