This is an example of killing Phantoms with Concussive Arrows + Graal in 2-3 shots. and also "disabling" an enemy when going for a revive. (note: I dodge after almost every arrow volley because it's a convenient dodge and it hides the delay needed to refire your arrows.) Talon Merc shenanigans feat. me0120, Kocka007 and SlimJim as Volus Spectator!
Collectors/Condor/Platinum Public game: Reaper/Goddess/GoldIf anybody wants to try a build without Cain Mines here's the build I use on Gold/Platinum: (This character is the reason why I'm low on Adrenaline Mod III's and Strength Enhancer III's)lol.png Basically, the Graal is able to shoot during the aiming animation of the Omni-Bow, you will want to release the shot before the arrows hit because the enemies tend to dodge. This is only for mooks and humanoid sub bosses. For big bosses like Brutes, Scions and Ravagers you use your Armor Piercing Arrows first then shoot so it flows: 3 Arrows for 3 shots from the Graal, which you can then Reload Cancel when you reset your arrow power. Concussive Arrows are for Close Quarters, Phantoms, Geth Hunters, or just anything you want disabled. Concussive Arrows are perfect for Phantoms because it disables their dodge and bubble by knocking them down or getting them up in the air. The Shock evo will keep her "visible" so you can still target her if she cloaks. If something Is just on the other side of the wall ready to shoot you like Geth Hunters or Phantoms, making the Concussive Arrows into a wide spread discharge of arrows (by just tapping the button) can come in handy, as they will be staggered and you can either aim for the head or just follow through with a full arrow shot and let the arrow guide your Graal shot. If a Phantom(s) is coming toward you and ready to slash you then use the wide spread arrows for stagger then a full arrow shot to send her flying. Then you can just target her and finish her off. This is also great for Husks/Abominations that won't leave you alone. As for Guardians, the Concussive Arrows act like Throw or Shockwave where it throws back the Shield of the Guardian exposing him. Using only the Arrows, he doesn't need any sort of Grenade Capacity Gear. So I use Geth Scanner as a tool to plan ahead of time. Which helps tremendously because I don't use Cyclonics or use any Shield bonuses in Omni-Bow Mastery. I could use a Cyclonic Mod, but I wouldn't be able to side step or strafe Geth Rocket Trooper Rockets, Ravager/Scion shots. and especially Geth Hunter shots. I want to side step them because that gives me the ability to return fire, rather than dodging the entire time and not being able to do a thing other than dodge. Banshee/Praetorians are the only enemies to hold off on using the bow. They just ignore the entire arrow damage if the Banshee is standing throwing warp balls and if the Praetorian is in the air. When the Banshee screams or the Praetorian lands you can use the bow to your hearts content. joyful.png Geth Primes, but mostly the Combat Drone and Geth Turret will always be a problem however. If you plan on taking one on, know where his turret is and destroy the drone with your Graal. Then hide behind a wall (but not in cover) until he shoots his 3 shots then unleash your arrows and spikes upon him. The Adrenaline Mod makes you fast enough to quickly get your shots in and get behind cover behind the wall. Concussive Arrows are extremely effective vs Geth Bombers. The Force from the arrows will prevent the Geth Bomber from dodging. This means you can hit it with every arrow and a Graal shot. He is best used when hosting but he is playable off host(unless the lag is terribad).Edited by Argent Xero, 24 October 2015 - 06:05 AM.

'The Robin Hood build' ah I haven't heard that for a while, that made me chuckle. I still remember trying to explain to Argent that they didn't invent the bow build like they thought and it was an intentional way to play the merc. Good old BSN.

Its an acquired taste thats for sure, can be extremely frustrating trying to play full bow build off host and going down the other route of spamming grenades isn't fun. Very powerful kit though

NO, the worst offender in PuGville by far are all the flamer kits. Cain mine spammers are mildly vexing, besides, they are rarely played and die easy. Reetard users, Sexbots, braindead-stim-pack-Overload-spamming-Carrier-ammo-guzzling-Turians are all varying degrees of annoying, but the motherf************ flamers are totally disruptive. I want to enjoy the f*cking game, not get permanently blinded.

I literally can't have an opinion on the Talon Merc because the keybinding issue prevented me from playing him since my first Silver pug attempts. I do dislike pugs who play him though, they seem more keen on putting superfluous effort to scoring before ending up in the lower spots anyway.
But do we have an "annoying pug behavior" thread? For me, it's spamming Shockwave and Snap Freeze during hacks and escorts for some petty damage. I kinda learnt to land hits with the Arc Pistol despite that but long way to go until sniping well in such an environment.

Flamer doesn't bother me so much... unless it's a hack or escort I am probably nowhere near that person anyway.
I don't mind the screen shake, I think it is a fun and "realistic" aspect of the game. Nothing in the game really bugs me much anymore except for having enemies explode before my eyes because some asshat on the other side of the map has an IWIN button for a stupidly designed power.

Mgamerz made it easy to fix this, but it does require some tinkering in BioInput so that the dipshit's controls are "hardcoded" in your .bin. Basically copy & paste job, and using B4B's method so that you can use TCPs with him. I did this, still no bang. Airlock.

It's possible to play the Cain Mine build without cheesing. I use Cain Mine only to set traps.
It's only when spamming Cain Mine that it gets really annoying.

i dont really see the annoying part of this cain mine spam yet... btw I recently had one pug spamming mine from time to time, it just killed a few bosses without me seing it coming but all the rest was almost classic. Anyway, if it was such a "I WIN" button, we would see it far more. Maybe i ll try to spam mine a few times to see if i can get good at it

I think that the reason why we don't see the Talon Merc more often has to do with the key binding issue. Most PUGs may not be aware of the fix.
While you can use Cain Mine spamming to deal with bosses, it is more effective as a means to clear spawns. Little will survive a ten Cain Mine barrage at 2300+ damage each.

This is one of my least used kits. I hate this guy. Not because someone outscoring me by spamming Cain Mines (that's easy enough with any kit). But because I'm so inept with him. So, can someone please give me a step by step tutorial on how to use CM's effectively? I keep reading that the key is to not use as a mine, but by dropping right below their feet. But (due to trigger delay?) they never ever seem to go off when I do that. What am I doing wrong?
PS: also don't like as he's fugly (not a fan of the Nightmare Jason on Halloween the 13th look).

Cain mines have a trigger, that is, the beam of light. Dropping at an enemy's feet will do nothing if it does not cross the beam.
For Cain mine spamming, the key point to remember is that there can only be 3 active mines at any one time. So if you place a fourth one, the first one is triggered. Place a fifth one, the second one explodes and so on.
I use Cain mines horizontally across choke points. Very deadly if the enemy spawns nearby.

Dropping at an enemy's feet will do nothing if it does not cross the beam. yeah it s pretty impossible to control the trigger of one mine right on the deployment with a vertical setup beam IIRC, troops will likely not walk over it, or not soon enough. U can do it more easly with a wall/horizontal beam. If u miss, u just have to spam 3 more mines ...
