So there is some redundancy in these videos, but as long as I was making videos about thaigs I wanted an Amgarrak video... and my bestiary videos would feel incomplete without a Harvester video.
So consider this your reminder that in addition to Darkspawn, giant spiders, and whatever’s coming out of those grey pools, we also have unknown number of these things wandering the Deep Roads.

Once again, where do you suppose that Nereda got her ideas from? I assume the inspiration to use flesh instead of stone or steel came from her as she was the one to summon the spirit from the Fade to possess the flesh golem, which was completely different to how normal golems had been created. Presumably this was also why their attempts at true golems failed because they were using the wrong process to animate them.
Also, Orsino got his ideas from the same books that Quentin used. We were told this was a form of necromancy, which makes sense considering it is using dead bodies and a spirit summoned from the Fade to possess it but did the knowledge originate in Tevinter or much further back? Is there some sort of connection between the magic used in the pools and this type of necromancy? (I know, I know, I'm seeing elven gods behind everything now)

(I know, I know, I'm seeing elven gods behind everything now) It might be a bit boring, but I’ve always though the process that created the Harvester (per Nereda) seems to be nothing more than bog standard necromancy with a few extra steps. What makes this one peculiar is mostly down to its unique body. What’s more interesting is that Quentin/Orsino have found/developed (if I’m not mistaken Orsino claims he is using Quentin’s theories) a spell that creates the body and summons the spirit. Do you remember where it said they based their research on existing books?

Do you remember where it said they based their research on existing books? My dear friend,
I have obtained the books you requested. I'll leave them at our usual hiding spot. Please collect them as soon as possible. I would hate to see them in the wrong hands!
Your last letter was fascinating! You have proven me wrong, once again, by doing the impossible. I shouldn't have doubted your resolve, and I hope you will keep me apprised of further progress.
Your friend and colleague, OI am not clear what Quentin got from the books if he was already "doing the impossible" but that could have been referring to any magical process that was not practiced in the southern Circles but was indicated to be possible from ancient texts. Anyway, I've assumed from Orsino saying he would leave them "in our usual hiding spot" that probably these were not the first texts that Orsino supplied him with. I seem to recall it was said somewhere else that it was possible to pick up all manner of ancient texts on the illicit markets in Kirkwall because people kept discovering relics of the Tevinter occupation. There could even have been books hidden in the Gallows from the time it was a slave prison.

I must admit that I have a soft spot for the Amgarrak dlc, though I guess I find it memorable mostly for the brain taxing puzzles regarding the lights and crystals, along with what I found the most difficult boss-fight in the whole Origins series - even more so than the Arch Demon! In my pen and paper RPG DA campaign I managed to introduce a Harvester that had escaped from Amgarrak and absorbed a few dead bodies to become larger - it was nice keeping the flesh golem idea alive! I do think it was a shame that hardly any inkling was gleaned regarding Orsino's corruption before the decision of whom to support - mages or Templars - was forced upon us in DA2. In fact, if one doesn't make the right verbal response in regard to Orsino's transformation, Hawke never even learns that Orsino was in cahoots with Quentin at all. There's not enough of a moral quandary in the choice, otherwise, I feel.
Anyway, thanks for another interesting couple of episodes and keep up the good work!
