*cover eyes with sunglasses; covers sunglasses with ears* Don't pay attention to AMD propagandaHonestly, there are very few reasons to get an RTX 4090 over a 7900XT/XTX at this point. First is the ray-tracing performance. In that regard, the RTX 4090 is still far ahead of the 7900XT/XTX. If you don't care much about ray-tracing, you don't need to waste $1600 on an RTX 4090. Second is if you use some specific software that hugely benefit from CUDA acceleration, like Blender. However, AMD seem to have fixed the GPU acceleration for Adobe Premiere Pro. So if you edit and encode a lot of videos with Premiere Pro, you are no longer limited to using Nvidia GPUs. This. Everyday this. Never liked the Lime green Lambos anyway a Red Ferrari is a much better choice... Better steering too.

NOTHING (not even a Lambo) sounds like the V-8, 10 or V-12 of a Ferrari. I've alwys had a thing for Ferraris ever since I was a little kid, and the few times I've ever been to an Auto Show, I've always made a bee-line right for the Ferraris But as for GPU's.....I'm solidly on Team Green for this one

I've alwys had a thing for Ferraris ever since I was a little kid, and the few times I've ever been to an Auto Show, I've always made a bee-line right for the Ferraris But as for GPU's.....I'm solidly on Team Green for this one I understand the being burned by a company before thus you want nothing to do with them. Remember I was burned by Intel and their CPUs way back when and didn't care to ever get another. If you said the name Intel I would have been bound to verbally slug you back in the day... That was when I was more heated and younger -though for now... After introspection... three things: 1. The people are under new management. 2. The people responsible for the old ways have moved on to other companies. 3. The technology involved has changed so greatly and nothing like the old days. This applies to Intel as of this year and AMD as of 2015-2017... HOWEVER Nvidia is still ruled by the monopoly loving shills since its inception. While its true Nvidia may have some of the best drivers and of course robust GPU's they are loosing ground to Intel and AMD. Whose newer drivers and durability is making me take notice again... To put my plan out there: I always love a backup so I planned on a 3070 Ti as primary and a 1050 TI as back up but now I plan this: Get the 7900 XTX little brother that will be announced later: 7850/7750XTX(?) and use that as primary and have the 3070 TI as back up. You would say why I revert to AMD well...
Encoding really sells it and who really needs ray-tracing? I don't need it. Not for my work and not for games -sorry to offend bmwcrazy . A game is a game and FPS is hurt by it so and I don't need to get lost in thinking its real. Also remember the RX 550 I mentioned -turns out only 3 of the monitor connectors were bad so card still lives... It just needs new fans -that I can do and it will go as a backup for my brother's PC. As to Nvidia I will come right out and say it the later generations have appeared to not be as durable as the the INTEL and AMD units. Sure Nvidia claims it and they own up to one but then have two detractors. Negative gain equals failure and I am keeping track. Till Jensen and his ilk are removed for even attempting market manipulation among the many other things they have done. Nvidia gets no more love from me they have burned that bridge.

Personally I have played games that can be chugged at 8 or 9 FPS and it doesn't bother me. I just can't say no to gorgeous graphics.

Personally I have played games that can be chugged at 8 or 9 FPS and it doesn't bother me. I just can't say no to gorgeous graphics. Welcome to my life as a paradox or have you not met me?... Wait you better not your brain is liable to explode. That said I will clarify but I ask this of you first: What words did I use to describe the 8 to 9 FPS? " Can be chugged" Which in context here is right. CAN BE but should't have to be. I mean I will endure 8 FPS but a smooth 30 to 45 is fine. The trouble you may forget is I multi-task. Let me give an example say I got encoding going, an audio stream being converted, music playing and a game running at 1600x900 in a window. And that game is a multiplayer game and your getting graphics overload in it like so: When this sort of thing happens the game goes from a playable 20 to 40 FPS to 10 to 8 sometimes even 5 FPS. THAT SAID... I am not one who wants excess FPS: 100+ FPS is too much- unless monitor requires it. 30 to 60 is fine. So lets put the 3000 series and 4000 series in this situation with RT off. The Card will still manage dual frame rate most likely still above 30 or maybe even close to 60. NOW put the card there with RT on and I will be tanked right back to 8 to 10 FPS I am almost certain. With the AMD cards though the load will be shared between the CPU and GPU. So hopefully with the software I can tweak it to run the multi-tasking load more evenly instead of it bucking onto my GPU simply because the CPU can't take it.

I just can't say no to gorgeous graphics. No. Apparently you can't. Its impressive but nothing I would write home about. I guess I am just lucky that I am not fascinated by beauty -if it can be called that. Maybe I am just not a fan of the over use of purple and red or maybe Cyberpunk colors and me just don't get along... Or maybe I am just weird... Tell me how do these futuristic cites do for you?

I mean I will endure 8 FPS but a smooth 30 to 45 is fine. 8 FPS is simply unplayable for any games no matter how much you can endure. Limit your framerate at 8 FPS and record a video of your gameplay. I'd love to see how you handle the input lag at 8 FPS. As I've said before. The best practice is to use a dedicated PC to encode your videos and a dedicated gaming PC for games. Even for streaming, it is best to have a dedicated gaming PC and a dedicated streaming machine. You really need to get that PC build and stop "enduring" these nonsense.

