On a more serious note, I know Francesca is naturally gifted in plant magic but I was wondering if it had become so powerful recently because she was operating within the area of Arlathan Forest and the magic there seems to have become more evident since the Qunari invasion. The spells in Blue Wraith did seem very potent.

It has shackles on its feet so it could be a dragon that was captured specifically for the purpose of forcing possession on it. If you think about it, an Arch-demon is a dragon. So if the bad Vints don't know what the Old Gods truly are, it would be reasonable enough to assume that to create an Arch-demon, you do a deal with a demon to provide it with a dragon as a host. Let's face it, that is all Hakkon was in JoH. He was an Avvar god and the barbarians have ancient roots, possibly a similar Neromenian origin to the Vints. Also, didn't the first Hakkonites get the idea for their ritual to call Hakkon into a dragon from an ancient site dedicated to Razikale? So may be that was the way the ancient Neromenians made their gods manifest.
