Never having paid attention to it before....I thought I would check out Supergirl (with Melissa Benoist) to see what it was like. I went in with no expectations, but have found myself rather enjoying it the past 2 nights. I will watch it and see where it goes.

Like all these shows I gave up when all the damn cross overs started happening. Started watching Arrow, then had to start watching Flash and then Supergirl of which I think I got to season 3 and said enough is enough. Plus Flash got stupid.

Like all these shows I gave up when all the damn cross overs started happening. Started watching Arrow, then had to start watching Flash and then Supergirl of which I think I got to season 3 and said enough is enough. Plus Flash got stupid. While I thoroughly enjoyed ARROW as a series and I inititally liked the cross-overs when they all first aired on TV.....seeing them all again when I recently went through ARROW, like you said- I did get awfully tired of them and actually found them to be the silliest of all the episodes in any of the series. And all the charactes together-especially once you factor in the multiverse when it neared the Crisis on Infinite Earths episodes- well, it got to be a bit much....so when I was watching ARROW recently I often skipped over that ark and back onto proceeding episodes that continued the main story. Having said that, I will bear in mind what you have said about Supergirl and watch it for as long as I can tolerate it. So far, I'm only on episode 8 of Season 1 and I am enjoying it. But we will see how long it lasts.

So I found out this morning that Mouse Minus is once again jacking up the price to a bank-robbing total of 169.99 CAD/per year (before tax) which comes to 192.10 after tax for the 4K-capable standalone service (no HULU or ESPN, just Disney). That's $*$)(@$^^%%$$@# j$*# Robbery! So, I promptly said "NUTS to that! I'm not paying nearly 200 Dollars for any service- especially since there's rarely anything on it that I watch and what I'm interested in (STAR WARS content, SHOGUN etc) I've already seen...so there's no point in keeping it. Not at that price." So I spoke to three people in the Service dept and they canceled my subscription, deleted my account AND issued me a full refund of the presently paying price (before tax) which is 135.99/year (up from last year's 119.99).....EXCEPT- get this, my credit card company (though they do see it as an Authorized REturn/Refund....It is pending as a DEBIT of that amount). Just my luck.

Finished Destined, a Chinese period drama. Another good watch. With this, there're no more CPD worth watching as I checked on the reviews on what's left so I moved to contemporary. I finished We Are All Alone, Chinese contemporary. The story revolves around the entertainment industry, mainly actors / actresses and their managers. Of course, there're no highlights on the sexual harassment and predations on actresses by their managers, etc. The writers can't write the ugly truth. As it is, it's a good story of the female main character who can be arrogant at times but truly cares for the actors and actresses under her charge. The story also deals with the fandom and how it can destroy careers and creates chaos. I think this is the last drama done by the male MC because he has passed away in 2019. Taking part in one of those ridiculous Chinese variety shows that put actors and actresses in competitions like running obstacle courses etc that not even professional athletes would find easy. After filming for 17 hours, he simply dropped dead. For three hours, doctors tried to revive him and failed. Thus, the actor died at age 35. The Glory, Korean contemporary drama I actually watched this a couple of years ago but back then, it was in production so the eps were not all there. I decided to wait and then forgot all about it. The story is of a woman, Dong-eun who was severely persecuted and bullied in school. It was so bad she has horrific scars all over her body. The people around her; from her mom to the principle to the cops did not help. The one who did try to help her is the school nurse, However, as the bullies come from rich families, the nurse could do little. Dong-eun is patient. She wants vengeance on the main perp, Yeon-jin, who's now enjoying the good life; a good career, a rich husband, a daughter. Dong-eun slowly plans and gathers evidence. When the time is right, she strikes. Currently in ep 11 and it's riveting. In a way, what has developed in the eps so far reminds me of Gattaca. Of Vincent totally unaware that there are people around him who know his identity and silently help him achieve his goals. It's the same thing with Dong-eun. Some she's not aware of but she has found others who are willing to help because Yeon-jin's arrogance and persecutions are also generously spent on other hapless people.

Finished The Glory, Korean contemporary drama.
The ending, although good, doesn't exactly tie off everything. It's even more surprising what the FML and MML end up doing with their careers. The good thing is, they're doing it together and they have each other's back.
The other surprising end is how one of the bad guys went out. In hind sight, it shouldn't be. Anyway, a very enjoyable watch. Especially when the FML's plans have the baddies "eat" one another kick into drive. She doesn't have to use any weapons to knock them off. Their evil deeds are enough to bury them. I'm just surprise the baddies did not do one another in, in the years they're together.
Good Partner, Kdrama
There are only five eps to this drama but each is over an hour long. I think this is one of the fast pace short story type.
Story is about a top divorce lawyer and the rookie joining her.

Dang, I didn't check properly and it's not five eps. It's an on going production so the eps are coming in slowly. I'll put this on the back burner. It's very good so far. Hope I don't forget this one.
Moving on to ..
Love Is Sweet, CDrama
I actually don't like the title. Sounds cloying but the reviews and ratings are pretty good and I know the actress and actor so I'll give this one a go.

Why only 6 episodes??!?! IIRC this is the last season, probably reduced budget and a, "be happy we're not ending this on a cliffhanger" hand-wave. It's not my favourite show but it definitely has some hilarious moments. Love Klaus/Sheehan, such a lil shit all the way from Misfits but he does it SO WELL.