The monster of a system must endure more than it can carry or its just a regular life. I have four things holding up the build: 1) Drill that can also be used as a screwdriver to build the desk -suggestions appreciated. 2) Desk -duh! -on next trip over the mountain to get the board -probably near thanksgiving unfortunately for the dentist. 3) Hard drives -prices went exorbitant when I last decided to get them I am not paying $375 for one 4 TB EXOS!. 4) Waiting on a M.2 to sata device that I bought and now find its coming from China! DOH!

Its impressive but nothing I would write home about. I know. Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the right game for you at all. The game's greatest strength is in its world building and story telling. The developers really take advantage of its graphical prowess and urban architectural splendor to craft some of the most stunning and immersive scenes I've ever experienced in any video games. It's hard to describe to someone who doesn't have any firsthand experience. The entire game is messy and yet beautiful.

I can get 18TB Seagate Exos SATA HDD for only $300. I even bought four 4TB Samsung 870 Evo SSDs for $380 each. I replaced the 4TB WD Black HDDs in my PC with these SSDs and the results were pretty amazing. Not to mention the completely silent operation.

That screenshot is tiny. Haha. It's also weird how your CPU and GPU don't seem to be fully utilized, but you should think of a way to put together your new PC with the parts that you've already got. So you can have something nicer to use while you wait for the rest of the parts. To me, it doesn't make sense to sit on brand new PC hardware and don't put them to good use. The longer you wait, the more they depreciate.

Ok math brain breaking alive... so you spent $1520 on SSDs? Ouch. Noise never bothered me so Exos gonna be fine. I actually like the Exos sound -lets me know its working. That said while I buy almost everything from Newegg or Amazon. Hard drives I buy in person. There is only one place here. And its well over the mountain that sells that kind of hardware and they have a 4TB Exos for that price yes. I know its an exorbitant markup which is why I will not pay that. I would go to MicroCenter but the nearest one is 500 to 700 miles away... yeah... nope. The drives are on Amazon and Newegg but only via 3rd party sellers. I don't trust 3rd party -I buy directly via newegg or amazon -not risk laden 3rd party. Also thanks a lot you caused me to just start doing math. I have found out by it that Exos which come in TB sizes: 6,8,14,16,18,& 20 seem more prone to errors or are DOA. Probably due to platter layout or something. Almost all reviews that are negative are of these models while the ones I now choose seem to be free of issues. SO my allotment that I intended was shifted to 4,4,10,12,12,12 I digress is it possible to order straight from Seagates' website?

Yes I know its a bug in Afterburner with this FX processor doesn't show full load being accessed if in window. Its weird but so am I. Its no picnic for me either but I know what happens if I do that since its happened before: I get the Domino Failure rate -used to like it. Now it just annoys me. If my build is a few months behind the times so be it. I will take a finely tuned and highly optimized system over so new and shiny and you flip the switch and:

Yes, and I really like M.2's. Especially Samsung EVO M.2's w/ NVMe. M.2's are the drive to use for Gaming. I actually just pre-ordered a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD to replace my 1TB 980 Pro drive. It should have much better write endurance than TLC SSDs like the 980 Pro and other Evo SSDs.

I'm still working through a 970 EVO Plus as my bootable drive and a 950 Pro as a secondary. Plus a 1 TB Crucial SSD and 3 magnetic HDDs as external storage for digitized movies. 990, wow....I'm sure those a blazingly fast. Good on ya!

And just like that.....the *flashy-thingy* behaviour is back. STarted my PC this morning and it started immediately. Rebooted.....and now it's gone again. I seriously believe that if you change the keyboard it will negate this. If it still shows up then its something else. A new system shouldn't function like this... The only other thing I could think is a bad monitor cord or bad display port on the graphics card.

Maybe one or two of those for complete data backup and disconnected from the main system. I found that bigger drives not always work well -especially if your trying to access multiple things from the same drive... Huh. Well there is part of the STO issue previously posted: Playing the Music and STO were on the the same drive by putting music on another drive I gained 4-8 FPS. SSD's still to expensive in these sizes I need though.

Ok math brain breaking alive... so you spent $1520 on SSDs? Ouch. Noise never bothered me so Exos gonna be fine. I actually like the Exos sound -lets me know its working. It's really amazing how quiet the PC is without any mechanical HDDs. Now the loudest part of my PC is the 360mm AIO cooler. SSDs are also great for moving large files, so they're perfect for video editing. Yes the only problem is my audio files are BIG try 15 GB or more PER FILE -and that is not even podcasts -those are even bigger. Now multiply that by THOUDREDS of files and the files being overwritten weekly. I would be concerned for the wear and tear on the SSD.

I found that bigger drives not always work well -especially if your trying to access multiple things from the same drive... That's not the case for me at all. I have never had any issues accessing multiple files at the same time from the 10TB and 12TB Seagate IronWolf Pro HDDs in my NAS and HTPC. I'm talking about video files that are 10 to 40GB as well. In fact, these large HDDs are so much quicker than my smaller HDDs
