How do you do, So, it is has been implied that in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition (MELE), ME1 will potentially receive the most amount of quality of life changes: www.ea.com/games/mass-effect/mass-effect-legendary-editionHowever, it is not immediately clear how much ME1's gunplay will be altered, or whether it will be altered at all. ME1's heat-based weapon system still existed in Andromeda, where the Remnant weapons utilize exactly the same model: no ammo, no thermal clip, but instead guns that overheat when you fire them too much. I am not sure which one people would like better, though I know what my answer would be. Which one would you like? Vote and leave a comment if you'd like. It'd be interesting what folks' opinions are on this subject.

They have answered that it is the overheat system. It may have been refined to some degree with the weapon balancing. I liked it, it was unique to me at least. Clips whatever, I get it supposed to add some tension in peoples minds or something but its not like you ever come close to running out of ammo even on insanity.

I chose the thermal clips option, BUT I know they will be sticking with the overheat mechanic.
ALSO, unless you have differing weapons of each type (see Mass Effect 2 Avenger versus Vindicator, or Mantis versus Viper), having thermal clips seems kind of bad considering half the classes are most proficient in only one weapon type by default.
Keeping overheating in Mass Effect 1 is fine to me, I know the mechanics well enough and the game becomes heavily skewed in your favor by the end with the best equipment and weapons anyway that it becomes a joke.

I prefer overheat. Too bad it wasn't in 2/3.

I prefer the overheat system, and really dislike thermal clips, if for nothing else it creates a lot of unwanted visual clutter on the field. Like, I shoot a husk, and it poops a thermal clip. The universe is just chock full of surprises.

I prefer overheat. Too bad it wasn't in 2/3. Some overheat weapons were in ME3, but you needed DLC to access them (Protheam Particle Beam, Lancer)

I prefer overheat. Too bad it wasn't in 2/3. And the only weapons that have overheating in 3 are pretty weak.

The Lancer, PPR and Collector Sniper are all good in ME3 but you have to know how to mod and use them i.e. use the thermal clip mod and never let them hit overheat, or you get that awful animation.

Regarding the thread topic I'd like both' e.g. overheat guns with better burst damage vs thermal clip guns with perhaps better sustained DPS as in ME3

Intact. But from looking around, it seems that the only change to the gunplay is that, weapons that don't belong to a class, will not be trainable, just not unusable. Which I am OK with.

Will Master Marksman Pistol still be the best DPS? I'm kind of hoping shotguns get some massive upgrades...

Though I prefer gunplay in the sequels it is important for ME1 to retain it's core mechanics and there are some fans that actually prefer them. Out of respect for the game it should remain so. From what I have read and heard they are retaining it's mechanics while making some minor improvements.

I like the overheat system, which actually represents a technological advancement over conventional weapons. The thermal clip system as implemented in ME2/3 is a complete mess that makes no sense - it is standard ammunition in all but name.
Ideally, Mass Effect's small arms lore and gameplay should be overhauled completely but that won't ever happen.

Just give me ME3 gun system and gameplay for the entire trilogy. ME1 was trash...my guess it'll still be trash.

Overheat. Thermal clips should be an option as an instant but limited solution for overheating, pop a heat sink and start firing again, but it should not be equivalent of ammo. It makes 0 sense lore wise.
