gives me hope they are looking in other directions than save the galaxy yet again. Let's be real. Of course it's going to be a save the galaxy plot again. Isn't it always save the galaxy/world/everyone else in Mass Effect games?

Yeaqh I think it needs to be MEA 2 if only to tie up the looseens dfrom Ryder. I hope it is anyway. And if it's not? What then? Then like the Dragon Age team them being overhyped hacks and everything else the haters said will be validated because both teams can no longer write complete stories, therefore losing my business.

High Res version of the Mud Skipper The Mudskipper looks very utilitarian and has turrets on the top, so it gives a military/industrial vibe. Not sleek like the Normandy or Tempest, so it's probably not built for speed or stealth, but to trundle around and do labor-type jobs. It can defend itself, but it isn't a warship. It looks too clean and not personalized enough to be the ship of pirates or independent mercenaries (Serenity-style). If anything it looks like it would be owned by a mining corporation or a military organization.

The story was complete though. It is a galaxy so obviously more can always be told. But you came there to settle and set up colonies, you encounter a mysterious robot race with weird teraforming tech and hostile race also interested in the robots. You gain control of the teraforming tech, defeat the bad guys and drive them off, teraform the cluster so it is habitable and ripe for colonization, and have a mini dyson sphere like thing ready for your people. They tied up the loose end of the missing ark.
The bad guy empire is still out there but the story wasn't about the empire but about their current threat in the cluster, which you drove out. May they come back, sure but that would be another story. Without relays any potential next invasion is a really long time off, something for another generation if they ever decide to tell that tale.

I’m thinking more of the megastories that Ryder is involved in. From simple things like curing their mom, to much bigger things like solving the mysteries of the Jardaan, what the Primus is going to do, or the Mysterious Benefactor only they know about.

They also never completely undid an ending to a game or character to set up a cliffhanger in a DA game either, but that’s all Trespasser did for no benefit. Again, if they left DAI with its vanilla ending everyone would be fine with a new PC.

Yeah I was never expecting the Inquisitor to return in anything more than an NPC role as the whole they were done kind of vibe felt strong to me in Trespassre anyway. I never really got that with Ryder though and wit hthe loose threads left dangling a tth end of MEA I had hoped they'd at least get either tied up in a DLC which never came or in an MEA 2. This could be the game where that happens but I'm keeping my expectations low for the moment.

It is part of the world building to make the place seem more real and alive.
I'm not opposed to anew Andromeda, my preference is towards a new one just set 10-20 years in the future. But if they go a totally different direction I don't think it shows they are hacks or shows they can't finish a story or something. The quality of whatever story they write is what will determine that. The core Andromeda story was pretty basic, but I wouldn't say hack level basic. While I did not like the characters except oddly Tann, I feel like they do fit a certain genre of shows I've seen so its not like they are objectively bad, just not my taste.

Personally, I find the announcement of a new Mass Effect game to be yet another item to add to the list of recent good news for me. The wait's not going to be an issue when plenty of other things are going to keep me entertained in the meantime.

Then they screwed up. Trespasser should have been the prologue to DA4. No. Trespasser should have never existed in any way, shape, or form. DA4 should have been set up completely differently. Whatever the case, what's done is done. Time will tell if Bioware learns it's lesson or not.

Big difference between potential hooks that could be told with other characters (Quarian Ark for example) and things directly tied to a character that the game stresses will be a big deal (Mysterious Benefactor for example).

I do hope it is a good Mass Effect game regardless if it is within Milk Way or Andromeda. I do admit my Cerberus Phantom commander idea is part shit post and an idea for a possible new Player Character. Keep in mind a well written Player Character of any faction within any galaxy with a good story can go pretty far with the fanbase.
