I dunno...
I want to believe this is true. I've wanted the ever-elusive KOTOR 3 since basically ever...
But this is the 5th time I've heard something like this.
I'm not saying the OP is lying, I'm saying that I'm being very cautious about where I place my "hopes and dreams).

As long as KK and her minions are left at Disney-Lucasfilm, I dearly hope there is no new KotOR game or remake made. They would get to put their stamp on it, and it would be another piece of culture destroyed. Also, recutting it to fit "current canon" doesn't sound good either. Wouldn't that mean 'The high Republic'?

I haven't seen anything of concern about the High Republic yet. I take it you have?

There would seem to be two sources for this, a tweet by Jason Screier and a podcast by Bespin Bulletin. I'm not getting my hopes up at this point. There have been rumours about a remake for years. So long in fact, that you could call it Star Wars: Knights of the Battlecruiser 3000AD - A Duke Nukem Edition. BTW there are two threads about it now, the other is in the Other Bioware Games -section.

I haven't seen anything of concern about the High Republic yet. I take it you have? Yep. I watched the entire hour-long launch video on YouTube. The Stench is strong with this. Keeping my comments very limited, and deselecting things you'd probably not be bothered with: The Jedis are everywhere and everybody loves and idolizes them, as they deal out "peace and justice" for many centuries... A 16 year Jedi girl is sent on an important diplomatic mission... Villains that utterly lack any kind of rational or productive motivation, or any kind of motivation at all... P.S. But it may be that a KotOR may not be based on 'The High Republic', but instead on a new 'The Old Republic' that Favreau and co have developed for a new TV series. Just rumors.

I hope it is just a remaster, or has nothing to do with the events of the first two games. I don’t want them canonizing those events and removing the choice. At least SETOR can be ignored as noncanon.

Sounds dubious to me, why would Disney greenlight a game in a setting that was never canonical and would compete with their High Republic for audience? The Jedis are everywhere and everybody loves and idolizes them, as they deal out "peace and justice" for many centuries... A 16 year Jedi girl is sent on an important diplomatic mission... Villains that utterly lack any kind of rational or productive motivation, or any kind of motivation at all... So business as usual in a galaxy far far away.

Wouldn't that mean 'The high Republic'? I think it always depends on who exactly would be doing it. I don't really like a lot of the new SW stuff either but under Disney, they also had a few good things like IMO Rogue One and The Mandalorian. In the gaming sector, I really enjoyed Fallen Order and (to some lesser extend but still) Squadrons. So I wouldn't say that a KotOR remake would have to be bad just because it happens under the auspices of Disney.

It seems rather clear by now that the Favreau Mandalorian group is cut off from Kathleen Kennedy and her story group. KK has no influence and Favreau reports directly to the top of Disney, not to the top of Lucasfilm. Old Republic is rumored as yet another TV-series by the Favreau group. High Republic is a KK/Lucasfilm project. Normally, formality would be that a KotOR game would fall under KK/Lucasfilm. But there is always hope. The way Disney organized The Mandalorian, show that the Disney top is not entirely clueless. The High Republic may very well be yet another spectacular KK-failure. If it is, it would be very foolish to base a new game on it, or allow the KK-group to oversee it.

This is what happens when you get a spurned employee in charge after the departure of the leader the spurned employee fumblingly hated.

Unpopular opinion, but...
I hope we DON'T have a game set during the Old Republic era.
How about a new era? Like after TROS or during the High Republic or during the Sith Wars after Darth Ruin's ascension?

I'd say it's more than likely taking place in the High Republic era.
The reason I'd like it to happen in the Old Republic era is, that I still pine over Kotor 3 that we never got.