Decided to fast forward on Love Is Sweet because it's basically a romance comedy drama. I skipped to the end for the ending. Jumped on the wagon for Double, CDrama Opening 30 mins is interesting. A woman runs through the forest, a man runs after her. They go to bed. She wakes and thinks her husband is with her on the bed but it's s stranger. She screams and her mother in law walks in and she's put in chains for her "affair" in a broken down hut. Her husband turns up and tells her everything is fine and gives her water to drink as she's thirsty. She wakes up to find herself in a hole in the ground, with her husband looking on. He could have simply divorce her, why must he destroy her reputation and look to kill her, she asks him. He tells her her father and her friend are dead, that he has no choice. As she cries in grief and despair, he whacks her with the spade and buries her. Straight off, I know this dumb husband is useless, that some woman in power must have wanted him hence her demands are; if he wants to keep his family safe, he must ruin wife and kill her. The wife will not be dead. Instead, she would survive the attack and she would seek vengeance. Oh yes! My cup of tea! The reviews for it is good so how the heroine get her revenge should be well written.

That said, sometimes you can buy/rent on Apple circumventing the streamer but their prices are usually a bit ridiculous. If you happen to have apple giftcards sitting around though, it can be worthwhile. I've even used apple giftcards I got as presents/bonuses/giveaways to pay for streaming sites through my iPad's Apple balance. Disney, Prime, and Crave. IIRC I couldn't pay for Netflix that way though.

Finished The Double, Chinese period drama. Overall, a good ride though I understand the novel is much better. No surprise really. Adaptations are more often than not, not 100% faithful to the novel. This drama has the usual romantic pans on the FL and ML and their dialogues doesn't reflect the normal dialogues. The good thing about it is that it doesn't get too cloying.
The two main leads and cast are good. Really like the matching green variation costumes both FL and ML were wearing at one point. The director left the ending a bit ambiguous which led to complaints. In any case, the novel ended happy with an explanation why the male MC delayed his home return and his agreement with the Emperor. Imo, the director should have followed the conclusion. His attempt to be artsy left the audience annoyed and unhappy.
Moving on to ...
The Princess Royal
The summary reminds me of another CPD, Story of Kunning Palace, in which the heroine allowed her ambitions to lead her down the dark path and she ended being killed. Instead of dying, she found herself alive, age 18, just starting to get into the world. She resolved to change her fate.
Princess Royal is about Li Rong and Pei Wen Xuan who married at the age of 18. They married for political reasons and for 20 years, they used each other for their own gains until one day, someone manuevered them to take the other down. They died only to wake up to find themselves 18 again and they remembered what had happened. This time, Pei Xuan goes to find Li Rong to tell her they would get married as arranged by their parents but they would work towards getting a divorce.
The reviews for this drama is a pendulum with viewers for and against but it managed to garner good ratings. Will see whether it's good or bad.

The Princess Royal
Now in ep 5 and so far, it's good.
The Emperor told Li Rong to select a Prince Consort and she's determined not to choose Pei Wen Xuan again. During the party in which the candidates are presented, she discovered Wen Xuan remembered the 20 years of their lives. They mutually agree not to get married after Wen Xuan pointed out the last optional candidate who will not politically compromise her and the Crown Prince.
However, events did not fall out as they remembered and Wen Xuan stepped in to rescue Li Rong when the Yang Family scion attempted to kidnap her and forced a marriage.
I find it interesting one of the seven powerful nobles is the Yang Family which brings to mind of the tales of the Generals of the Yang Family which is very popular in Chinese culture. Generals of the Yang Family relate the tales of the unflinching loyalty and the remarkable bravery of the Yangs as they sacrificed themselves to defend their country from foreign military powers.
In this drama, the Yang Family are not the heroes of those tales. Instead, they're power hungry and corrupt. Wen Xuan rescued Li Rong and they ended up having to spend a night together (platonic) to hide from the kidnappers. They discovered they each remember the 20 years and in the discussion, Li Rong realised she was naive to trust the person she had relied on. Wen Xuan realised his errors with his 20 years of relationship with her. They agreed to put aside their quarrels and start again when they admitted that inevitably, they'll be married because they had spend the night together.
The other reason was that there was no one else Li Rong could safely choose for a Prince Consort because of the political mine field regards the seven noble families.

The Princess Royal
In ep 12 and it's still going good so hoping the rest of the 28 eps remain that way.
As it is, the same old problems between Wen Xuan and Li Rong remained there although Li Rong didn't realise it until Wen Xuan lose his patience with her for her assumptions about his actions in the previous life. They almost had a fall out until Li Rong realise the fault was hers.
Further dialogue brought them to the realisation why their relationship failed; her for making assumptions about his decisions and actions and he, for failing to talk frankly with her. Thus, they came to understand that for a relationship to work, they must be frank with each other and not to keep back anything from the other because by doing so, they build trust and support. Failing to be talk candidly with each other led to a lot of misunderstandings, negative assumptions and feelings.
Edit. Oh it's starting to get pretty good. Li Rong remembers the events and conversations she had with two persons in the previous 20 years of life is turning out rather different to what she had perceived of them. Their paths and decisions are also changing as she discovers their personalities and finds that they are allies instead of the cold strangers they had been previously.

If you've seen the show Banshee I haven't; it was an honest question. They are on Amazon, so I might give it a go. I'd recommend it, was a fun ride. Not really my standard fare (it lacking dragons and/or spaceships) but it scratched an itch. Lots of boobs, blood, and morally grey beat-downs.

Also, if I explain it then I'll spoil something so I can't explain it until you've seen it. But once you've seen it I won't have to explain it.
