Yaaaaay! With the release of the new Legendary Edition I was looking forward to multiplayer the most. Great! Wonderful! Terrific! I'm so happy right now. Nothing like that feeling when you get kicked in the nuts & punched in the stomach at the same time. Thanks Bioware!
First they dropped support after 1 year which killed the game prematurely. All my friends stopped playing & I was left alone. And now they drop it altogether. My greatest time as a gamer was ME3 multiplayer (I've been a gamer since Pong/Atari 2600). So just sweep it under the carpet like it's nothing. For me dropping multiplayer is the same as cutting Shepard out of the game.
I played the whole trilogy over & over again probably 20 times or more. So I'm not really excited to play it again. I was really looking forward to multiplayer with enhanced graphics and a whole new player base. I was all ready to buy it on day 1 & jump right into the multiplayer. Now I'll just wait & get a used copy for around $20. I swear, this world is nothing but soul crushing disappointment. One after the other.
I used to be on the Bioware boards as N7 Banshee Bait. I was looking forward to getting back into it but now I've lost all interest. I don't really have anything else to say, just wanted to post my soul crushing disappointment.

Personally, I am a Mass Effect 1 and 2 fan. I enjoyed the games immensely - in almost all aspects. The original game had such amazing ambiences - it opened my eyes to a future that I would love to be part of. The very idea of there being a Citadel and Galactic community where humanity was not top dog, but earning a place in said community left me dumbfounded. I'm not sure that I have seen that idea in any other game. There were so many aliens and cultures, amazing worlds to explore.... There is a reason why I am a science fiction fan, and ME1 hit the nail on the head.
ME2 was an outstanding game that sort of went off the rails from the main ME1 story thrust, but it delivered. Technology has moved along and ME2 showed it - I loved the graphics and gameplay and RPG nature of the game. The music was fantastic and the voice acting was right on point. There was very little that I didn't like about ME2 - with the exception of the termi-reaper. That shit was pretty appalling. Games of this genre should live and die by their lore and they broke lore with that mess.
When I finished ME1 and ME2 (usually at the Suicide Mission), I felt on top of the world. It's hard to explain that feeling, but you all know what I mean. We stood against the odds and we MADE IT! That feeling is what makes a game or a movie or book top tier in my opinion. It's Han Solo and Chewie burning in hard on the Falcon and clearing Vader off of Luke's back so that he can take the shot and WIN. That's why I play video games.
Well, ME3 was a dogfart. It's not that I can't even see through it to get out of the room, eyes burning and can't breathe... there's just no win.
I get that BioWare wanted to convey that its not all sunshine and bunnies, and that this is War with the Reapers, and all wars have loss and tragedy. I don't play computer games to feel that ... feeling we got with those endings.
I play computer games to kick ass and wreck shop. ME3 MP is the only place in ME3 where I can get that WIN. I get rewarded for being an amazing shot and playing hard and working with the team (I usually pug). I love how dynamic each game in MP is. I still play to this day because it is addictively fun.
If BioWare is going to spend the time and effort to do this LEGENDARY EDITION, then it should absolutely and positively have the Multiplayer included. Not only should it have MP in it, it should have the rest of the maps and weapons completed as well.
Sadly, this is not old BioWare - where excellence is the standard. This is new BioWare, where profits are the standard. believe you me, there is a difference. The really sad part about it is that BioWare isn't doing most of the work on the remaster - they had to sub it out to another studio.

First: it was announced in November, that the remaster is single player only, so why the surprise now? Second: I don't understand the wish for a multiplayer remaster. The version we have is running just fine, no? And it's not like we have time to look at better graphics at the sunset on platinum.  Also to consider: if they bring out a new version, this would mean they would need post-release support, which they probably don't have the personnel for, because anyone working on Mass Effect should focus on the new game after the release of the Legendary Edition. The remaster is mainly there to build up the fanbase by showing the trilogy to a new generation of players and then strike on that grown fan base with a new game as soon as possible. Regarding the SP remaster: I'm excited about the gameplay tweaks to ME1. Have to see it though, before deciding if I'll wait on a major price drop or consider buying it relatively close to launch. The first trailer lacked gameplay scenes IMO. |

I too knew it didn't have MP based on previous remarks, but it is still disappointing when it becomes fact 
Anyway, I'll take a stab at the desire for remaster MP: 1) Nicer graphics 2) The hope that they'd fix the bugs.
3) The hope that they'd fix some of the play quality issues like the screen whiteouts with Rage/AR, etc. on White Haz and others. 4) That N7HQ would be returned to full functioning state (it doesn't work with many newer accounts, esp PC) 5) That they'd not have some of the other issues with newer accounts (not being able to invite, etc.) 6) Maybe a new rebalance on the weapons and powers (though I can see that creating a shitstorm ... which would be fun in itself  ) 7) Get a whole new playerbase. Yes, OG MP may still be around, but newer players wouldn't go out and buy it for that. 8) Start afresh ... again! (I've done about 7 times!) 9) The hope for all new weekly challenges!
[now, in reality, they'd probably have just done a fraction of the above]

Just to see all the whining here when we couldn't transfer our maxed manifests and gaudy 2000 hr N7HQ's

I'm not going to buy this legendary edition, nor I would have bought it even if they had included the multiplayer just for the sake of it without proper bugfixes and rebalancing some things. Throwing away 60€ to still see things like people getting stuck on joining on Condor, enemies stuck on top of the reactor, Dagger Hazard and Condor ammo boxes glitched, Reegars melting everything on sight, rocket troopers sending 3 missiles at once, Vanguards glitched on Rio, shockwave, tactical scan, Dark sphere evos bugged, Geth Bombers' hitboxes bugged but in 4K? C'mon man.

I'm still skeptical about me3 multiplayer not happening. It's not coming with the remaster, that much is clear, but it is very unusual for EA to pass on an opportunity to legally print money. I mean, hell, they can include their precious lootboxes and not get criticized because "they were in the original and this is a remaster." And we all know there are people out there who will happily throw thousands of bucks at the screen to get their Harrier X on day 1.
My guess- multiplayer will be released later as a standalone. Andromeda disappointed and Anthem was dead on arrival. EA is understandably cautious and wants to sit this one out and see if it does well. If reception is good, I think there's a chance of mp happening later on.
